Social media leaking news of POW hysterectomy

It goes without saying its only her business, however I found it odd that whilst 'doomscrolling' from sleeplessness I came across a couple of posts from US news sites claiming they had news obtained from 'Palace sources' posted onto SM.

We all know that KP is somewhat leaky but over something like this? (I suppose Maybe if the price was right?)
Or is it just speculation passed off as the truth?
Or, are US news sources avowed to publish info that uk ones aren't?

I'm not particularly interested in what she's had done, surgery is unpleasant, full stop, But I'm just wondering if there's a reason the story is in US but not uk news-if it even real ( which seems slightly unlikely I would think, but then you never know about anyone personal life).
Just found out odd and curious as to the whys

The US news outlets make up what they don't know. They come up on Tiktok quite often. In the past few months they've reported Kate was pregnant & the King was going to abdicate.

Oh & Kate was also pregnant in 2022 & they were able to tell the Queen before she died 🙄

Quitelikeit · 20/01/2024 05:57

I think reporting on health infringes privacy laws

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 20/01/2024 05:59

Foreign media seems to have a pass, I read a french magazine once (Closer) that printed it as fact that Kate and Harry were having an affair, very odd.

CupOfCoffeeandaPineappleChunk · 20/01/2024 06:04

Ah, so much of the US press is national enquirer ( i think that's what the mad conspiracies and aliens one is called) style fantasy then?

Well you learn something new every day!

@CupOfCoffeeandaPineappleChunk the fine publication that keeps track of Bat Boy and Elvis sightings would never falsely report a hysterectomy!

Newchapterbeckons · 20/01/2024 06:12

Maybe endometriosis. I am not sure why that couldn’t have been scheduled in, diaries cleared In advance etc. it felt very last minute.

Overtheatlantic · 20/01/2024 06:17

Speaking of speculation passed off as truth there’s a fine British tabloid that reports Daily on the royals and truth is often an inconvenience.

Mummyoflittledragon · 20/01/2024 06:20

This has been discussed extensively on another thread. I had one of the most invasive hysterectomies and was only in for 4 nights post surgery. So I think it’s unlikely to be a hysterectomy unless it was advanced endo implicating the bowels… and I don’t see how it would have got to that stage with someone, who has access to top notch healthcare.

Grandmasswag · 20/01/2024 06:31

Who knows? It does seem the most likely but because people in the U.K. simply can’t believe that a rich pampered princess would take 2 weeks hotel hospital stay and 2 months ‘off’ people are speculating all kinds of wild and serious diseases/diagnoses. I can imagine they might want to leak it to stop people think she’s going to drop down at any moment.

It might help if BP stopped the ridiculous speculation and announced what is going on. It’s only fuelling attention.

Exactly this. Here in the UK under an NHS that's falling over we just can't compute the fact that anyone would spend so long in hospital unless they were on their last legs. Which she obviously isn't.

CupOfCoffeeandaPineappleChunk · 20/01/2024 07:26

@CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment . No it wasn't in the national enquirer(?), I meant I didn't realise they were mainly like that there. Im clueless about anything in the US! Goodness, hardly surprising so many ordinary Americans are so world unaware in that case.

Just seems weird that they don't shut down all the speculation by saying what it is. I realise she shouldn't have to, but it would all die down in a few days if they did.

Winterday1991 · 20/01/2024 07:52

I think she could be receiving treatment for a mental health breakdown, but they just don't want to admit that.

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 20/01/2024 07:53

I have read vile accusations coming out of the USA on twitter. Absolutely vile ones. So I wouldn't believe anything they have to say.

Poor woman having the world speculating over her private medical health.

Newchapterbeckons · 20/01/2024 07:58

I just don’t understand why Buckingham palace are allowing this to run and run. They could put an end to this circus immediately, the fact they haven’t either means it’s much more serious than we imagine or it’s a breakdown or similar.

A plain hysterectomy is hardly going to be breaking news.

Like what? Do you mean in print from news outlets or just people on SM?

Grandmasswag · 20/01/2024 08:01

I think to them it’s isn’t a circus. The British press aren’t really running the story any more other than a few opinion pieces from medics with very generic themes such as ‘why abdominal surgery can be risky’. No shit. The speculation is just little people on SM. I don’t think the palace care about that. They have bigger fish to fry.

CupOfCoffeeandaPineappleChunk · 20/01/2024 08:02

I agree @OhhhhhhhhBiscuits . Poor woman is most likely feeling rather ropey and knows there are a barage of press outside looking to take a photo of her either having to look amazing or looking like she's at at deaths door, so scrambling to know what possibly could be wrong with her. As much as being a royal makes you done kind of national property, it doesn't take away the fact you're a person like everyone else.

My interest was in the strange foreign news sources not why she's there.

From both. One was horrific that she was the victim of DV. Just outrageous lies.

Tlolljs · 20/01/2024 08:04

When I had my hysterectomy I was out in four days, but I was walking like I’d shit myself. Straight into car bum first ex lifted my legs in after. Presumably she doesn’t want to be photographed like that, so she’s staying in longer.
Assuming she’s had a hysterectomy of course.

Exactly this. It's the parasocial relationship that people have to very high profile public figures. By not saying what it is or by saying "something's very wrong" but not giving any details, it leaves a constant niggling in people who feel like they know this person via the media, the same way you will want to know about a close relative or friend's medical condition if they were admitted to hospital. Again, this isn't about Kate specifically but all types of public figures.

If they just said Charles was going for an operation but didn't want to elaborate on details then the speculations would be wild. Imagine back in the days when Boris had covid and they refused tell the public about the diagnosis but just that the PM was in ICU. It would not have been hard to guess what it was but people would still be speculating.

In this case there are only very few operations not related to cancer that could potentially be the case, none of which are shameful or which would cause outrage if made public. I strongly believe that the only reason they're keeping it so secret is for the children, which is fair. It's to prevent them from hearing rubbish at school from other people Googling the diagnosis.

StillCreatingAName · 20/01/2024 08:07

OP, if you had any sympathy whatsoever, you wouldn’t start these kinds of threads, especially under RF topic. You’re obviously just keen for the goss about a woman’s personal health and you’ve been having a nosey around international media to see what else you could find out.

Please don’t try and disguise it as an interest in overseas reporting methods 🙄
