This short meeting was an ice-breaker, that's all. What happens next will show whether they are reconciled or not, if they meet up again in the near future for a longer time or will anything be leaked to the media? I think H has to learn to ignore people who ask him how KC is - just smile and walk on by, be more Mr Zippy.

My understanding is that probs 2 years ago - KC3 had a birthday call with PH, A&L - and then PH spoke about it to the media and monetised it within days and KC3 was very upset as this was a private, personal family interaction which needed to stay private.

Why are people assuming the video calls would be like walking in a minefield

As the posts above show - probably more of a minefield than Harry's walk through an actual minefield (no doubt carefully cleared in advance)

I agree, but mostly because photos of Harry’s proximity to the crown is sellable fodder for Meghan. It was only last week she was giving an interview to Bloomberg about her title and a “dookdom” and the Sussex name, only a couple of months ago her personalized stationery with HRH on it found its way into the news. It’s all monetizing the royal connection. The royal connection, as she’s proved with her podcasts and Netflix output, is all she has that’s worth any money. And she’s shown she has no trouble milking it.

Ultimately Harry is his father’s son. He’s done some terrible things, and for profit. But I don’t think you can blame a father for wanting peace in his final years. I suspect these appearances in the UK will rumble on until KC3 passes; Meghan will continue to profit off of them; it will all continue to be murky. It’s far easier for a brother to cut a sibling off than for a parent to do so. William’s reign will see a different approach to Harry. But for now, Meghan and Harry can still make hay. And I’m sure they will - they need the money.

It’s interesting that Sophie arrived and left before Harry and that Harry was relegated to using the visitor entrance.

That was so cringe, the interviewer asked her to explain and Meghan was stumbling over her words and utterly clueless, she really has no depth whatsoever, imagine marrying into the British Royal family and not bothering to learn how titles work, she is shallow beyond belief.

So long as she has the title that’s all she is bothered about . Not interested in the how or why but she will hang on it like a dog with a bone .

Also, didn't she say that her official title was "Meghan, Duchess of Sussex?" I'm sure someone on here recently said that that term was used for divorcees?

I suspect MM will be up for that and will file the stories for her book after KC3 has passed, they are divorced or when she needs the cash.

If they strip the HRH and Sussex titles then she will be Princess Henry for a nanosecond before it morphs into Princess Meghan so be careful what you wish for.

And if he'd stayed tight lipped, walked on and said nothing, the risk then is of GRIM FACED HARRY REFUSES TO CONFIRM KING IS WELL - IS THE END NIGH?? style headlines. On this point I think he made a reasonable call. It was a bland acceptable answer. Maybe he just needs to 👍 as he walks on. (The 👍 photo would be in the papers which is an outcome Harry would probably be ok with.)

I hate the whole idea of titles - it's like saying you are better than those around you. Why?! Because you were born into or married into a family line that has conquered others, pillaged others, etc. A family that has accrued vast wealth and assets over the years and doesn't seem to be effected by inheritance tax, etc the way others are...by 'others' I mean us - the plebs, the great unwashed.. It is fundamentally unfair - I would respect H & M so much more if they said we are no longer using titles. They've saddled their children with titles too which will set them apart from their peer group, etc.

I would serve a whole roasted deer, complete with antlers, for Christmas. A boar's head. Light up a plum pudding. Pipe them all into dinner. Bring in carolers, mummers, and people hunting the wren. Film it as a cultural program. Let's see how happy the American contingent is when they sit at the table.

It's actually quite clever in a way, on the part of Harry and Meghan.

From the moment a photograph is published of Charles with Harry, or Harry and Meghan, or Harry and Meghan and the children, Meghan's As Ever line will take off. People in the US will pay for the royal "sprinkle" (you can't get Highgrove products here), and the American market is all Meghan cares about (she certainly doesn't care for Harry's family or the UK). And, she would defend herself by saying she started As Ever while still in purdah, totally no-contact with the RF. Harry will say that Peter advertises milk in China; this is Meghan's own hard work starting an entirely new line from scratch by herself. It came first, not the extra and new-again royal pizzaz. I imagine this is what Netflix is holding out for.

It's gonna happen, unless Charles and the men in grey ensure no such photos ever reach the public. Personally I don't think Harry wants to return to the UK full-time, and Meghan absolutely would love never to set foot in the country again unless she's getting paid for it (paid a lot). So Harry could easily commit to not monetizing the link in the UK, but we live in a global world.

But there won't be any photographs. Certainly not with Meghan and the children. Where would the photos be taken? As you say, Meghan is unlikely to ever visit Britain again and Charles certainly isn't going to California. So there won't be any photos.

And I really don't think people are going to pay well over the odds for pancake mix because Harry was photographed with Charles. It's not like people aren't aware that he's the King's son!

I think photos are almost guaranteed at KC3's funeral (and I wouldn't put it past them for those to be the first ever photos of Archie and Lilibet - eclipsing a good bit of BBC coverage). I hate to be maudlin, but that's in direct answer to the question. So not photos with Charles, but certainly photos of royal-ness, with members of the RF, being treated like royalty in the UK.

People pay well over the odds for Highgrove goods! Her stuff isn't crazy-expensive for what it is, and she'd make good money if she sold a lot of it. Plus, she was out there just last week garnering front-page interest talking about her title and royal-ness in the very same interview in which she discussed As Ever.

Maybe KC3 will meet his DGC in a 3rd neutral country? Maybe Thailand and they could wrap it up with MM Dad at the same time?
