Okay , I'm just going to say it... where is Kate Middleton?

(or for the MN purists, Catherine) The most high profile and popular member of royal family has not been seen since Christmas. I do think it's quite strange and so many rumours from the foreign press. And before anyone starts jumping down my throat about her having hysterectomy / crohns / ad infimum / I've had both a hysterotomy and half my intestine removed and was back in work within a 8 weeks.

Wtf Who actually cares?

Topseyt123 · 03/03/2024 03:55

This bollocks again!!

What is it about resting and recuperating after surgery that you don't understand?

FlibbertyGibbertyFlibberty · 03/03/2024 04:07

This is ridiculous.

She said she'd be away and she's still within the timeframe she gave. She's said thank you in a press release. What more can you possibly want? Her dental records? Her pap smear results?

Just calm down.

Ffs have you missed the other numerous monotonous similar threads

What part of the statement issued by the Palace about her surgery & recuperation are you failing to understand. Maybe we can break it down for you to words of one syllable

Crikey! Someone needs some sleep! 🤣🤣

Crikey! Someone needs some sleep! 🤣🤣

I had actually missed all the other threads so apols for that. And as it’s obviously only me that finds it quite strange that, arguably ,one the most famous woman in the world has not been seen or heard of since Christmas I’ll sign off now and consider myself both corrected and suitably chastised by MN.

if anyone is truly offended then feel free to ask for this to be deleted.

I had a hysterectomy. It was a very very big one. I took 5 months to really start feeling some good level of strength return.

letstrythatagain · 03/03/2024 04:21

@Tuesdayalready ah don't worry about it OP. People just like to jump on threads like this, get all worked up about it and are ready to put you in your place. You have to laugh at how worked up some posters got with you! 😂

Alwaysdieting · 03/03/2024 06:03

I hope she comes back and has put on a bit of weight as she looks super thin in her pre- op pictures. She would look lovely as a size 12-14 instead of a size 0.

ColleenDonaghy · 03/03/2024 06:18

I agree with @belleager , they're taking the short term pain for long term pain and drawing a very reasonable boundary about their private lives. They have decades of this shit ahead of them.

I don't know that there's anything actually new here, I don't think Kate's ever discussed her HG to any real extent, don't think we know if she breastfed, there's a scar on her head from "surgery as a child" but nothing else has been said on that either. I'm sure there are other examples.

The whole "just release a photo of her reading cards" thing confuses me. Have you seen the level of scrutiny in this woman's appearance? She can't just snap something on her phone.

She would have to sit still long enough for a blow dry, which would probably be uncomfortable. Her extensions probably need attention, again uncomfortable. Abdominal surgery means weight loss more often than not and she didn't have any to lose so she probably is looking a bit gaunt and generally not at her best aesthetically and make up wouldn't hide that.

The clothes choice would be analysed, the usual who's she wearing but also do the clothes hint at the surgery. The background of the photo would be analysed as we don't tend to see inside their homes, but at least she wouldn't have to do the tidying.

She prefers to take the children's photos herself and so control the images released (I think this was a stroke of genius tbh) so they probably wouldn't be in the photo but then the internet crazies would quickly turn to WHERE ARE THE CHILDREN?! THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE CHILDREN!!!!!

She's right to say as little as possible. I'm sure she'll show up for church on Easter Sunday looking more or less the same and then hopefully the speculation will calm down.

Zanatdy · 03/03/2024 06:27

I really don’t understand why everyone is being so dramatic about it when the palace said she’s out of action until after Easter. I had a major surgery (half pancreas removed), was in 2wks and out of action for 4 months. Why can’t people just let her get on with her recovery instead of starting silly rumours etc. She’s recovering from surgery, exactly as told. In April she will most likely be back to public engagements. Where are people expecting to see her before then? In the local supermarket? On school run? Maybe she’s not driving right now. For me I didn’t drive for 8wks but if I had drivers etc I would have waited much longer. Just leave her be

Justfinking · 03/03/2024 06:34

People really need to get a life! She's probably just using this as a good excise to have a break (not that she does much anyway), but fair enough we all would relish to sit around and binge eat and watch telly (although she probably won't do much of the eating part).

Teateaandmoretea · 03/03/2024 06:55

If it is Chrohns/ colitis (I don’t think its hysterectomy) then she was very very thin to start with - they were dressing her in coats with big shoulders and floaty outfits to disguise this of late. When my uncle had this surgery he was also thin - one way to try and stop it is to reduce food intake (although this obviously doesnt work), He was in intensive care after for 6 weeks, obviously she hasn’t had this.

But her low weight would make her weaker and elongate the recovery. This is probably the case for any major surgery. People keep saying she’s ‘healthy’ but she didn’t look it very recently, for whatever reason. Possibly because she was unwell and needed major surgery.

DisforDarkChocolate · 03/03/2024 06:59

She does so few engagements she hardly high-profile.

She's popular on with a limited group of people, she's irrelevant to most people.

Most importantly, it's none of my business, or yours.

Sadza · 03/03/2024 07:04

I can assure you that no one on mumsnet knows anymore than the info previously released by the palace. Maybe your post should be let’s speculate about Kate Middleton but I’m not sure most people want to play as it’s already been done to death.

Starspangledrodeopony · 03/03/2024 07:14

Why should she dash back to work just because you did? I’d take the year off.

Zodfa · 03/03/2024 07:22

Don't get people who are obsessed with the royal family but seemingly unable to refer to them correctly.

reclaimmyboobs · 03/03/2024 07:25

MyLovelyPurse · 02/03/2024 23:24

I totally understand the announcement said she would be off until Easter, and it’s not Easter yet. I didn’t expect to see her out and about until, Easter.

The thing is, though why not release a still photo from her sofa with some cards and flowers in the background together with a brief message thanking everyone for their good wishes. Or not even a photo, just a two sentence statement saying ‘ thanks for your well wishes, I really appreciate them. I am looking forward to being out and about after Easter’ Absolute minimum effort and doesn’t give away any personal, medical information. Perhaps most importantly. a very brief thank you statement would stop the feverish speculation.

It’s hard to understand why they have opted for total silence.

Jesus Christ. Look, I hate the royal family as much as the next sensible person and I don’t believe what they do is “work”, but a photoshoot is still effort and she’s meant to be recuperating. It was awful enough they put her through hair and makeup and stuck her in high heels after the births of her children, surely she’s allowed to recover from surgery in private without being treated like a dress-up dolly to provide a photo for weird Mumsnet randoms who can’t understand the original palace statement that said she wouldn't be back til after Easter.

saraclara · 03/03/2024 07:26

Kate could easily get some admin staff to get messages out. But she's on leave. She's drawn a boundary.

William could easily have put out an unverifiable statement about mild illness, children's issue. But he said personal issue. Boundary.

Yep. We're supposed to love boundaries on Mumsnet. If they've set theirs and are sticking to them, good for them.

Rosscameasdoody · 03/03/2024 07:27

So you lost half your intestines and were back at work within 8 weeks - yeah, right !! If that’s true then bully for you. But we’re not all the same are we, and given that, like the rest of us, you don’t know anything other than what the palace chooses to make public, you’re not in a position to judge. And it’s not Kate Middleton - it’s the Princess of Wales !!

Fuckitydoodah · 03/03/2024 07:29

saraclara · 03/03/2024 00:29

If I was royal and I got the opportunity to be out of the public eye and have a bit of privacy for once, I'd milk it for all it was worth. I don't blame her for one second.

This.

Can you imagine being constantly in the public eye and being scrutinised and commented on. I'd take as long as possible if I was her.

cleaningandbathing · 03/03/2024 07:31

LocalHobo · 02/03/2024 23:22

If a colleague was signed off sick until Easter would you continuously ask where they were and why they hadn’t come in?
If I were contributing to her salary I would hope for some information on her well-being.

Thing is, if they do announce what’s wrong with her, it won’t stop. That is evident by some of the crap on the multiple threads on here. Say she’s had a hysterectomy, it will kick off and there will be those that say no way, it doesn’t take that long. It will be never ending.

It's none of your business. Just because you were back to work in 8 weeks doesn't mean she's had the same procedure as you or the same recovery. They've told us not to expect to see her until after Easter. Is it Easter? No. So get over it

MummyJ36 · 03/03/2024 07:33

It will be interesting to see if she does emerge at Easter. If she doesn’t then I think there will be some major questions.

Attictroll · 03/03/2024 07:35

They said Easter is it Easter. I wrongly or rightly assumed hysterectomy and having had family, neighbours etc have one that is about as long as it takes especially if part of your role is about looking sporty by getting involved occasionally. I'm not a fan but people have ops and better to recover properly.

Basically get a life!

YogaLite · 03/03/2024 07:38

I reckon she is getting her wardrobe ready for Easter holiday with the family somewhere in the Carribbean to help her recovery...
