Continuing the on from the As ever thread

  • Funny article from Jan Moir

https://archive.ph/UfTPx

  • Turns out Chrissy wasn’t the only known bully that Meg invited onto the show. David Chang has serious anger issues and has bullied staff

https://www.standard.co.uk/culture/tvfilm/meghan-markle-s-shameless-pr-stunt-with-david-chang-is-disgusting-b1244549.html

  • Megs new show hasn’t appeared in the Top ten on NF in the UK or US, which she had done for the first series. NF aren’t promoting it other that in the ‘new this week’ section. You also have to scroll along to find it.
  • No stock sold out yet

Meghan Markle’s shameless PR stunt with David Chang is disgusting

The first episode of With Love, Meghan season two has a nasty jumpscare

People pay well over the odds for Highgrove goods!

Highgrove jams/preserves are cheaper than Meghan's spreads - and have the benefit of being organic and with clear provenance. They are very different products.

BemusedAmerican · 12/09/2025 01:12

No, I live in the US. I can get cheaper, better quality food items at a farmer's market or a more upscale grocery store or bodega.

How do they compare with other organic, single source products? Genuine question because I don't know!

Yeah, there's no comparison really. Highgrove products are high quality, have a genuine royal link if that's something you care about, and the proceeds go to charity. Also, if you visit a royal site you can buy the products there and then, and in other outlets too.

Whereas Meghan's products are basic white labelled items, no different from anything you can buy for much less in any supermarket. You also have to pay delivery costs and wait for them to turn up. People aren't going to buy them just because she had a photo taken with members of a foreign royal family. They already know she's a Duchess, and that seems to be her only selling point.

Makehaysunshine · 12/09/2025 08:02

I just don’t understand why her having a label from an aristocratic ‘institution’ should mean anything to Americans.

Lifestooshort71 · 12/09/2025 08:24

I presume that when we have the funeral of KC (apologies for discussing it while he's still doing well), H (as his son) &M will be more centre stage than they were at that of QE2? They won't be pushed back behind Anne's plume or a convenient pillar - and nor should they be. As well as being a state affair it will also be a family funeral and the sons will stand together with their wives and children? What a lot of emotions there to be buttoned up.

bluegreygreen · 12/09/2025 09:40

@Baital I think they're in the same general price bracket, but to be fair I haven't done an exhaustive comparison

Baital · 12/09/2025 11:09

I think impossible to tell, given no-one knows any time frame. In another 10 years, for example, the Wales children might be more prominent. But other, older members of the RF might not be around.

And in 10 years there may have been significant family reconciliation (hopefully).

The plans are in place for the deaths of all the RF, the Prime Minister etc and are regularly reviewed.

That's my impression as well, the price is similar to other non-royal related products of the same type.

The KC3 connection means the brand is known about - perhaps reduces marketing costs?

I’m hoping it’s very long time before we have to consider that eventuality. The most important feelings on the day (apart from Camilla’s of course) will be William’s and George’s, because of what it means for their future. Hopefully the Mountbatten-Windsors won’t be quibbling about where they sit and who can see them on such a solemn and momentous day.

SqueakyDinosaur · 11/09/2025 22:05

Which flower sprinkles would you suggest would best elevate roast deer, @BemusedAmerican?

Edited

I like the nettles idea but I am going to suggest an apricot jam glaze 😁

butterflyinmytummy · 12/09/2025 16:00

@Ohpleeeeasehow can you say that William and George’s feelings will be the most important. How do you measure importance? KC is not just the HOS he is also a husband, father, grandfather, brother. I’m sure that all those close to him will all have their own grief and it isn’t measured in importance. Hopefully that day will not be for a long time.

Well, in terms of the public and (presumably) televised ceremony. Just as the whole 'swearing fealty' bit at KC3's Coronation was limited to William.

QE2 had the public, head of state, televised ceremony. None of us know who sat where at the private ceremony.

I assume something similar for any high profile funeral of someone in a constitutional position. Public ceremony based on protocol and hierarchy. Private ceremony reflecting private relationships.

MrsLeonFarrell · 12/09/2025 19:21

I would expect Harry to be placed at the funeral in the same position the late Queen's children were. But only George will swear fealty, if indeed they keep that part. It may all be very different. I'm sure i read somewhere this week that the King wanted to scale things down but the government wanted the spectacle. Don't know if that's true or not of course but Charles is definitely a more informal monarch than the late Queen was.

Sorry mixed up both ceremonies. Harry will be in the same position as Edward at both. Can't see him being appointed Gold Stick like Anne!

This.

I spent 3 months at University in America and you were either Mr or Ms (not even Miss or Mrs which I really liked) unless you had an earnt title like Dr or Prof.

She is leaning into a British aristocratic tradition which is fine, but just say that. Don't pretend to be all Cali breezy casual and then use an aristocratic short cut. The fact she doesn't seem to understand what a dukedom is makes her look a bit ignorant. The fact she also doesn't use her title properly unless she sending you an ice cream gift basket is just plain stupid.

The feelings of those with a personal connection to Charles are private, they don’t really matter to anyone but them.

William and George will have to deal with an important change to their own lives. It’s a lot more to process.

Slight change of subject but it looks as if their birthday trip to Disney for Lilli was a freebie as they appear in a commercial promoting it .

AtIusvue · 18/09/2025 09:56

Yes, I seen that.

They got the full VIP experience…:.and all they had to do was plug Disney on tv.

I note this is part of their ‘happy’ era. Desperately trying to convince others that’s they're blissfully happy. What better way to display this, than talk about their love for the happiest place on earth.

Embarrassing.

Also the kids will join the dots when they are older….and see their special family birthday trip was just another brand exercise. The kickback from the kids will be epic.

Yes, but they plonked heart emojis over the kids' faces, so that cancels out any exploitation.

Apparently.

So what if a company approached you and said a fre holiday for your family full vip experience if you promote it are you going to say no?

If they are happy to do this what is it to you? They arent doing it to convince. I wouldnt turn down a freebie either and I wojkdnt give two fuss what anyone thought.

People of people getting freebies from companies by promoting their products. Nothing wrong what that.

I was once told extensively by a SF taxi driver about how wonderful the queen is and how great it is that we respect the royal family so much.

I couldn't get a word in edgeways with anything to the contrary.

Not all Americans, but some Americans very much admire the royal family.

Some of us don’t crave attention. I don’t enter competitions that require me to appear on camera being ecstaticly surprised by my win. So yes, that is exactly the sort of offer I would turn down, especially if I had the money to pay for it myself. But I have principles and some self respect.
