(or for the MN purists, Catherine) The most high profile and popular member of royal family has not been seen since Christmas. I do think it's quite strange and so many rumours from the foreign press. And before anyone starts jumping down my throat about her having hysterectomy / crohns / ad infimum / I've had both a hysterotomy and half my intestine removed and was back in work within a 8 weeks.

I’ve also had both those ops. For the colorectomy I was out of action for nearly four months (pre op, op, recovery). My hysterectomy was a difficult recovery, I don’t remember how long but I do remember it had complications.

Daffodilsandtuplips · 03/03/2024 07:58

The palace said she was having abdominal surgery, they didn’t state what type of surgery and there are more organs in the abdominal cavity than a womb and ovaries.
The Place also said she wouldn’t be retuning to public life until after Easter. Have I missed Easter, did I sleep through it?

That was your experience of your surgery. Not all surgeries or recovery times are equal for the same condition.
My sister had an appendectomy, a common operation, performed every day yet her surgery took hours, she had cancer of the appendix.

The I was ok posts reminds me of when women say I had a baby and was back at work in the afternoon.

I literally care more about the state of my little toenail (slightly bruised)

Apparently in a coma after her Brazilian butt lift.

or alternatively recovering on schedule as per the royal press office.

pick your preferred choice.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

CarrotOfPeace · 03/03/2024 08:04

There's no point comparing operations and recovery times

Her name isn't Kate Middleton. She is the Princess of Wales. No surname, she has a royal title.
Overcome with nosiness about her private medical issues but you can't even get her name right.

People can call her whatever they want - the press still call her Kate Middleton a lot of the time 🤷🏻‍♀️

People are intrigued by the current situation as it is so out of step with normal royal protocol - even KC3 who is an elderly man suffering from cancer released a statement thanking his well wishers, yet not a peep from KM. This coupled with the other odd things - a middle of the night ambulance seen leaving Sandringham on Dec 28th, William’s strange behaviour in public and the absence of any direct statement from KM etc. has left people wondering what is going on. As is their right - we don’t have a choice but to pay for the royal family, their
cooperation with engaging with the public is part of the invisible contract, which itself relies heavily on the good will of the public, as one journalist wrote about MM ‘we pay you pose’. A sentiment that should apply to
all members of the royal family..

Crunchymum · 03/03/2024 08:13

Would you have taken more than 8 weeks for your recuperation if it was an option @Tuesdayalready ?

That's the question I'd ask the "I was back to work a month after my major surgery" brigade.

The fact is most people have to go back to work or at least feel very obligated to get back as soon as they can. I wonder what percentage of people who have had major surgery wish they'd had longer to recover and fully recuperate? 🤔

MustBeGinOclock · 03/03/2024 08:16

So many nasty comments. Folk are sooo brave behind a screen. Jog on if you don't like the question!

I absolutely hate that attitude.
I don’t think we should have a monarchy at all, the concept is outdated and undemocratic. But given that we do, they have a right to be treated like human beings and that includes a right to privacy.

Airyfairy99 · 02/03/2024 22:32

I had major MAJOR abdo surgery and was told i was to be out of action and rest for 12 weeks but was back doing food shop and looking after 4 kids 14 days post surgery as i had no other option. She is very lucky having all this time to recuperate. Oh how it is to be royal.

And?
Do you think that because you had to, she should too?

Ughh. What a sycophantic answer.

Augustus40 · 03/03/2024 08:21

Does anybody even care! She adds nothing to my life and is the height of spoilt and privileged.

xSideshowAuntSallyx · 03/03/2024 08:29

I'm no royalist in fact I'm a republican but leave the woman alone, it's none of our business. There are many surgeries she could have had. Just because you went back to work/looking after children/shopping within hours doesn't mean everyone does.

My mum had major abdominal surgery to remove a large annuerysm, required a transfusion and was off work for a good couple of months. She couldn't drive until she was fully healed as she also couldn't wear a seatbelt.

Wishimaywishimight · 03/03/2024 08:32

Maybe she's feeling a bit low and teary after a serious health issue, the first thoughts/fears of mortality start to creep up on you in your 40s.

Despite the privileged life, we all still have these fears at heart.

So perhaps she is just wallowing a little while she recovers, hiding away at home in the comfort of her family.

JFDIYOLO · 03/03/2024 08:34

The Princess of Wales is following medical advice and taking a break til Easter, exactly as the Palace said she would.

If she stepped out looking anything less than perfect the press would also go nuts.

Time out, time off, time with the family.

What a ridiculous question, of course there are people who care, are you suggesting that she has no one bothered about her recovery?

Fran2023 · 03/03/2024 08:45

Her human exoskin has failed. Give her a break, she obviously can’t appear in public as a 5ft 10 lizard!

Romeiswheretheheartis · 03/03/2024 08:46

TeenLifeMum · 02/03/2024 23:07

We were told she’d be back after Easter and despite the supermarket being filled with Easter eggs, we haven’t actually had Easter yet. Why everyone expected to see her in February/early March is bizarre. If a colleague was signed off for three months, would you be texting after 6 weeks asking why they weren’t at work?

Easters going to be a nightmare isn't it. If she doesn't appear literally after midnight after Easter Sunday people are going to implode.

Sexisthairdressers · 03/03/2024 08:48

Tuesdayalready · 02/03/2024 22:42

Okay, so just me then. I stand corrected on both her name, title and whereabouts.

I'm a republican. Think the monarchy is well overdue for abolition. They do f* all, and we pay for it. It's laughable people talking about time "off work" - when are they ever AT work??! Get rid and give 'em a council house/universal credit now!

That said, on a personal level, I don't wish Kate Middleton any harm, and I'm curious to know what would cause someone to be out of action for so long. So you're not alone in being curious! And ignore people being rude about your comment.

Yup. God love her whenever she does reappear. If she thought she knew scrutiny before...

CuttingMeOpenthenHealingMeFine · 03/03/2024 08:53

This whole thing is becoming like a situation where you get a controlling line manager trying to force someone into work when they have been signed off sick isn’t it. They don’t believe that you are as sick as you say you are because their wife’s friends cousin had a similar thing and they were up and about much quicker.

Also love how everyone thinks that just because they ‘had’ to be up and about quickly then that should be the standard for everyone when in fact plenty of time to recover should be the standard, yes I appreciate it’s not, but it should be and if someone is able to have that (and lots of people will with supportive employers and family help) then we shouldn’t berate them for it, it’s not a race to the bottom.

WildFlowerBees · 03/03/2024 08:53

'I have serious second hand embarrassment from the fact that you typed paragraphs of utter nonsense about a woman you really don't know anything about, and posited it as "common sense".

😆👏🏻
