Part 4 of a nice, unproblematic thread to discuss some of the fab outfits from the Duchess of Sussex, and some of the many great causes she (and Harry) and Archewell supports.

She is very prominent in those pictures, that is the whole point.

She wants to be an influencer/model, good luck to her.

EdithWeston · 22/04/2024 19:27

When there's only two or 3 people in a picture, it's a bit hard to be inconspicuous!

I think it's absolutely fine that she took part (and IIRC, it's not the first time she's supported this charity publicly)

IsoldeWagner · 22/04/2024 19:32

That's the whole point! Being conspicuous.
She can support what she wants, but it's an interesting modus vivendi. She has to work at getting herself promoted and getting the clicks.
She has to be visible.

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 22/04/2024 20:04

I don’t know if this has already been stated but is that Meghan’s dog (Guy) in the photo of Abigail Spencer and the jam? You can also see the shadow of the person who is taking the photo…

Josette77 · 22/04/2024 23:08

It's crazy how alike Abigail and Meghan look.

I was so sad when Meghan ditched her beagle.
My dog is a beagle rescue too and you'd have to drag him out of my cold dead arms to ever separate us.

AutumnCrow · 22/04/2024 23:13

Is Abigail wearing a black ballgowny style frilly dress there? I feel like I'm hallucinating now.

Josette77 · 23/04/2024 00:05

Yep... And pearls. Lol

This would have had to be approved by Megs or suggested by her. It's cheesy in my opinion.

I don't think Meghan has a clear idea for the brand unfortunately. The logo is pretentious. The commercial is pretentious. But it's homemade jam... She doesn't want to be royal. It should be more farmers market than tea with the Queen.

At least that's how I would market it. But I also would not have encouraged her to sell jam.

Holistic tea blends maybe? I would have gone with health and wellness yoga mama. Aromatherapy. Yoga Mats. Boho decor. Yoga journals.

That's what I would have done.

pilates · 23/04/2024 05:52

Agree Josette77, your ideas would be better.

TogetherNormanDouglas · 23/04/2024 09:39

So Abigail Spencer isn’t a cousin? Just the same name?

Olderthanthetrees · 23/04/2024 10:25

I am not a member of the SS or a rabid supporter of Meghan but It’s more than evident now that whatever photograph she is in, whatever product she sells, people will analyse in detail and criticise negatively.

Personally, I think this is sad , and it must be horrible for her to have people constantly nit-picking and attributing negative opinions and motives to every single thing she does.

And in doing so, they follow the lead of the Daily Mail. What a great example to follow! 😃

Some people almost seem to take it as a personal affront that she has rejected life as a British royal and sought happiness elsewhere with her dh and young dc and yet she is perfectly entitled to do so. Honestly, murderers attract less opprobrium.

And to those calling her a grifter; I think that’s unfair as she did pretty well for herself before she was married. In fact she is the only royal
wife who actually had any sort of proper career to leave before marrying in!

OneHeartySnail · 23/04/2024 10:31

Sophie had a genuine career...

Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, had a career in PR, opening her own agency before she stopped to become a “full time” royal

edited to replace word that got eaten 🙄

and then to add xpost with @OneHeartySnail

OneHeartySnail · 23/04/2024 10:35

Tbh, the furore over K's mothers day photo was far, far worse than any discussion of M's photos!

ArcaneWireless · 23/04/2024 10:50

I agree with some of the points made but I lost interest when you pointed out that if people criticised anything, then they were following the Daily Mail.

Women, in case you haven’t noticed, are capable of independent thought. Unlike those who seem to pull out the same tired old insults thinking it is the worst thing you could saddle people with.

As for calling them grifters? Someone who may have had experience of them called them that. ‘Fucking grifters’ was the term I believe.

One would have to ask why he actually chose that term.

We have different ideas of what constitutes a proper career too.

OneHeartySnail · 23/04/2024 10:31

Sophie had a genuine career...

Yes quite right I had forgotten that and about the scandal of the Fake Sheikh

Word by word, Sophie digs herself deeper into trouble

ArcaneWireless · 23/04/2024 11:01

Pivot.

AliceOlive · 23/04/2024 11:55

“she has rejected life as a British royal”

I don’t think they rejected that life. They are busy trying to recreate it now in a country that rejected titles and royalty centuries ago.

ArcaneWireless · 23/04/2024 12:02

Indeed Alice.

Clinging desperately death grip style.

Regardless of the Fake Sheikh thing, she still had a career prior to being in the Firm. Nice try at diverting 😆

ArcaneWireless · 23/04/2024 13:24

Love the dog in the photo.

I don’t think I’d fit in over in them thar Montecito.

I wouldn’t be rolling about in grass in a posh frock.

I’m trying to imagine the conversation that lead up to this photo.

BemusedAmerican · 23/04/2024 13:29

OMG! Will the grass stains come out of my black ball gown?

AliceOlive · 23/04/2024 13:32

Let’s go outside with the bowl of lemons and take your picture while you roll around in the grass and the dog sniffs you. Then we can post it on instagram.

EdithWeston · 23/04/2024 14:15

Is it definitely a ballgown?

From what I can see it could be any dress that's tiered like a ra-ra skirt
