The royal family

Okay , I'm just going to say it... where is Kate Middleton?

(or for the MN purists, Catherine) The most high profile and popular member of royal family has not been seen since Christmas. I do think it's quite strange and so many rumours from the foreign press. And before anyone starts jumping down my throat about her having hysterectomy / crohns / ad infimum / I've had both a hysterotomy and half my intestine removed and was back in work within a 8 weeks.

It is clearly staged, she’s got absolutely no reason to leave the generous estate. The kids have previously coped with their parents on foreign tours and could I’m sure handle Granny doing the school run. It’s just been quite badly done!

Two people doing the school run is also odd. The whole point of having Granny do the school run is so you can sleep in and enjoy a coffee in peace! It really looks like her PR team set up the shot to have Carole's face clearly identifiable so you know it's definitely them, but Kate's reasonably hidden to maintain her privacy. I don't think she looks any different to before. If both wore big sunglasses then it wouldn't be recognisable enough.

xSideshowAuntSallyx · 04/03/2024 21:11

Honestly she's doing the school run and has been papped, I'd look pissed off too. Carole is probably driving as she can't given her operation.

I've also seem Kate Middleton driving through Windsor before and she wasn't grinning from ear to ear then either.

DM et al have clearly been promised something juicy at Easter. Pics of the fam at home or some nonsense, on the condition they don’t publish anything themselves.

I think fear of an injunction and costs is all the stick the Waleses need, actually…

underthebun · 04/03/2024 21:11

@PaperSky

Its quite fascinating really

I agree! I find the die hard fans & the lizard conspiracists equally fascinating.

Not really, maybe she wanted to do the school run, maybe she was getting cabin fever. At a guess she can't drive yet so Carole has too.

They haven’t posted the pic but they’ve said when it was taken and exactly where people can see it

They haven't linked it. Obviously staying away from that for some reason but can't resist mentioning it.

Too many people invested in making it a negative story, as abolishing the monarchy is their endgame

Is it bad if people want to abolish the monarchy though?

I’d actually love to hear someone give me what the perfect PR strategy would have been though, which didn’t involve her revealing reason for op or smiling for pics if she didn’t want to.

The only one that would have likely sufficed is her disclosing the reason for the OP or being photographed looking “bad”. But that’s on brand so. Maybe a few more engagements in the months prior (I have no idea how many there were) or releasing some shots of her wfh whilst recovering.

Is it bad if people want to abolish the monarchy though?

Where did anyone mention it being ‘bad’?

I was just talking about people that have a vested interest in ending the RF, therefore any ‘PR strategy’ would have failed.
People can turn anything into a negative, as I’m sure we all well know.

Tbf, the way people have been going on, even if they did release immediately what the issue was, I’d bet my savings you’d still have a contingent of people saying it was lies, and that the real reason was xyz…

I'm on nothing at all. My take on the photo is that both women look grim. I happen to think Kate and William are separating and this photo does nothing to suggest otherwise. How that's deranged God only knows.

Why does everyone leap to "divorce" when the more obvious thing is that CBB starts tonight?

underthebun · 04/03/2024 21:21

Where did anyone mention it being ‘bad’?

I perhaps incorrectly assumed the use of the words negative & endgame implied people who want to abolish the monarchy are wrong

CarrotOfPeace · 04/03/2024 21:22

ColleenDonaghy · 04/03/2024 20:56

No one thinks she's had a BBL. It's a light-hearted joke to defuse the nonsense that's become a shorthand for "let's leave the woman alone".

Oh right OK sorry my bad. I often read things too literally

User7825525 · 04/03/2024 21:23

The DM tells people that you can see the pics at TMZ. So I went to TMZ and howling at the fact that their headline article is about Willy Wonka's The Unknown. Kate's reappearance is only third down the page.

This is what I’ve been thinking. They must be absolutely raging that Uncle Gary is going to be spilling the tea on the diary room chair.

I’d be mortified.

I found that annoying rather than funny

what do you mean by vested interest? Plenty of people want to abolish the monarchy but I don’t think they have a vested interest.

Tbf, the way people have been going on, even if they did release immediately what the issue was, I’d bet my savings you’d still have a contingent of people saying it was lies, and that the real reason was xyz…

Of course you would, that’s human nature. I think it’s unrealistic to expect something else.

It's not bad at all if British people want to abolish the monarchy and vote for a different head-of-state model. That's a debate I'd be really interested in taking part in.

What I find appalling is anonymous internet trolls - usually clearly not from the UK or any of the nations who have Charles as a head of state, pushing the vilest targeted campaigns designed to destroy or damage an individual or a marriage.

Does a twitter rumour campaign claiming that William beat Catherine into a coma for sleeping with his second cousin's husband before shooting the husband and colluding with the police to cover it up sound like a reasonable way to discuss the issue of monarchy vs republic?

underthebun · 04/03/2024 21:25

Kensington Palace did not comment tonight but sources stressed these were paparazzi pictures that were not authorised by the palace.

But here is where you can find the photos. Classic Daily Mail 😆

ToffeeTalk · 04/03/2024 19:47

You can tell the general vibe isn't upbeat.

Divorce seems the most plausible of the options.

Carole genuinely seems like a decent mum.

She's probably pissed off at being photographed. If they were divorcing, and I'm sure they aren't, she'd hardly convey it to a paparazzo.

Mummame222 · 04/03/2024 21:26

I was talking about responses to PR strategy, as you know.

People who want to end the monarchy have a vested interest in that, that’s their endgame, no? If it wasn’t, they’d be pretty shit republicans
And it would be in their remit to respond negatively to RF PR. I’m sure republicans wouldn’t be applauding the RF on how well they’re handling PR. Do you think they would be?

Not sure where right or wrong comes into it.

underthebun · 04/03/2024 21:27

I don’t use twitter @wordler. I don’t see the point in getting upset about some users who think William put K in a coma, or believe the earth is flat or that Trump is amazing etc It’s nonsense & not worth my attention.

underthebun · 04/03/2024 21:31

I was talking about responses to PR strategy, as you know.

I didn’t know hence the question….

People who want to end the monarchy have a vested interest in that, that’s their endgame, no? If it wasn’t, they’d be pretty shit republicans

I think most republicans aren’t particularly bothered or pay any attention tbh as opposed to tweeting silly rumours.

And it would be in their remit to respond negatively to RF PR. I’m sure republicans wouldn’t be applauding the RF on how well they’re handling PR. Do you think they would be?

I think republicans can recognise good PR. The Queen had quite a lot of respect even amongst Republicans I think.

But will we have to agree to disagree.

Sure, plenty of people don’t.
But you’re telling me there’s not a contingent of people who do? Some does not mean all.

But there are some who do have a vested interest, especially on SM.

Some people are just bemused, while others are chomping at the bit.

And exactly, it’s unrealistic to expect anything else, I agree.

Thats what I meant when talking about no perfect PR strategy etc.

tinytemper66 · 04/03/2024 21:32

I don't really give a shit about the RF but even I think the speculation is ridiculous. She had abdominal surgery and we were told she wouldn't be 'working' again until Easter, which is 3/4weeks away. We don't need to know anymore details than that.

Salemforcuddles · 04/03/2024 21:32

@underthebun There are places that think Trump is amazing??? 🫣😱😱

underthebun · 04/03/2024 21:34

I just think they could have done better
