Just seen on Sky News. Breaking News headlines. Delayed because of the wild fires didn't say if this was technical difficulties or it would be a bit crass to launch a frothy type lifestyle show with all the devastation. Anyway it might be shelved for good with any luck.

By delaying the show (and I understand why) all that’s happening is a vacuum has been created, and instead of it being filled with talk of the show (good, bad and the ugly) it’s being filled with the disaster tourist stuff.

She was already being called tone deaf as soon as the trailer was out and an attempt was made to get some good press visiting the fires sites. They didn’t have to pose for pictures, they could have said no to the tour as they were aware cameras would be around. I do think they wanted to help, but they also knew that their appearance would grab headlines and maybe get some good PR. It’s obviously gone disastrously wrong.

But now in the lead up to the joyful TV show, it’s going to weeks of really negative press- worse than it was before. They’ve been branded ghouls. It would have been bad reviews anyway, but now it’s going to be catastrophic.

She really should stay away from the IG. All that will happen is that she will be accused of trying to cultivate some good PR for herself. She needs to keep her head down, stay quiet and just before launch, she can put out some joyful instas.
It won’t happen, they have this weird need to constantly humiliate themselves, but someone really needs to get a grip of them. They are out of control.

We've got Invictus before the show airs, I think?
Plenty of opportunities there for M to win back the public😉

EdithWeston · 15/01/2025 16:52

She could still be OK at Invictus Games if she turned up in a supporting role (so watches Harry on parade from the stands as this is his gig, not hers), wears Invictus branded sports gear for daytime events, and and a re-wear of something she looks good in for receptions (such as that yellow dress she wore in Nigeria).

Harry could also make a visit to some of the Invictus events other than the Games themselves, and there be only low key reporting of it on the Invictus website (it'll get picked up by others from there) It's an aspect of the Foundation's work that never seems to get any attention, so going to one or more would be good for the Foundation as a whole, and shows them actively engaged beyond the headlines. Mind you, that'll only work if it's an initiative that is kept up, and their presence is never flaunted.

Atlasvue · 15/01/2025 17:00

She won’t turn up in the branded gear, save for maybe a hat. She does love a baseball cap 🧢

She can’t help herself, it will be a parade of outfits, multiple changes a day.

She should stay away and keep her head down.

LaMarschallin · 15/01/2025 17:06

Would be better if she doesn't merrily trip along at the head of some marching medalists in her little romper suit.
I think that was pretty much disapproved of.

IcedPurple · 15/01/2025 17:12

itsstillmehere · 15/01/2025 14:43

I think Meghan thinks she is too important to just be an actress now.

I agree.

Being an actress is hard work, and you have to cooperate with others and listen to instructions, even if you're an A lister. When she was plain Meghan Markle, she seemed to have little difficulty with any of that, but now that she's a Duchess, everything has changed!

Regarding the delay of the show, I don't think it will make a huge difference one way or the other. I still expect it to get reasonably high viewing figures initially, maybe even Top Ten. But it will then tail off and be forgotten. It's a massively overcrowded genre and Meghan hasn't put the effort into building up a relevant profile. So I don't see it being a springboard to a successful lifestyle brand, and I don't see NF renewing their contract.

milveycrohn · 15/01/2025 17:26

I think it is good idea to postpone until March. What I have seen of the trailer it seems to indicate it is more suitable for a spring launch (the images I have seen appear to have been filmed in the spring).
It gives her the chance of editing the series somewhat (in view of the bad reviews so far).
Frankly, I hope it is a success, though I am unlikely to watch it myself.

Not sure how its disaster tourism
to visit to listen and offer support those affected by a natural disaster in your home state and they city you’re from.

I'm sure most of us would do the same. I do it for any where in my own city

Apparently it's illegal to be there, except they're in their faux royal tour (aka trying to get some positive press) ... I hope they get an arse kicking from the authorities for their brazen PR stunt

Doubtful, as they were with the authorities. I am wondering whether they were invited by Newsome, Bass etc to deflect all the negative attention away from the authorities and their alleged incompetent conduct.

Wont have been the first time that they have been targeted as 'useful fools'

Unfortunately I think we will have daily bulletins from now until 4th March, every donation and appearance will be given a fanfare. I also wonder whether they’re compiling footage to pitch to NF in the hope of an extension to their contract.

But every appearance she makes, the more unpopular she becomes.

It’s quite the pickle for a fame-hungry celeb.

Saveusernames · 15/01/2025 18:46

I also think that there will not be much appetite for it in 6 weeks time either from the important and influential Cali audience - depends how much of the original edit is 'local' footage etc.....as by then people will be in the real thick of it and the fatigue of pushing through this bleak environmental disaster will likely jar with the fluffy sentiment of the series.

They were viewing streets that residents weren’t allowed to return to. I would be pissed off if I couldn’t check on my house but some random celebs could.

I was reading earlier that the fires could still be burning. Obviously not dangerously out of control like last week, but smaller contained fires burning for weeks. But still going nonetheless.
They are even talking that it could affect the Oscars which is the beginning of March, also6 weeks away.

Nobody is calling it disaster tourism other than weirdo British people who don’t understand philanthropy outside of the royal family.

It was literally an American actress you said it 😂😂😂

And "weirdo British people" is extremely rude!

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 15/01/2025 19:05

It’s almost as if some can’t accept that it’s Americans turning on the duke and duchess and not the awful racist salty Brits!

wigsonthegreenandhatsforthelifting · 15/01/2025 19:06

Mylovelygreendress · 15/01/2025 12:36

Well she didn’t exactly set the heather alight with her acting career did she ? A ( soon to be ending) supporting role in a cable show isn’t exactly Oscar material .

I'm not sure she ever really wanted to be an actor, just famous!

Would you go on a tour and bring an entourage?

When you think for a moment, that Harry and Meghan left the UK on their freedom flight because the environment was ‘unsurvivable’ . In that 18 month period of her being a working Royal, the headlines weren’t even that bad. She was criticised for holding her bump by some opinion writers, the banana thing and holding Archie is a weird way, but it wasnt that bad in comparison to now. This made her feel suicidal, that she couldn’t handle the onslaught.

The worst of the British headlines came after they had left and we started to hear about what happened around the wedding, what really happened on the Australian tour, then the bullying accusations etc.

But even then, by far the worst media attention they’ve had has been when they’ve been in the US.
She’s been called- not talented (talent agent), Instagram loving bitch wife (South Park), fucking grifter (Spotify exec), dictator in heels (HR article), has a bachelor producer in her ear (the Cut), her pics printed and questioned in the US, of the ‘car chase’ in NY(the pics weren’t printed here and the UK papers were really behind the curve on the story) now they’re being branded disaster tourists and tone deaf.

How was she falling apart over a few criticisms in relation to how you behave as a royal, in the UK between 2018-2019 but she can handle all of this?

It makes no sense at all.

I think she knew she was caught out by the Royals and the UK public and she wanted to cut and run. I think she’s used to people being ‘dazzled’ by her and she just couldn’t compute an alternative, so decided she wanted to leave. I’m sure she was feeling upset and misjudged, but how did relatively mild headlines reduce her to her worst moment but now she carries on regardless?

If you think that, then perhaps you should think again. They didn't want to leave - they wanted half and half.

Which puts all the illogicalities noted in that post into a different, and I think sharper, focus

Edited

Because the ‘almost unsurvivable’ line only came out once they were denied their half in half out revolutionary new way of royaling.

I think they festered together during Covid lockdowns and rewrote their memories of just how bad it was and how awful everyone was to them because they were so angry at not getting their own way.

itsstillmehere · 15/01/2025 19:38

They very much wanted to leave the UK. They also wanted a half and half option.

Their idea was to live in a commonwealth country, become financially independent and collaborate’ with the Queen.

So, yes they did want to leave the UK.

What they actually said was that they wanted half and half - they did not want to leave the UK and expected to remain as part of their new balance

They said they plan to balance their time between the UK and North America while "continuing to honour our duty to the Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages".
"This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity."

They said this, but all their actions since have indicated that this wasn’t their intended goal.

Meghan never intended to live in the UK. Even if things had gone well, hers would always have been visits. Her heart and soul is in California.
