Looks like William took George and Charlotte to see Taylor Swift for his birthday. Looks like Taylor was just as happy to meet them as they were to meet her.

Why should he. Are you paying for him to? He is not a working royal, remember?

Another poster said something along those lines.

I simply responded.

Not in the context of what I was saying which is the Queen's philosophy that the royal family has to be seen to be believed. If William and Harry want me to believe they are doing hard work, then it's not enough to just say it's happening.

No - she said “I have to be seen to be believed” - the monarch, the embodiment of the Crown - to be seen as a living breathing representative.

The Head of State is the one who can’t disappear or focus on projects out of the public eye - which is why Charles has been pushing through his illness to do as much as possible.

William’s role is to learn as much as possible about the country and the commonwealth before he gets the top job, to manage the Duchy of Cornwall, and to support the King when asked, which includes requests from the government to represent or host. And provide and raise the next heir.

Everything else he does now is extra - he’s decided he wants to focus on a few large impact projects like Earthshot and the Royal Foundation rather than do smaller visits to several hundred patronages. He’ll have less choice as soon as he is King.

Not sure why that posted twice.

Given up caring.

Bizarre isn't it? I often find that people who loathe the Royals and are so rude and nasty about them, are unhappy resentful people. Probably jealous of a neighbour or acquaintance who has just got a new car, because they don't feel they work hard enough for what they're got. Bitter, angry, resentful people who hate ANYone who has anything they don't. I pity them truth be told.

I don't understand it. I'm not well at the moment (suspected Noro) while still doing 24/7 care. The recent pics of William and the kids have made me smile, because it's nice to see people having fun, especially those who've been through a hard, worrying time (that all the privilege in the world can't really protect them from)

It isn't republicanism, it's sour envy, IMHO.

Based on this, I think we should demand more karaoke of William.

It could save the FA some money at the Cup Final, and greatly increase the gaiety of the nation. Yes! 🏆⚽️🎤🎶👏

AllMyRowdyFriends · 22/06/2024 17:37

Wasn’t Taylor also interviewed on Archetypes with Meghan Markle? I guess they will have all known each other a long time.

silverneedle · 22/06/2024 17:37

Lovely photo.

Sovereign Grant which is paid from our yearly taxes when he goes on official engagements.

Sovereign Grant comes from income from the Crown Estate not our taxes.
‘The Crown Estate does not pay the Sovereign Grant to the Monarch directly. The Crown Estate makes payments each year to the Consolidated Fund and HM Treasury pays the Sovereign Grant to the Monarch.’

LOL - random guy!

In some parts of America he’s way more famous than William.

Lol - I didn't recognise him either!! Poor Travis!

MrsPositivity1 · 22/06/2024 17:38

Ah I love that

not trying to be coy, thought I was being clear? People have been defending his lack of events and appointments by saying he is shielding somewhat to protect Kate who may have lowered immunity depending on treatment. I think this and football match makes it clear that isn't really an issue since he seems to be happy to mill around and have close contact with many people who have certainly not been shielding themselves and would pose an exposure risk.

None of us know how ill she has been or how much his children have needed him to be around. And yes, I’m quite sure that they’ve got staff to help with the practical stuff, but ffs, if he’s got an opportunity to take some time off to support his wife and kids through a frightening time, then good for him for putting his loved ones first. And he’s not even ‘off’. He’s still got to smile and wave and accept that all these strangers will be staring at him and his kids.

And I think they are always working. Yes, they have lots of money and privilege. But unlike us, they don’t get to log off on a Friday afternoon and bugger off to Centre Parcs for the weekend. Or sit in a pub garden with their mates for a catch up in the sun. Their every move is stared at, scrutinised and debated. When was the last time your dress sense was debated in the daily mail? They can’t even talk to their children without someone hiring a lip reader to work out what they’re saying. If they go into the military, they’re criticised for increasing the risk to their unit. If they don’t, they’re cowards. If they get a ‘normal’ job, like a helicopter rescue pilot, they’re criticised for wanting privacy. If they spend their time shaking hands and cutting ribbons, they’re criticised for being detached from reality and having an easy time of it. They can’t go to the toilet without their security knowing where they are in case some sodding lunatic tries to hurt them or their children. And they can never respond to any criticism or snap and tell anyone to piss off. They have to constantly be smiling and happy to greet people and wave at them. You might think that’s a fair trade for their privilege but I don’t think many of us would last a month. And none of them have even had a choice in it. Their whole lives are mapped out for them the second they’re born.

So you might think he’s work-shy. I think him and his wife have done more for the future of the monarchy than anyone since the Queen and I’d love to see you try and do what they have to do.

I think she turned it down.

I can’t recall it going ahead.

I wonder if this indicates William is ready to crack on with some actual work. He has only done 9 engagements so far in June, according to the Court Circular, yet he has the time/energy/fitness to leverage his position as Prince of Wales to get prime tickets to an England football match and now Taylor Swift (so crowds clearly not an issue with Kates treatment and exposure risk). William is next in line to the throne, when will we demand more of him? It's time for him to step up, the King (who is battling cancer at 70+) is doing more than him. Wheeling his cute kids out for a photo op to make us forget his laziness is becoming wearing.

You always get that one bitter, jealous person.

£345,000,000 a year extra it would save, so yes- good point.
And we'd be a more democratic country. This is even more important.

Well given Brexit was supposed to give us an extra £350000000 a week for the NHS I don’t think we’d really notice the difference 🙄

RedYellowPinkGreenPurpleOrangeBlue · 22/06/2024 17:41

I also cringe at the people who have to parp on about how many people have thanked/liked their posts, like it's some kind of proof, or gotcha! It's embarrassing. 😆 I also bet they haven't got the amount they claim

Hey, all my posts on this thread have got 110-115 'thanks' each @SummaLuvin So waaaaaay more people agree with me than you! Grin

Yes we are still paying for him actually, how much has the tax payer had to fork out for his ridiculous court case so far? And he wants us to pay for his security on top of that, he owes this country a hell of a lot of money as wall as trying to drag it down globally, fortunately it’s not worked in the long run despite their best efforts.

Yep, I am cringing at @SummaLuvin 's posts.

Oh, but she has oooooodles of 'thanks' on her posts, so she is dead popular ya know! 😂

InSpainTheRain · 22/06/2024 17:42

How lovely! Great to see William being a wonderful dad. I'd have loved to have seen Prince Louis rocking around to Taylor 😀

AllMyRowdyFriends · 22/06/2024 17:43

Meghan wishes! She sent Taylor a handwritten note asking her to be on Archetypes, Meghan got a response from Taylor’s assistant saying thanks but no thanks, the pictures today must burn.

HadMeABlast · 22/06/2024 17:43

Granted.

AllMyRowdyFriends · 22/06/2024 17:44
