The royal family

Okay , I'm just going to say it... where is Kate Middleton?

(or for the MN purists, Catherine) The most high profile and popular member of royal family has not been seen since Christmas. I do think it's quite strange and so many rumours from the foreign press. And before anyone starts jumping down my throat about her having hysterectomy / crohns / ad infimum / I've had both a hysterotomy and half my intestine removed and was back in work within a 8 weeks.

We had Ofsted in this week and I'm absolutely certain we'd have got Outstanding if the staff knew that Catherine had sent us a PM. Bitch.

How original, there's literally been a thread every day about this subject 😏

Thanks OP for bringing some common sense into this. There's no surgery in the entire world that's serious enough to prevent you from writing/approving a single line of text thanking people for well wishes or a brief update about doing well, 8 entire weeks after the procedure. Nobody's expecting Kate to work an 8 hour standing shift or drag herself back into the office to write reports and make spreadsheets. It would literally involve the same amount of effort as looking at your phone and write two lines of Whatsapp messages. Or someone coming into the room to show you a brief update and you nodding your approval. People don't seem to understand that the energy expended for the "work" in question is so minimal, and that is why it's becoming so bizarre that there hasn't been any update at all.

There were some posters in the previous thread trying to convince people that their abdominal surgery took 4 full months of recovery and they could not fathom doing a single thing in the time period, hence why we cannot expect anything from Kate. Slightly mind boggling tbh...do humans really sit motionless in a dark room for 12-16 entire weeks following a surgery? Or do they have occasional good days where they can get up, potter around and maybe check a few messages on their phone? Do we honestly believe that Kate is so incapacitated that she hasn't looked at a single screen or interacted with any of her children during this time? Just taking care of children requires far more energy and "work" than approving a few lines of text from the PR rep.

Most plausible theory from the last thread seems like marital drama behind the scenes. Maybe she's had enough and having a serious health scare put a lot things into perspective. Kate is by far the most popular member of the RF and if she decides to leave then they're all royally (ha) fucked. Possibly a lot of frenzy right now convincing her to stay so they can whisk her out after Easter looking as perfect as ever. Other posters have speculated that she has already moved out, her parents are with her, hence the total lack of updates from her family but Pippa and James still appearing upbeat and normal on social media.

I have serious second hand embarrassment from the fact that you typed paragraphs of utter nonsense about a woman you really don't know anything about, and posited it as "common sense".

If a colleague was signed off sick until Easter would you continuously ask where they were and why they hadn’t come in?
If I were contributing to her salary I would hope for some information on her well-being.

GetWhatYouWant · 02/03/2024 23:22

If she isn't seen after Easter as the palace has stated and no announcements are made at that time, then it would be reasonable to ask where she was. Until then it's none of the public's business.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 02/03/2024 23:22

Recovering from Abdominal Surgery until at least Easter as was announced.
I don't get why there rumours flying about

Well done you 👏 👍 😀

Did your job involve being scrutinised by the world by any chance?

MyLovelyPurse · 02/03/2024 23:24

I totally understand the announcement said she would be off until Easter, and it’s not Easter yet. I didn’t expect to see her out and about until, Easter.

The thing is, though why not release a still photo from her sofa with some cards and flowers in the background together with a brief message thanking everyone for their good wishes. Or not even a photo, just a two sentence statement saying ‘ thanks for your well wishes, I really appreciate them. I am looking forward to being out and about after Easter’ Absolute minimum effort and doesn’t give away any personal, medical information. Perhaps most importantly. a very brief thank you statement would stop the feverish speculation.

It’s hard to understand why they have opted for total silence.

Because she doesn't want to. It baffles me why anyone thinks it's more complicated than that.

Do you want medical information and updates on every government employee? Or NHS employees? We pay tax and NI after all?

Kinneddar · 02/03/2024 23:26

Ffs have you missed the other numerous monotonous similar threads

What part of the statement issued by the Palace about her surgery & recuperation are you failing to understand. Maybe we can break it down for you to words of one syllable

Airyfairy99 · 02/03/2024 22:34

Oh abd of the 14days 7 of those werw spent in intensive care. I had no choice but to just "get on with things" once i was discharged. Yes i hurt but im very independant and had zero support from husband.

Well, well done you but she is in the Royal Family and therefore her life is a bit different to the rest of ours.

I'm afraid to break it to you but she also lives in a much bigger house than you and doesn't worry about paying for school trips or holidays.

stomachamelon · 02/03/2024 23:28

@FrannieSaid I see your second hand embarrassment and raise you a third hand.

The agony of reading that dirge.

underthebun · 02/03/2024 23:29

I've had both a hysterotomy and half my intestine removed and was back in work within a 8 weeks.

Are you Royal?

underthebun · 02/03/2024 23:30

She also has to reappear looking like nothing happened which is obviously incredibly reductive but that’s her job.

MyLovelyPurse · 02/03/2024 23:31

But the RF has always very much about sacrifice and duty rather than them doing what they feel like. At the very least they absolutely have to consider public opinion, they remain their position only as long as the public support them. It’s really bad PR to receive lots of attention and concern and not respond.

DillDanding · 02/03/2024 23:32

Although this is the single most interesting thing that has happened regarding Kate since she married, the endless speculation online is really daft now.

Elphame · 02/03/2024 23:32

Kate has to return looking 100% well, her normal highly groomed self and that nothing has happened since her last appearance. That will take time otherwise the press coverage will be remorseless

repopupieres · 02/03/2024 23:33

Airyfairy99 · 02/03/2024 22:32

I had major MAJOR abdo surgery and was told i was to be out of action and rest for 12 weeks but was back doing food shop and looking after 4 kids 14 days post surgery as i had no other option. She is very lucky having all this time to recuperate. Oh how it is to be royal.

And if she had resumed work a few weeks ago and collapsed on the job, in front of people who had travelled to see her, that would be wrong too I imagine.

I can't imagine a role I'd like less than that of royalty - it must be horribly stressful and quite mundane- they are welcome to their privilege.

Tuesdayalready · 02/03/2024 22:42

Okay, so just me then. I stand corrected on both her name, title and whereabouts.

Just you what? There are hundreds and hundreds of other posts about this on here and all the other places people discuss, stuff, why would it only be you?

78Summer · 02/03/2024 23:34

Let’s revisit if she has not appeared at Easter as per the palace statement.

Justyouwaitandseeagain · 02/03/2024 23:34

ermmm but she did issue a message of thanks for the well wishes after surgery (in conjunction with William via the press team as you would expect)

Okay , I'm just going to say it... where is Kate Middleton?
Abitboring · 02/03/2024 23:34

Is it possible the press aren't papping royals when they are ill?
