How can Harry be so deluded?

The paranoia deepens

I don't really know what to conclude from this other than that Harry must feel the victim of a deep state conspiracy. Being a spoilt brat, and not understanding that he's there to serve his country rather than the country being there to serve him, can't help. Even if he did fear strategic delays, why would he jump to the conclusion that specific individuals have it in for him, rather than that there's a bigger picture to consider?

I just can't fathom the depths of misery and confusion he must experience on a daily basis. He must think his whole life was a lie until he met Meghan. I really do think things with Harry are much worse than they seem. Which puts an entirely different, and much darker, gloss on all of Meghan's utterings of her era of joy.

I honestly wouldn't want to be in their orbit. And I wonder whether those who remain in their orbit are desperate, whether as friends or employees. They're too much.

Harry and Meghan explored changing surname to Spencer amid children’s passport delays

Exclusive: source says couple feared unexplained wait was due to king’s opposition to their children bearing HRH title

Question for @GiveMeSpanakopita's PR expertise, if that's OK.

There was a DM article yesterday, supposedly giving the RF reaction to the twerking video.
Would that have been approved before publishing? And if so, is that a PR mistake, given that the 'grey rock' response had done well so far?

I think William is more likely to do something drastic. The King has cancer and clearly loves his son whereas William is finished with him .
And before the what about Andrew starts - yes he should also have his Dukedom removed.

I think it’s crap if KC III leaves it to William to do it. H will spend the rest of his life directing bitterness and anger towards William but if the king does it, H will be angry but when the king passes away, it’s over. The Danish Queen has set a precedent that KC can point to.

bluegreygreen · 08/06/2025 11:05

Different families - and different cultures - have different greeting traditions.

Have been thinking about this recently, and loving the descriptions upthread of different greeting traditions.

I think most families, almost without realising it, will have their own traditions of how they greet people on meeting for the first time that day. In my own family it will depend on who the person is but is a combination of rising to greet elders, handshakes, hugs.

Whether the tradition is a handshake or a fistbump, a cuddle or a curtsey, you would not expect someone joining the family to object, or to ridicule the practice.

I agree.

I can see why KCIII may not want to waste time on it and would rather enjoy his reign, but I'm sure he could have people working on the paperwork and sign things, privately if necessary, so that they could then be announced later as his decisions.

Hmmm but whay family expexts you to cutest to the queen in private? You would think if they are not an institution then in private you wouldn't have to carry on those types of protocols...?

Loads of cultures physically defer to their elders and the patriarch/matriarchs of their family.

Off the top of my head I can think of the Japanese concept of Xiao (filial piety) where children are expected to defer and bow to their parents and elders as a sign of respect, and in Islamic households children (even adult children) often sit at their mother feet for their blessings as a sign of humility, respect and love for their mothers, as Muhammad said “paradise lies at the feet of your mother.”

Different families have different traditions. If you’re joining a family and want to ingratiate yourself into it, you would respect their traditions and join in. You most certainly wouldn’t mock them for it!

IsoldeWagner · 08/06/2025 11:25

It's the mocking that's so nasty.

Mocking but also living off the benefits of the mocked.

The shipping costs of wine will be considerable, won't they, compared to pancake mix and flower sprinkles. Though if they put it in the Netflix stores, so people can pick it off the shelf, it might do well.

Vespanest · 08/06/2025 11:35

I just can't see Harry's path now, he can't even become the home maker as Meghan has painted the picture of her and the nanny. I thought the separation of brands at the time was to protect Harry from the bully accusations but now appears to be to provide Meghan a commercial venture. He has made himself redundant

Meghan’s Whine.

Good to drink alongside Harry’s Bitter 🤣

Haha yes!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 08/06/2025 11:52

I notice on X today that Meghan’s supporter’s are back posting pornographic photoshopped images of Kate

And these are the people who query the mindsets of others Hmm

The desperation is real, but then so is that of their idols so I suppose it's only natural that they'll want to follow

slinkiemalinkiey · 08/06/2025 11:54

How about the Royal Flush? 💩

MrsLeonFarrell · 08/06/2025 13:07

I thought The Mail article saying that Meghan doesn't care about the prudish UK, and anyway the tweaking was really popular in the US, and incidentally Gen Z love her etc, all quoting sources, was really interesting. It came across as a bit desperate and I'm not sure it was even true. Maybe some of our American posters know?

@GiveMeSpanakopitafrom Harry's interview after the court case it is pretty clear that he genuinely believes he warrants special treatment simply because he was born royal. The very fact of his existence should cause money to fall out of the sky and people to stand back in awe. I've always thought that he felt like that but it was fascinating to see him say it. He really is an Andrew in his sense of entitlement and arrogance.

Well Charles really has caused this mess, not William. It should be Charles dealing with his son and dil. To allow William and then George a better experience.

Lifestooshort71 · 08/06/2025 13:30

Well Charles really has caused this mess, not William
How is all this down to Charles?

HonoriaBulstrode · 08/06/2025 13:41

Well Charles really has caused this mess, not William.

How?

I'm sure that Charles and William discuss the issue, as I'm sure they discuss many other matters. William won't suddenly find himself King with no clue what's going on. And unlike Harry, he probably does know how long his father is likely to have, and how urgently they need to deal with any particular issue.

And, as has been said, H&M are gradually sinking into obscurity. At some point H's court cases will be over and there'll be nothing for him to talk to the BBC about. There'll be no more $$$$ deals with the likes of Netflix - maybe just WLM dropping a few episodes every so often. Give it another five years....

But if the RF take any action, they risk stirring it all up again - more interviews, more accusations of racism, maybe another book.

The only person who 'really caused this mess' is Harry

They can pretend all they like about Americans loving it, Did any mainstream media report on it? , the only very short article I could find was Newsweek, and the comments were overwhelmingly negative. Megyn Kelly, did a short podcast on it, (a podcast that is regularly in the top 20) literally thousands of negative comments. The majority of US SM commentary is negative.

IMDb also reported it as 'Desperate'

Meghan Markle Shares Desperate Video Of Herself Twerking In A Hospital Room Ahead Of Giving Birth To Lilibet For Her Daughter’s Fourth Birthday
Meghan Markle

Yeah right, the Americans who actually bothered to report on it, did not love it by any means, everyone saw through the desperation and indignity of it..

AtIusvue · 08/06/2025 14:02

I seriously hope moving forward, Harry focuses his attention on little Archie.

It’s clear, for whatever reason, that Meg sees Lili being a part of her business future. She mentioned it specifically on her last podcast episode with Tina Knowles and in her interview with People magazine, for the As ever launch:

“The landing page of asever.com features a photo of Meghan and Lilibet hand in hand in their backyard, surrounded by trees. Having her daughter on the site was especially meaningful for Meghan.
“Being able to have my own little girl, as I’ve spent so much of my life championing the rights of girls and women, and to be able to see this as a multigenerational story — Archie is of course included in that, my husband is of course included in that — but I love the heritage feeling of it and knowing this is something that I can create in front of my daughter and teach her what it’s like to be a working mom,” she says. “This is something that hopefully can be part of her legacy too.”

It’s strange, that Archewell productions and the Archewell foundation, named after Archie- she’s never once mentioned this being part of Archie’s legacy and him becoming part of the business.
Its also odd, that as Archie will be the one to inherit the Dukedom, you would think she would be pushing this ‘heritage’ angle but hasn’t. Talking about Archie fulfilling his legacy of becoming the Duke of Sussex working on behalf of the Archewell foundation/Invictus blah blah.

All the focus is on Lili for some reason. It’s was deluge of pics for her bday, but only one pic for Archie. Even the Disney pics seem off. Archie seems to have to be manhandled by his parents in ways that Lili, the younger child isn’t. I don’t think they understand that it seems obvious from the outside now that the children are being treated differently. We know how that affected Harry’s mindset, so he really should be a little more aware.

bluegreygreen · 08/06/2025 14:09

Is the Dukedom a hereditary one, or does it return to the crown like Edinburgh?

AtIusvue · 08/06/2025 14:10

I’m pretty sure it’s passes on and doesn’t revert back.

BemusedAmerican · 08/06/2025 14:18

Most Gen Z in the US never think of Meghan. Our news is focused on the new tariffs, the ICE crackdown, and people beginning to starve because of the cuts to food banks. It's also a tough job market for new graduates.

Trump just called in the National Guard for LA. I've been listening to the radio for an hour this morning and the protest is increasing:

It is like H & M are living in a parallel universe to the rest of the US.

I think time will tell why and that it’s nothing to do with Lili being the favourite.

BemusedAmerican · 08/06/2025 14:27

At least Archie can wear shoes and actual clothes rather than spend his days barefoot and in pajamas.
