Part 4 of a nice, unproblematic thread to discuss some of the fab outfits from the Duchess of Sussex, and some of the many great causes she (and Harry) and Archewell supports.

Thanks @skullbabe , what a lovely, heartwarming picture! And all for a good cause, as ever.

I'm always impressed by how M&H find overlooked causes to use their star power (obsession-level, judging by the media coverage and discussion board FRENZY over every single teeny itsy bitsy thing M&H do, including making 50 pots of jam) to attract attention to causes such as mothers in foster care. Can't remember when I last thought of that!

Not much most people can do about it, but I supposed they could support Alliance of Moms or at least buy the T-shirt, which is the point of the promotion.

Well done Meghan, Abigail (whose dresses absolutely kicked *ss in Suits) and Kelly! 🌺

Kelly Zafjen posted these sweet pics with Abigail Spencer and Meghan for the campaign with the alliance of moms for proceeds from the shirt to go towards young parents who foster (in anticipation of US Mother’s Day).

Looking fab as usual in casual wear.

I really detest the use of the words "sweet pic" . What is a sweet pic? It sounds like Daily Mail talk.

Thanks so much for that close up of the Dior earrings. I love those - now off to find a dupe!

Try TheRealReal. They just sold an identical pair.

God, a bunch of middle aged women hanging out of each other and holding hands like a gang of young tweens "all for the 'gram". It's all so fake and superficial, no matter what the good cause might be.

That particular photo is a promo for a great charity, but the vacuousness of those photos posted, the only thing missing from that collection of silly photos is the piggy back one.

The "sweet pic" often shows someone giving a sweet nod to something, usually while they're stepping out.
I note that Meghan twinned with someone else in a white tee with groovy red writing, but was disappointed not to be told that she wore her raven locks tumbling around her shoulders...

Tabloid speak indeed Smile

At least there wasn’t a photo with hand over mouth which most teens do.

😀haha, maybe that one didn't make the cut, they certainly followed the teen insta reel photo format !

I wonder if that's a reaction to all the duck-faced pouting selfies; maybe they're trying to push their lips back in.

itwasahotsummersnight · 19/04/2024 08:38

I think she looks great - and very inoffensive photos, not sure what people are getting so worked up about.

pilates · 19/04/2024 09:46

Yes, she does look great but it’s a bit cringe when you see grown women replicating teenagers.

I don't think it's M per se whom people find annoying - it's the crazy adulation.

She looks incredible in both dresses and happy.

Well, yes - she might well look happy! She's living a luxe lifestyle without having to lift many fingers, all because she married a dozy prince. And the Netflix team were filming them for the forthcoming polo documentary, so M is basically acting her part. Whatever her shortcomings, I will admit M does a good smile and knows how to be centre-front. She's acting here - and I'm sure you'll be able to watch the whole thing in due course.

You either fall for it, or you don't. If you don't like grifters, you won't like this stuff.

She’s 42 but trying to pretend she’s 17 and hanging out with her pals. It’s a bit peculiar.

AliceOlive · 19/04/2024 13:04

I really try not to be a bitch about anything going to charity, but the message on that shirt has been bothering me since I saw it.

Whoever said they never think about foster kids/parents. Well, that’s nice for you, I guess.

Foster kids don’t need someone “like a mother”. They need an actual mother, and a good one. Many either never had one, or never had one worthy of the term. I hope a real foster or adoptive parent would never wear that shirt, and especially not around the children they are fostering. Sadly, there is also too much abuse still happening in foster care.

Hope the money helps someone. It would be better put into a fund for the children, for when they age out of foster care than to the foster parents who already receive quite a healthy amount of financial support in various forms in the US for fostering. So much so that some do it for the financial benefits.

AliceOlive · 19/04/2024 13:06

But ya know, sweet pic.

skullbabe · 19/04/2024 13:09

Just an FYI

Alliance of Moms is a community of philanthropists who support pregnant and parenting youth in LA’s foster care system so that they can build a positive future for themselves and their children.

The "Love like a Mom" campaign is to support pregnant teens in the foster system with programmes and initiatives as they progress to being mothers themselves.

AliceOlive · 19/04/2024 13:13

That’s absolutely great then. I still don’t like the shirt.

But if using Meghan’s face in a sweet pic helps raise awareness and funds, getting someone like the posters here to think about if for the first time, that’s good by me.

itwasahotsummersnight · 19/04/2024 13:20

@AliceOlive - I suppose that's it. If they hadn't got MM in the photo then I people wouldn't take any notice of it. Sad but true (and not specifically MM, any celeb).

Also, I'm in my 40s and i sometimes take photos of me and my friends which probably make my teens cringe. I really don't care TBh :)

skullbabe · 19/04/2024 13:22

I think Kelly asking her friend to support her charity is not a bad thing to do. Here is last year’s campaign picture.

Yes, I’m all for using whatever works to raise awareness. I don’t have any issues with people of any age taking pictures.

The juxtaposition of the women in that photo and the cause is a little off to me, but I am no one’s target market so who cares. I’m a cynic when it comes to most charities and nearly all celebrities.

let’s try this:

Brilliant way of garnering attention to a worthy cause.

Th campaign is at nearly £7000 with close to 700 donations. Harry and Meg could generate goodwill toward their brand with a donation, too.

Unfortunately the link is down but I think it was an inspired move and raised so much for the Trussell Trust - very well done to whoever did that!

(Just a reminder to people who donate to food banks - please donate formula and baby/toddler food if you can)
