Just seen on Sky News. Breaking News headlines. Delayed because of the wild fires didn't say if this was technical difficulties or it would be a bit crass to launch a frothy type lifestyle show with all the devastation. Anyway it might be shelved for good with any luck.

I think she's finally made one good marketing decision.

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 14/01/2025 11:04

Her publicity stunt turning up to the fires to hug someone in her own team in a baseball cap has bombed spectacularly in the US. There’s no way they could release it now.

She keeps trying though, doesn’t she, you have to give her that.

According to rumours ( which of course may not have any truth !) it was Netflix who insisted it was postponed not Meghan .

Nothing ever pleases you does it?

That would make more sense. It did seem out of character for M's marketing team.

"Anyway it might be shelved for good with any luck."

You sound nice.

Doubt it will be shelved as Netflix have contractual obligations to satisfy with them, but it will sink like a stone, same as Polo.

Their contract won’t be renewed.

stillljh · 14/01/2025 12:11

Nobody is forcing you to watch it. You can scroll on by on Netflix or if you really object to Meghan's cooperation with Netflix you could cancel your subscription and state that as the reason why you are cancelling (this assumes you have a subscription of course, if you don't it affects you even less because you're not even paying for Netflix).

I think it will do better than 'Polo' but that's setting the bar low.

It's hard to know how this delay will affect it, but I reckon it will get reasonably high views initially. But that won't be sustained. I agree that NF are highly unlikely to renew the contract.

MrsLeonFarrell · 14/01/2025 13:12

March seems a much better time for the show anyway. The trailer was very Spring-like and sunny and I can see more people wanting to try new ideas in the Spring.

QuimCarrey · 14/01/2025 13:15

Sounds like a no brainer. This is not a good week to release a show about elevating cakes.

When you put it that way, is there ever a good week?

Lol. It is a rather saturated field. Some weeks are worse than others!

Now I've got visions of Harry juggling cakes.
Badly.

Are you listening, Netflix?!

Adamante · 14/01/2025 13:27

Honestly I feel a bit sorry for her. She just can’t catch a break, Covid just as they left & wanted to make a massive splash but had to lock down with the rest of us, other endeavors overshadowed by the deaths of PP & QEII & illness of other relatives, now this. I’d have given up long ago I think.

itsstillmehere · 14/01/2025 16:50

It's almost like someone doesn't like her.

Netflix has delayed start of Meghans show
Gowlett · 14/01/2025 16:56

I think there’s huge pressure on Meghan, as she really is the brains of the operation. Not sure she realised, when she married…

other endeavors overshadowed by the deaths of PP & QEII & illness of other relatives,

Really? I see it the other way round:

PP final days and weeks overshadowed by the bile that was the OW interview

QE II final months of her life and long reign blighed by Spare and H&M behaviour. Also MM 'threats' in The Cut interview days before QE death.

Other relatives cancer surgery and chemo treatment blighted by H&M mean SM gang - they never called off the dogs - seemingly content with the mauling.

Alarmclockstop · 14/01/2025 23:27

I'm a bit disappointed. I completely agree it is the right thing to do, what is happening in California is awful, but watching it in the cold dark January nights would be light relief.
By March I'm done with TV and want to doing things.

I feel the same. Meghan has gone with poor little me stuff. Which is a load of nonsense anyway. It's all so fake. Now it's wonderful me and the wonderful life I am leading. People have had enough of it.

Given the bad publicity they’ve received for their ‘from the office office of’ word salad aimed at Meta and the questions raised about their appearance to hug people affected by the fire it seems like a sensible decision - they need to let things settle before their latest offering to the world is unveiled.

Lifestooshort71 · 15/01/2025 11:09

It doesn't seem to matter whether she keeps a low profile or puts herself out there, the snipers have her in their sights ready to take her down, and I don't just mean on here. I'm not a fan nor am I particularly anti (in the grey zone really) but they have to bring in an enormous amount of cash just to pay for their luxurious lifestyle, and I think the penny's dropped that she can't rely on Harry to do it - I think he's more likely to be haemorrhaging money on court cases than filling up the coffers. Yes, she doesn't read the room and makes some absurdly socially-inept choices, but I'm giving her a break with her NF series (I still won't watch it as it's not my thing) and hope it's a success.

JingsMahBucket · 15/01/2025 11:34

Nobody is calling it disaster tourism other than weirdo British people who don’t understand philanthropy outside of the royal family.
