Netflix has delayed start of Meghans show

Just seen on Sky News. Breaking News headlines. Delayed because of the wild fires didn't say if this was technical difficulties or it would be a bit crass to launch a frothy type lifestyle show with all the devastation. Anyway it might be shelved for good with any luck.

This seems very mean spirited to hope it’s never shown. Nobody is forcing you to watch it

lostinthememory · 12/01/2025 22:37

She can't win.

If it had aired she would have been called inconsiderate and vapid for daring to release her show when this is going on.

TheBoysAndTheBallet · 12/01/2025 22:40

It's a bit ridiculous to postpone the show just because she's Californian.

comedycentral · 12/01/2025 22:43

It sounds like the right decision for her and Netflix at this time. She is criticised for everything anyway, there is no doubt in my mind that she would have been absolutely slated if she released it now anyway.

Who is forcing you to watch it?

Namechangedforthis25 · 12/01/2025 22:48

Why are you so bothered
don’t watch it if you don’t want to

to start a whole thread about this with such venom is sad

It's a bit ridiculous to postpone the show just because she's Californian.

It’s a frothy California-set lifestyle show about hosting people at home.

There’s also no way she can promote it at the moment, so it would be dead in the water.

I would love to know - what would you have said if she did not postpone?

I suspect that any decision made would not have pleased you...

BeautifulAsYou · 13/01/2025 03:30

I expect Meghan would be in support of the decision under the current circumstances. Shows have been delayed before due to events making the timing not right, they get shown at a later late. Why would you want it shelved for good, just don’t watch it if it’s not your thing.

GreenTeaLikesMe · 13/01/2025 03:31

Delaying the start is a very good idea. California is not going to be a happy state for a while, sadly.

Also, the irony of you mentioning it would be crass to launch the show in the current circumstances, when only a couple of days ago you started a thread because you were fed up of hearing about the fires. 🤨

coolkatt · 13/01/2025 04:33

Good, shows to all you haters that she is considerate of her fellow citizens, she's been out on the streets meeting people, doing things to help, just showing up, more than you lot sitting on sm bashing a woman for working and earning a living and showing her kids good ethics. She can't win no matter what she does so why u bothered about her show? Go slag off someone else now to
Make yourself feel good.

BlackChunkyBoots · 13/01/2025 04:46

@BeautifulAsYou It seems @Viviennemary only wants to come onto Mumsnet to complain.

Meghan can't do anything right. There is always someone out there to tell the world what an awful person she is. Ffs, give it a rest.

MissTrip82 · 13/01/2025 04:48

Sensible decision. I live somewhere regularly affected by bushfires and there are times when some things have to take a back seat. It would be in poor taste to air it at the moment.

It's not my thing so I won't watch but I expect many people will. I can't really imagine wishing a failed cooking show on a stranger. What an odd thing to do.

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 13/01/2025 08:13

It’s probably for the best. They’ve already been labelled disaster tourists. Let it all settle down and try again. She really does have the worse luck.

BustingBaoBun · 13/01/2025 12:16

How mean and spiteful.

But I missed the law that said you have to watch it. In case you didn't realise... you don't. It's not obligatory.

EdithWeston · 13/01/2025 12:30

Sensible decision

And a suitable announcement (no word salad)

Uta100 · 13/01/2025 12:35

I can’t believe this is breaking news on Sky. It’s ridiculous. I doubt it will get shown at all after the backlash she’s receiving for her “disaster tourism” appearance.

murasaki · 13/01/2025 12:36

Very sensible decision.

I'm also amazed by the number of people whose tvs don't have off buttons, so they are literally forced to watch things with their eyes held open like Alex in a Clockwork Orange.

It was a good decision to shelve it. An even better decision would be not to have made it in the first place. Everyone can see through them now Well nearly everyone.

queenofarles · 13/01/2025 15:15

Gosh I feel sorry for them! It’s the right thing to do but The build up for the show just got killed.

EdithWeston · 13/01/2025 15:37

I expect they’ll have planned to restart the build up in the 2 weeks to the new release date of 4 March (there was roughly that amount of lead time for the first announcement to the original launch date)

The Archewell statement on META, and talking about using platforms for joy etc seems very odd right now, though. When California is so very occupied with the fires and the wind forecast is once again adverse for the next 48 hours or so. (I’m even wondering if that was part of the original build-up plan and the Office forgot to reschedule it)

CathyorClaire · 13/01/2025 20:31

I doubt it will be shelved for good.

As I've said before I suspect NF are fulfilling some sort of contractual obligation prior to the end of the deal and are now looking to put out any old content to satisfy the terms.

My prediction is this will go ahead but will follow the same path as the tanked and derided 'Polo'.
