Social media leaking news of POW hysterectomy

It goes without saying its only her business, however I found it odd that whilst 'doomscrolling' from sleeplessness I came across a couple of posts from US news sites claiming they had news obtained from 'Palace sources' posted onto SM.

We all know that KP is somewhat leaky but over something like this? (I suppose Maybe if the price was right?)
Or is it just speculation passed off as the truth?
Or, are US news sources avowed to publish info that uk ones aren't?

I'm not particularly interested in what she's had done, surgery is unpleasant, full stop, But I'm just wondering if there's a reason the story is in US but not uk news-if it even real ( which seems slightly unlikely I would think, but then you never know about anyone personal life).
Just found out odd and curious as to the whys

I think Diana's arrival into the family in the 1980s was the real beginning of the Royals being seen as a soap opera to entertain the great unwashed. It had all the elements - marriage break ups, secret recordings, a beautiful young wife badly wronged by her heartless husband and his wicked mistress etc etc It led to a situation where Diana's death saw people feel absolutely entitled to be 'included' in the immediate aftermath, to the extent where they effectively forced the Queen to return to London and march Diana's shocked and grieving sons out to look at the flowers in public view. Awful!

We saw a bit of that again in the past week. People highly indignant that they weren't getting their daily episode of 'Kate in Hospital' and were instead expected to mind their own business and respect her privacy.

And as for the comparisons between Camilla public announcing her hysterectomy and Kate not doing so (if it was a hysterectomy) - Camilla was 60 when she had hers so long past child bearing age, Kate is 42 so it might be a much bigger emotional issue for to come to terms with. She possibly preferred to do so without sad headlines about 'No more royal babies' etc etc. Can people not understand that?

Edited

Do we know for sure that it was a hysterectomy? I am not interested anymore by the way. I just hope it was nothing horrible (which is where my mind always goes). I am far from being a royalist, but I don't like the idea of any woman undergoing something nasty.

We don’t know anything for sure except Kensington palace are desperate we don’t find out what has happened to her.

Are they? Or is a woman deciding she doesn't want the world to know about her personal medical issues.

It's nothing controversial or problematic, so I don't think there's a coverup. It's just personal 🤷

@Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar public sector workers actually work for their salaries. I'm sure they wouldn't mind swapping places to do the "work" of the RF.

I'm not. I remember the late Queen having to sit down and have dinner with Trump, you couldn't pay me enough. Poor woman would probably have preferred to be home with her slippers on but that was her job and she did it. I wouldn't have swapped places.

LolaSmiles · 31/01/2024 15:57

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar
Good point. So much of the shifting goalposts to justify why average people need to know details of a stranger's medical needs and healthcare fall down quite quickly when the implications of the arguments are considered.

I'd have far more respect if people just said they want more regular updates because they weren't happy with the first announcement and are nosy and/or weirdly invested in the details of rich strangers and/or have such poor emotional boundaries that their daily life is genuinely being consumed with worry over someone they don't know.

Until then I'll stick with the boring view that the royal family are human and like any other human they're entitled to have medical treatment without gossips demanding to know details.

Trump was nowhere near the worst official visitor she had to entertain

I don't think he spoke much English did he? It's the thought of listening to Trump spouting on and thinking, "I wonder what's happening on the Archers." that made me feel sorry for her but I agree she's had to sit down with many mad/bad people.

hopeishere · 31/01/2024 18:06

While it was planned / not an emergency it might be something that she needs time to come to terms with as a human being.

If it's bowel / bum / poo related even more so.

She may choose to talk about it at some point. She may not and people will have to live with that. I don't care that the RF are publicly funded she's still entitled to some privacy.

I agree.
However so many people have said here how much they'd hate to be in the royal family's position.
Surely that's not because they're jealous?

TheFancyPoet · 17/03/2024 20:12

It is a bit strange that the palaces know that the people rage for info, but keep quiet. What is hard just to say a line of something

She doesn't need to give the details at all. Whatever surgery she has actually had I'm not sure why it would be too personal to share. It's surgery presumably from an illness, not cosmetic? You can have all those surgeries without mentioning complications or reasons why she needed it.

Or did she not have surgery and she's worried about digging herself deep further into the lies?

I see no reason why they couldn't have just said
"The princess had an emergency total hysterectomy with salpingo-oophorectomy She is recovering well and has opted to take extended leave from her duties hopefully returning in June 2024."

It would have been far easier, then she could have the time off she needs without so much speculation.

It's taking longer than normal to recover which leads people to think she is gravely unwell or not unwell but hiding other issues . . .

When I had my hysterectomy I was out in four days, but I was walking like I’d shit myself. Straight into car bum first ex lifted my legs in after. Presumably she doesn’t want to be photographed like that, so she’s staying in longer.
Assuming she’s had a hysterectomy of course.

But she could appear in a car drive and waving to people on the way to somewhere. No need to walk.

MrsFinkelstein · 18/03/2024 16:26

But it's not taking longer to recover.

KP said she would be in hospital for 10-14 days (which she was) and would resume duties at Easter time.

Easter is still nearly 2 weeks away - so there has been no deviation from the original time schedule.

Yes, they could have made a statement setting out exactly what happened. However, they don't have to. If she doesn't want the world to know the details of her condition, that is her choice. And the evidence of other events is that such a statement would not have stopped the speculation. Remember when Boris Johnson was hospitalised with Covid? The government were completely open with what was going on, but there were still plenty of people convinced we were being lied to.

eise · 18/03/2024 16:31

@prh47bridge Then they should ignore everything. Stay in hiding until she wants to come out rather than embarrass herself with all these doctored images to pretend they were just taken when in actual fact no photo was taken last week.
What would it change if they said and did nothing?
