I thought this must be a joke. I mean, I'm sure he's perfectly good in a helicopter - just like all other Apache crew, but I didn't think he'd done anything unusual or noteworthy.

But of course you can't stop third parties giving you an award, and he doesn't have to endorse it by picking it up in person

Well he comes from a family that award themselves titles for doing absolutely nothing. At least he did actually do some flying.

I don't understand how he is not embarrassed but of course he has a high opinion of himself. I wonder if these charities are just happy to get a known name in to get the press coverage and know that he can be bought.

It's embarrassing that he needs to buy an award for a kids' charity fundraiser.

He served as a Search & Rescue pilot in the RAF for 2yrs, then as an Air Ambulance pilot for 2+yrs.

Did Harry get his full licence? He was co-pilot and gunner , but I didn't think he'd qualified to fly solo?

I just can’t understand this award. Now, if he were presenting as a celebrity former pilot, fair enough. But standing up there with Buzz Aldrin? How embarrassing .

Maybe his dad will give him one. He did give him the Prince of Wales title and he's done exactly zero for Wales so like I say, it runs in the family.

He was a search and rescue pilot in wales at least, I'm sure he saved some lives, potentially Welsh ones. We have a relative who is s&r and it's a pretty full on job, including flying people from remote areas when the air ambulance can't cope with conditions.

Never seen any actual footage of him flying. He did the course and then became the gunner. Sarah Ferguson got a pilots licence and was filmed on her first solo flight.
