The royal family

Okay , I'm just going to say it... where is Kate Middleton?

(or for the MN purists, Catherine) The most high profile and popular member of royal family has not been seen since Christmas. I do think it's quite strange and so many rumours from the foreign press. And before anyone starts jumping down my throat about her having hysterectomy / crohns / ad infimum / I've had both a hysterotomy and half my intestine removed and was back in work within a 8 weeks.

Whatever you think the PR hasn’t been great.

It was never going to be though.

Too many people invested in making it a negative story, as abolishing the monarchy is their endgame.

I’d actually love to hear someone give me what the perfect PR strategy would have been though, which didn’t involve her revealing reason for op or smiling for pics if she didn’t want to.

I wouldn’t trade my life for hers for anything

CarrotOfPeace · 04/03/2024 20:49

Oh come on she hasn't had a Brazilian butt lift

No one thinks she's had a BBL. It's a light-hearted joke to defuse the nonsense that's become a shorthand for "let's leave the woman alone".

BIWI · 04/03/2024 20:57

Oh, I'm sorry @underthebun - am I not allowed to post here?

(Although I do wonder why I'm on a thread in the Royal Family topic, given my complete lack of interest in them Grin)

But yes. I will post to criticise the ridiculous speculation that's going on here, because this is another human being that so many ill-wishers are slavering over. And it's not fair or deserved.

the theory I read on one of the blinds last month that makes the most sense to me is that she’s pregnant with a very high risk pregnancy and needed something doing to help her keep the baby, and plenty of bed rest/hiding pregnancy until they know it’s secure. Her face looks a little fuller in that pic so maybe there’s something to it

Do you really think the American gossip columnists who write those 'blinds' have any clue about the British royal family?

The press release specified that she had had 'abdominal surgery', which isn't really compatible with a pregnancy. I doubt they'd flat out lie about something which could so easily be proven false.

As for the 'fuller face' all I'll say is that this proves how wrong the folks were who insisted that 'just one photograph will end all the speculation'. Quite the opposite

Serenster · 04/03/2024 20:57

But there has been hysteria or have you missed it? 😆

And I said that is not a sane response - did you miss that in my post?

ColleenDonaghy · 04/03/2024 20:58

queenofarles · 04/03/2024 20:56

Why oh why did they not issue a statement in her name saying she’s grateful for all thoughts and concern instead of this debacle ?
this makes it worse , people are saying Carole is driving around Windsor with a stranger wearing a wig , and that’s the kindest thing I’ve read yet, 😵‍💫

They did. It's posted on this thread at least twice.

It wasn't enough apparently, photographic proof of life is required. But now that's not enough either.

Salemforcuddles · 04/03/2024 20:58

@underthebun It should have been enough but for some it just wasn't salacious enough or perhaps they just thought people would respect her privacy

Stickinthemuddle · 04/03/2024 20:58

It is clearly staged, she’s got absolutely no reason to leave the generous estate. The kids have previously coped with their parents on foreign tours and could I’m sure handle Granny doing the school run. It’s just been quite badly done!

underthebun · 04/03/2024 20:59

Its really sad, just because you pay a bit of tax, doesn’t entitle you to a pound of her flesh

But that’s the relationship the Royals have with the public. If people didn’t feel entitled then we would have Euro style royals

User442681bgt · 04/03/2024 20:59

It's not posted in the Daily Mail so it can't be true.

underthebun · 04/03/2024 21:01

Im not making a judgement whether it’s sane or not just pointed out that it’s happened.

It should have been enough but for some it just wasn't salacious enough or perhaps they just thought people would respect her privacy

Again no judgement re whether it was enough or not but just acknowledging that it wasn’t hence my comment re PR fail.

Salemforcuddles · 04/03/2024 21:02

The daily mail are holding out for the BBL story or the buried under the patio one

Stickinthemuddle · 04/03/2024 21:03

DM et al have clearly been promised something juicy at Easter. Pics of the fam at home or some nonsense, on the condition they don’t publish anything themselves.

Feelingalittleused · 04/03/2024 21:04

BIWI · 04/03/2024 20:52

FFS. Leave the poor woman alone.

What?! I think this is quite a clear and reasonable theory and not at all meant to be offensive. I don’t get your response at all

underthebun · 04/03/2024 21:05

@BIWI of course you can post whatever you like. I was just making the point that these threads thrive with the “she’s divorcing”, “no she isn’t” etc which all adds to the speculation & why they felt the need for the photo op.

PaperSky · 04/03/2024 21:05

Well, nothing you or I do is going to stop anyone wailing.

Its just funny to me to see the hysteria rising daily.

As soon as you think you’ve seen the most crazed theories, another one just pops up.

Its quite fascinating really

Interesting. And I suppose highlights why she'd not want to have the details mentioned.

If there was any pregnancy related illness they would have been transparent about it - even with George when producing the next the heir was a huge media story they released the info about the pregnancy much earlier than they would have done because of the illness she suffered.

But with George etc it was hyperemesis. The suggestion with this is that it was more critical.

to the poster who seems to think discussing this theory means I wish her ill somehow / that says more about you than me.

underthebun · 04/03/2024 21:09

Too many people invested in making it a negative story, as abolishing the monarchy is their endgame

Is it bad if people want to abolish the monarchy though?

I’d actually love to hear someone give me what the perfect PR strategy would have been though, which didn’t involve her revealing reason for op or smiling for pics if she didn’t want to.

The only one that would have likely sufficed is her disclosing the reason for the OP or being photographed looking “bad”. But that’s on brand so. Maybe a few more engagements in the months prior (I have no idea how many there were) or releasing some shots of her wfh whilst recovering.

Serenster · 04/03/2024 21:09

I suspect it may not be published in the UK, if taken in breach of her rights to privacy.

underthebun · 04/03/2024 21:09

not on brand!
