cant work out what I think about this. They all look lovely, match, but it’s not very festive. Bit drab- colour would have been better.

I want the royal family to entertain us, the last lot had some proper EastEnders moments, this bunch are too Hollyoaks.

chill out

Thought exactly the same 😆

DoYouAgree · 10/12/2023 09:10

I think it's lovely

CatWoman12345 · 10/12/2023 09:11

I don’t approve of the product placement either.

quantumbutterfly · 10/12/2023 09:13

By product placement, do you mean the royal family?

12FreeRangeEggs · 10/12/2023 09:14

Personally I was relieved to scroll to the bottom of the photo and find they were all wearing shoes. It has a bit of a barefoot vibe to it, I’m glad they didn’t go all the way. Not my favorite from them

Hedjwitch · 10/12/2023 09:16

Louis's left hand is weird, but they are certainly a photogenic lot!

Messyhair321 · 10/12/2023 09:17

I'm just amazed that they've managed to keep the wild kid still for the photo

😂😂

I think it's probably a reference to the 1992 one with just William and Harry, kids are the same age and there's a very similar vibe with b+w and the chair. It's saying, we are a happy family, in contrast to what William's life was like when he was 10.

AllTheChristmasMovies · 10/12/2023 09:21

There’s not really much you can say about a staged black and white photo with nothing in the background.

If it’s meant to represent the feeling in the world at the moment and say they’re feeling it, it’s even more contrived than usual. I’m not a royal fan or hater, but they’re a family with children, it’s Christmas, I think they’re allowed to be festive and look happy instead of this serious grey thing. I think it’s odd.

That's an interesting point. As though he's completely erased Harry - he has his own family now.

Hughs · 10/12/2023 09:22

This is the one I mean, no Charles and Diana, who had separated that year.

The background reminds me of a school photo, the ones that do no justice to the subject.

I don't think Harry has anything to do with it, he's never been in their Christmas card photos. I think they are showing that they are a solid family, in contrast to William's childhood.

God, the nastiness of so many posts on this thread

I happen to like it, not that I'd have seen it if I hadn't read this thread.

Why are people so exercised by a photo?

I don't think people are "exercised" - just giving a view on whether they like this year's card.

Some will, some wont.

penjil · 10/12/2023 09:24

Definitely got 1990s Calvin Klein advert vibes about it.

Boring and inoffensive, so quite a good reflection of them.

AllTheChristmasMovies · 10/12/2023 09:25

Or if he’s tried to recreate it, maybe its a positive thing towards Harry.

GrouchyKiwi · 10/12/2023 09:29

I quite like it. They're not Christmas cards really, they're more keepsake photos as a record of the family.

Hughs · 10/12/2023 09:30

I don't think Harry is relevant at all - more William contrasting his children with himself looking a bit sad and lost at the same age. So smiley, happy, tactile parents vs no parents.

The hand around the waist doesn't look right. She would have to have a five foot long arm!

How wide is your ten year old!

They all look lovely but I just don’t like the aesthetics for a Christmas card. It feels a bit sterile.

ThePoshUns · 10/12/2023 09:36

I love that Charlotte is centre stage, but agree too drab and not very festive.

RuthW · 10/12/2023 10:00

Charlotte looks about three years older than George. She's only about 8 and looks about 13.
