The thing is, with all these carefully obscured images—whether from the back, in profile, or at a distance—you can actually piece together a fairly clear idea of what the children look like. I feel I already have a strong impression of both, and in Lilibet’s case, I’m confident I could even pick her out in a lineup. My suspicion is that part of the reluctance to share unobstructed photographs stems from their resemblance to Thomas Markle. If the children bore a stronger likeness to Diana or the late Queen, I suspect we’d be seeing far more of them.

I thought they said that Lilibet had blue eyes, like Diana?

I agree, I think in all likelihood they, or at least Lilibeth from what we have seen of her, resemble the Markles, I think the photos of Archie showed a strong resemblance to Meghan.

its kind of funny how the Sussex squad are excitedly claiming the kids look just like the Spencer’s, which Harry also said on US TV, yet the only good looking one of the Spencer’s was Diana, and William is the one who looks most like her.

It's like some weird eugenics thing, though, isn't it? So desperate for the kids to resemble Diana. Why can't they look like Doria?

They look like Diana's brother, Earl Spencer but from what H&M have posted, they don't look a lot like Diana.

I know, right? They seem almost obsessed with making the kids “Diana’s doubles.” Funny thing is, I’ve never heard William or Catherine go on about that. The only thing I remember them saying was that Louis is the only one who really takes after Catherine.

Honestly, the only grandchild who has even a touch of Diana in him is George, and that’s more in his expressions. Face-wise he’s a mix of the Windsors (King George VI) and Johnny Spencer. Charlotte looks way more like the late Queen and Sarah Chatto, and Louis is basically a mini Michael Middleton.

At the end of the day, that’s just genetics. Kids can take after all sorts of people in the family tree. William has always looked like Diana but has grown into his Windsor looks as he’s got older. Harry always had more of Philip in his face with the Spencer colouring, and Meghan used to look a lot like Thomas with Doria’s colouring before the cosmetic work. It makes sense that they would look more like Thomas Markle, and the Markles are also clearly a red head family, so the ginger was always going to come out in their kids.

@EmpressSisi don’t you think George looks like Michael Middleton? I have to say when W was young, I never noticed how much he looked like his dm. He had a lovely head of hair!

I’ve never really thought that about George, to be honest. But I was looking through some photos of the young Charles Spencer and then Johnny Spencer, and I just couldn’t believe how much George takes after him.

I think there’s a lot you could read into their focus on their children’s hair, none of which reflects well on them.

It’s odd - I think most people would like their dcs to resemble their side of the family - or at least not look too much like their mil !!

It’s all rather insulting to Doria not to get a look-in on the name nor be mentioned on the appearance front.

It just shows you how they regard Doria in all this.

Others have put it better, I own. Not comely enough for Meghan Markle - that is, more Markle than Windsor, perhaps - rather sad if that is indeed how she thinks.

But children's faces have a certain plasticity and evolve over time. Many children in my family who were terribly unfortunate looking as children grew out of it. Brains matter far more in the real world, in any event. We can’t all be good looking.

Perhaps personality matters more? Being decent and honest, having integrity, treating others well. I think those matter more.

She definitely had blue eyes in her first birthday photos at Frogmore. And bright red hair. The latest back of the head photo shows it's still red, maybe a bit darker. I don't know where Harry gets golden from but he clearly wishes that his daughter looked exactly like his mum and that's a recipe for all sorts of trouble. Lili will be her own person.

As a poster said on a previous thread -

It’s very strange that they seem to emphasise how white and English their dcs look when they were the ones who caused a massive fuss about a senior RF member speculating about the colour of their baby’s skin.
I think it’s a shame that both W and H named their dds after the paternal dgm and neither of the maternal dgms got a look in.

Charlotte is Pippa’s middle name and Elizabeth is Carol and Catherine’s middle name as well as being her GGM.

Isnt the name Carol derived from Charlotte (or the other way around) I think the name Charles is from the same root as as well

Yes, I read that with Charlotte they were honouring Charles and Carole.
