The royal family

Okay , I'm just going to say it... where is Kate Middleton?

(or for the MN purists, Catherine) The most high profile and popular member of royal family has not been seen since Christmas. I do think it's quite strange and so many rumours from the foreign press. And before anyone starts jumping down my throat about her having hysterectomy / crohns / ad infimum / I've had both a hysterotomy and half my intestine removed and was back in work within a 8 weeks.

Oh gosh guys, American here for those that don’t know me. I didn’t know Easter comes at a different time for you in England. Is it the same for Scotland and Wales? I know about Orthodox Easter but not “English Easter”

I learn something new every day!

ColleenDonaghy · 03/03/2024 11:58

Ok then, humour me. Why is it?

What did they say before? Something about silence and complacency making you complicit?

Actually, I think they are probably enjoying it.

@AliceOlive

Easter Sunday is 31st March in both US and US.

And yes, am I meant to know who you are?

ItsallIeverwanted · 03/03/2024 12:03

Not the point of the thread, but I just googled Orthodox Easter and it's on 5th May, so in an entirely different month than UK/Western Easter on 31st March, never known them be at so different times! One year they were on the same date. I do something on both so should have known!

Orthodox Easter is later usually, probably always, by one week or maybe more. 'English Easter' will be Western European Christian Easter, same as Protestants and Roman Catholics in countries like France, Italy etc.

Why? They are semi public property, they have their privacy and are maintaining it. The peasants can gossip all day at the guillotine if they want.

Not they aren't. No one owns a person.

Oh I post here on RFF all the time. It has been mentioned to me before…

The, "I had to gnaw my own broken leg off and be back at work down the coalmine the same afternoon" brigade are getting pretty tiresome. Why can't they just accept that everyone has different circumstances?

Shades of Python - it made me smile.

Why don't the anti online bullying campaigners, the Sussexes, and man who specifically keeps claiming to love his family (despite evidence to the contrary), Prince Harry, issue a statement asking their supporters to stop this unprecedented haranguing of a sick/recovering woman and her family?

Do you think a statement from Harry would be a) welcome, or b) damp down speculation?

He is doing exactly the right thing staying out of this. Hopefully he’s sent a message or flowers privately.

PrinceYakimov · 03/03/2024 12:11

FGS there's no reason to think anything is amiss. They said she'd leave hospital within a fortnight, which she did. They said she'd continue recovery at home, which is where she is. Hopefully she will be feeling much better by Easter.

Nothing to see here folks!

derxa · 03/03/2024 12:11

I demand to know every detail about Catherine’s medical progress. After all I pay £2.50 for the privilege

Obviously it must be Easter already somewhere since so many people are looking for Catherine who was due to be off until Easter. Right?

It doesn't need to do either of a or b. What is would do is to demonstrate that he does not simply give lip service to online bullying - together with his efforts to restrict free speech - when it affects him only, or someone he can use to further his own agenda.

I would bet that a lot of the more unpleasant rumours are being fed by the Sussex squad.

Everythinggreen · 03/03/2024 12:13

Because ridiculous topics like this pop up on trending and its pretty pathetic. If you want to day in day out scour the news, watch conspiracy theory videos about it then that's on you. Why are people excessively posting threads about the RF. It's more strange to be stressing over RF surgery recovery, letting it take up your thoughts about "what does it all mean" and reading into every little thing, than it is saying, why do you care so much?

Oh, Harry and Meghan were keen to let the press know that they had been in touch. Various outlets reported:

A source said: “The King and the Princess of Wales have received support from Prince Harry and Meghan regarding their health. The Duke and Duchess contacted both parties in different ways to pass on their concern and best wishes.”

Alice, other people have given better answers than I by now.
In England if you are Roman Catholic or Church of England or Methodist or Baptist or several other denominations etc etc Easter will be early this year, Easter Day being on March 31st. In England there are some Russian Orthodox and Greek Orthodox churches - a few - and presumably they will celebrate Easter a few weeks later.
I think you will have the same mixture of denominations of Christianity in the USA.

Perhaps she is thinking fuck it and having some time off and watching day time TV, maybe she is meeting aliens who are about to invade or perhaps she is recovering from surgery and getting ready for the intense media scrutiny on her return.

Hell, yes.

The media attention is going to be a nightmare! I don't envy her having to dive back into that feeding frenzy.
