The royal family

Okay , I'm just going to say it... where is Kate Middleton?

(or for the MN purists, Catherine) The most high profile and popular member of royal family has not been seen since Christmas. I do think it's quite strange and so many rumours from the foreign press. And before anyone starts jumping down my throat about her having hysterectomy / crohns / ad infimum / I've had both a hysterotomy and half my intestine removed and was back in work within a 8 weeks.

I was talking about responses to PR strategy, as you know.

I didn’t know hence the question….

People who want to end the monarchy have a vested interest in that, that’s their endgame, no? If it wasn’t, they’d be pretty shit republicans

I think most republicans aren’t particularly bothered or pay any attention tbh as opposed to tweeting silly rumours.

And it would be in their remit to respond negatively to RF PR. I’m sure republicans wouldn’t be applauding the RF on how well they’re handling PR. Do you think they would be?

I think republicans can recognise good PR. The Queen had quite a lot of respect even amongst Republicans I think.

But will we have to agree to disagree.

Like I said, I thought it was pretty clear I was referring to PR strategy.

I really don’t see see how you’ve got ‘people are wrong for wanting to abolish the monarchy’ from that.

And I don’t think we’re disagreeing as much as you seem to, actually, but yes, let’s leave it there. 😊

Okay , I'm just going to say it... where is Kate Middleton?

I don’t use twitter @wordler. I don’t see the point in getting upset about some users who think William put K in a coma, or believe the earth is flat or that Trump is amazing etc It’s nonsense & not worth my attention.

But the rumours created by those people have started filtering into more mainstream platforms. It's not really something we can afford to ignore anymore as just fringe lunatics.

The poster here on MN was just claiming there was loads of different evidence of a divorce looming for Kate and William - it's all from manufactured and made up rumours on Twitter designed to damage the view of the Prince of Wales.

And I mean seriously organised and targeted campaigns using hundreds, sometimes thousands of duplicate tweets across so many new accounts that they can only be bots - it's being organised and paid for by someone.

underthebun · 04/03/2024 21:38

Wow @PaperSky you are hard work! 😆😆

They haven’t posted the pic but they’ve said when it was taken and exactly where people can see it

I suspect it may not be published in the UK, if taken in breach of her rights to privacy.

Well it's being published on British websites.

After all, it's here on MN - this very thread

(remember that posting here isn't just a cosy chat with your mates/enemies - it's global publishing on a British site subject to English law)

Esse1234 · 04/03/2024 21:39

Well its good to know that she's on the mend. If we're throwing conspiracy theories out there then I think they looked annoyed because they realised it was fail on the world book day costumes, to late for an Amazon Prime delivery so they had to pop to Tesco to see what was in stock, hence the pissed off look because last minute world book day costumes are a nightmare and you'd think someone would have reminded her.

"William - I'm still recovering - you were supposed to organise the costumes"

"Sorry babe I have do the medal ceremony stuff for Pa today - can't get out of it, get your Mum to drive you, it will do you good to get a change of scenery"

Who posted the stupid one about the in-law & W putting K in a coma, I don’t think that should be given any light tbh.

I think it’s better to ignore tbh.

The poster here on MN was just claiming there was loads of different evidence of a divorce looming for Kate and William - it's all from manufactured and made up rumours on Twitter designed to damage the view of the Prince of Wales

But maybe they do think a divorce is possible, who knows? And they could have come to their own conclusion without made up rumours. And what’s the point of arguing with them as you won’t change their mind?

And I mean seriously organised and targeted campaigns using hundreds, sometimes thousands of duplicate tweets across so many new accounts that they can only be bots - it's being organised and paid for by someone.

who do you think is doing this then?

BirthdayRainbow · 04/03/2024 21:48

Or maybe she wanted to do the school run...

Well for the Trump and USA politics propaganda, we know from the 2016 and 2020 elections that bot farms based in Russia were responsible for anti Hilary and anti Biden campaigns. And the 'stolen election' hysteria after the 2024 election.

We can only assume that many of those campaigns came from Putin in an attempt to destabilise the US to his advantage.

But the way those bot farms are run, and others in other parts of the world is that they are open to hire - so people can use them to boost their own profiles, attack their competitors, opponents etc. Political parties, commercial enterprises, online influencers, anyone with a grudge and enough money.

underthebun · 04/03/2024 21:50

I don’t think most Republicans would be bothered with paying out for bots tbh.

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 04/03/2024 21:51

I think the whole manufactured Kate saga just goes to demonstrate how deeply mentally ill some people who live life online are. There is something seriously wrong with people and the stupid Kate vs Meghan bollocks is just an excuse for people to pour out all their bile and social unacceptable claptrap behind the anonymity of a screen.

Lampzade · 04/03/2024 21:51

Well she is probably not in a coma because
Uncle Gary is in Celebrity Big Brother.
I thought it was just a rumour , but there he is
capitalising on his royal connections.

BIWI · 04/03/2024 21:53

@Feelingalittleused

to the poster who seems to think discussing this theory means I wish her ill somehow / that says more about you than me

What does it say about me? It says that I despise the salacious speculation about what might have happened/is happening to the PoW. From internet rumours and dodgy photographs.

Tricoteuses. The lot of you.

Leave her alone to recover from the abdominal surgery we've been told that she's had, and is recovering well from.

Has he actually gone in then?
Lol, probably not the wisest thing he’s ever done

MawkishRomantic · 04/03/2024 21:54

SoupDragon · 02/03/2024 22:28

Why are people surprised she's out of action during the period of time the Palace said she was going to be out of action for?

This

Im pretty shocked by this! Does he need the money?

underthebun · 04/03/2024 21:50

I agree I don't think it's the official UK Republic organization because they don't have the money for that type of thing - they seem to just about be able to stretch to a few yellow 'Not My King' posters.

Also I think Republic wants an actual debate on the specific issues that affect the British public with a constitutional monarchy rather than a smear campaign about the individuals.

underthebun · 04/03/2024 21:58

So who do you think then @wordler Russia? China?

underthebun · 04/03/2024 22:00

Surely Gary has got the ok? Would he really go against the family? Unless he’s going in as a PR stooge?

underthebun · 04/03/2024 22:02

Although I suppose he won’t ever be as bad as the other uncle! 😆

wordler · 04/03/2024 22:04

underthebun · 04/03/2024 21:58

So who do you think then @wordler Russia? China?

I don't know - I've seen some speculation that some of the wider focussed #abolishthemonarchy campaigns could be funded by anti British interests, but I find it hard to believe that the very personally sounding smears against William are in the same league.

However, even with those it's more than just individuals tweeting separately - there are targeted and very organised campaigns where you see exactly the same copy published by hundreds of different accounts many almost brand new, with co-ordinated hashtags.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 04/03/2024 22:05

underthebun · 04/03/2024 21:58

I thought this at the time of Brexit tbh. Wanting to destabilise U.K./ weaken the EU. Maybe a conspiracy theory too far but nothing would surprise me.

It’s a long time before there’s likely to be a royal wedding for one of the wales children (not any other events he’ll be invited to) so he’s got many years to make apologies if they’re pissed off

I guess after Mike tindall got the go ahead for I’m A Celeb it’ll be harder to do try and prevent others doing anything.

wordler · 04/03/2024 22:08

I'm in the US so can't see CBB - please share all the juicy stuff Uncle Gary says! Maybe it needs its own thread.

EDITED to say I see there is already a thread - will catch up there!
