I do think it's quite strange and so many rumours from the foreign press. And before anyone starts jumping down my throat about her having hysterectomy / crohns / ad infimum / I've had both a hysterotomy and half my intestine removed and was back in work within a 8 weeks.

Okay, so just me then. I stand corrected on both her name, title and whereabouts.

She is actually one of The Lizard People, and has returned to her own kind to share her learnings of the human species.

Let’s be honest, because she can afford to be whereas most of us have to actually get on with it. Presuming there is nothing life threatening wrong with her then she’ll be back smiling and waving when they say she will. People only think it’s serious because most normal people simply cannot afford the time she is taking.

Thanks OP for bringing some common sense into this. There's no surgery in the entire world that's serious enough to prevent you from writing/approving a single line of text thanking people for well wishes or a brief update about doing well, 8 entire weeks after the procedure. Nobody's expecting Kate to work an 8 hour standing shift or drag herself back into the office to write reports and make spreadsheets. It would literally involve the same amount of effort as looking at your phone and write two lines of Whatsapp messages. Or someone coming into the room to show you a brief update and you nodding your approval. People don't seem to understand that the energy expended for the "work" in question is so minimal, and that is why it's becoming so bizarre that there hasn't been any update at all.

There were some posters in the previous thread trying to convince people that their abdominal surgery took 4 full months of recovery and they could not fathom doing a single thing in the time period, hence why we cannot expect anything from Kate. Slightly mind boggling tbh...do humans really sit motionless in a dark room for 12-16 entire weeks following a surgery? Or do they have occasional good days where they can get up, potter around and maybe check a few messages on their phone? Do we honestly believe that Kate is so incapacitated that she hasn't looked at a single screen or interacted with any of her children during this time? Just taking care of children requires far more energy and "work" than approving a few lines of text from the PR rep.

Most plausible theory from the last thread seems like marital drama behind the scenes. Maybe she's had enough and having a serious health scare put a lot things into perspective. Kate is by far the most popular member of the RF and if she decides to leave then they're all royally (ha) fucked. Possibly a lot of frenzy right now convincing her to stay so they can whisk her out after Easter looking as perfect as ever. Other posters have speculated that she has already moved out, her parents are with her, hence the total lack of updates from her family but Pippa and James still appearing upbeat and normal on social media.

I’ve had several abdominal surgeries with 6 week recoveries at home. When I returned to work I looked like death warmed over. I wouldn’t have wanted to be photographed like that. Thankfully I had a job where I could sit quietly at my desk and be barely mobile.

We were told she’d be back after Easter and despite the supermarket being filled with Easter eggs, we haven’t actually had Easter yet. Why everyone expected to see her in February/early March is bizarre. If a colleague was signed off for three months, would you be texting after 6 weeks asking why they weren’t at work?

Nope. Most plausible theory from the other thread remains that she is resting as announced.

The fact that she hasn't made a statement of thanks to the public may be perceived as rude by some (personally I couldn't give a fuck and I wouldn't have noticed she hasn't made such a statement if it wasn't for MN) but it doesn't indicate that she is either incapacitated or too busy sorting out the custody arrangements.

I don't get all this outrage about "why hasn't she thanked well wishers. It would only take two minutes"? I mean who cares? Are people really sitting around waiting for a message of thanks from someone they don't even know.
I expect that once she's back on duty she'll release a statement then. There's no rush, is there? What difference does it make?
And people saying her lack of thanks means something sinister is being hidden, why? It would be so easy for the royal family to release a bland statement of thanks if some big cover up was going on.
I think she's just switching off from all the public facing stuff until she's fully recovered.

A woman that works for me just had major gynae surgery. Her doctor, that being a trained professional as opposed to a MN keyboard jockey, has signed her off and because, in the real world people want people to be well, she will have a phased return.

As a predominantly women site, surely this is a place you'd expect to find a modicum of empathy.

This woman stood three times in front of the worlds press hours after giving birth. A point where many MNers are still deliberating whether to let close relatives into their house.

Oh, and she's the Princess of Wales. She hasn't been Kate Middleton for over a decade except for the Daily Mail.
