Social media leaking news of POW hysterectomy

It goes without saying its only her business, however I found it odd that whilst 'doomscrolling' from sleeplessness I came across a couple of posts from US news sites claiming they had news obtained from 'Palace sources' posted onto SM.

We all know that KP is somewhat leaky but over something like this? (I suppose Maybe if the price was right?)
Or is it just speculation passed off as the truth?
Or, are US news sources avowed to publish info that uk ones aren't?

I'm not particularly interested in what she's had done, surgery is unpleasant, full stop, But I'm just wondering if there's a reason the story is in US but not uk news-if it even real ( which seems slightly unlikely I would think, but then you never know about anyone personal life).
Just found out odd and curious as to the whys

Cynical me thinks USA…. Harry and Meghan? Maybe they’re running out of funds and have found out some info from their moles in the RF, and are selling the stories to the media out there? They do have form after all……

Stop scraping the barrel, there must be something more interesting to do.

You know this, how?

Newchapterbeckons · 20/01/2024 10:26

i honestly don’t know how Kate tolerates it all - the pressure to be perfect all of the time, the frenzied nature of global attention, the safety issues, it’s too much.

Newchapterbeckons · 20/01/2024 10:28

Maireas · 20/01/2024 10:25

You know this, how?

Well that would certainly explain the silence - the concern around surgery and her weight loss. How do you know this?

It is Crohns not crones I might add.

WitsEnd10 · 20/01/2024 10:29

I have wondered, from my own personal experience with Crohn’s, if she’s had bowel surgery and has had to have a stoma as an emergency during planned surgery. It would explain the delayed statement, as the complication wasn’t expected, the long hospital stay, as they have to ensure it’s working, that she can get to grips with having a bag etc, the prolonged recovery time after. She has also always been slim, but she’s also been noticeably thinner recently and she’s looked tired and drawn. All things people would chalk up to stress, but can also be explained by bowel issues.

Address the other poster. I'd be interested to see their evidence.

Who knows? It does seem the most likely but because people in the U.K. simply can’t believe that a rich pampered princess would take 2 weeks hotel hospital stay and 2 months ‘off’ people are speculating all kinds of wild and serious diseases/diagnoses. I can imagine they might want to leak it to stop people think she’s going to drop down at any moment.

Why would she choose to be in hospital for 2 weeks when she doesn't have to lift a finger at home if she doesn't want to?

I am pretty sure she would rather be in her own home with her husband and children.

I was in a private hospital for my hysterectomy and was only in 1 night and that was a total abdominal one

WitsEnd10 · 20/01/2024 10:31

It would also explain the silence as it’s something that’s seen as ‘private’ and/or ‘embarrassing’. There’s a stigma attached to bowel issues because of the nature of them. It’s understandable that she might not want the world to know she has a bag.

What evidence? This is another vile theory I have seen floating around. I am waiting for the plasters on her fingers blah blah blah.

Look at her family, all very slim and toned women. Her being slim doesn't mean bulimia.

There are so many posters on MN who seem unable to grasp that a woman can be slim and fit without having an eating disorder. Which is in itself perfect evidence for disordered eating.

Yes, she has lost weight lately though noticeably and given her size it was always going to generate worry.

The POW would not be being treated at the London Clinic then. Have reported your post as spurious speculation.

witnessprotection73 · 20/01/2024 10:34

That a very spiteful thing to say. How do you know they’re running out of money? Just because the family are not close anymore it doesn’t mean they would behave like that!

Spirallingdownwards · 20/01/2024 10:35

Newchapterbeckons · 20/01/2024 06:12

Maybe endometriosis. I am not sure why that couldn’t have been scheduled in, diaries cleared In advance etc. it felt very last minute.

The beauty of private healthcare is that as soon as an issue is discovered and a remedy found you can access it instantly and don't have to wait.

Redmat · 20/01/2024 10:38

Most of the speculation comes from concern. If we knew what she was in for it would hopefully make people feel less worried. The thought of history repeating itself although through illness not accident its too hard to even contemplate and I think this lies at the bottom of many peoples wish to know.

Seriously? They’ve been proven to ‘behave like that’ over and over again. So many really awful things they’ve done - and not given any consideration to the timing of their stories.

IcedPurple · 20/01/2024 10:42

Newchapterbeckons · 20/01/2024 09:29

i am pretty sure whatever is wrong with Kate, someone else in the world will be suffering the same condition. It’s not only prostate that people can learn more about - almost every condition can benefit in the same way.

So should all famous people release details of their health conditions? Because it might 'help' someone somewhere?

Maybe Charles was happy for details of his condition to be made public and Kate wasn't. That's her right. There is likely no more to it than that.

LadyKenya · 20/01/2024 10:42

Yawn. Some people need to get over their unhealthy obsession with Harry, and Meghan.

Belinda5 · 20/01/2024 10:51

CoconutSty · 20/01/2024 07:12

Exactly this. Here in the UK under an NHS that's falling over we just can't compute the fact that anyone would spend so long in hospital unless they were on their last legs. Which she obviously isn't.

I totally agree. I live in Ireland and have private health insurance. I had a hysterectomy a few years ago. It was a total abdominal hysterectomy but there were no complications, I was in from Sunday until the following Monday. I was encouraged to get up and walk up and down the corridor and go downstairs to the cafe with visitors and had anti clotting injections every evening. But I was kept in until my consultant felt I was up to going home.
But I see this happening a lot on MN. Some posters are convinced that if they haven't experienced something, it just couldn't possibly happen.

Spendonsend · 20/01/2024 10:52

No idea what she has but hysterectomies with endometriosis can involve bowel and bladders too. My friend ended up with a complicated recovery and a catheter for 6 weeks after her hysterectomy. She was only in for a few days but had community care popping to see her at home.
So they arent all straightforward and out in 2 minutes

Butterandtoast · 20/01/2024 10:58

I dont really understand why anyone is that interested

Voulez23 · 20/01/2024 11:01

The fact that on the very same day as Kate's op was announced, Charles also announced his imminent prostate treatment, saying he wanted to be upfront about it in the hope that it would inspire others to get checked, has only fuelled speculation about Kate's operation / condition. It makes her look less open by refusing to reveal what she has had done.

The two theories I have read are either a hysterectomy or a bowel operation - both conditions would similarly benefit from openness in the hope of removing taboos and barriers to seeking help.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 20/01/2024 11:01

I had abdominal surgery on the NHS last year. I was told to expect to be in hosp for 10 to 14 days afterwards.

I also had another surgery to complete the process several weeks later. I was off work for 4 months.

Its entirely possible that the nature of what she's had done requires a recovery that long, and not just because she's a public figure paying for private healthcare.

GeckoEcho · 20/01/2024 11:03

POW stands for prisoner of war, FFS.

CrispsandCheeseSandwich · 20/01/2024 11:03

Yes but Kate isn't required to have her health used as a lesson for everybody else.
If Charles wants to raise awareness, then fine. But no one else is obliged to reveal their medical information for public awareness.

From concern? Really? That's not the vibe this thread is giving. It's largely a horrible, sneering speculation about something that's none of anyone else's business.
