Jimmy Saville potential godfather to harry

According to the daily mail, Charles put Jimmy Saville on a long list of names of potential godfathers for Harry.

Jimmy Saville was Catholic. He would never have been given a godfather position on that basis alone.

It was the long list.the article says others made sure he was not on the short list. So it would never have happened. But Charles considered Jimmy Saville as a possibility.

It's no secret Savile was great friends with Charles and a regular visitor at Highgrove. This is mentioned in royal biographies published long before any scandal had been made public. So any shock and horror over this is somewhat belated - it's not very surprising, if it is true.

He fooled a lot of people. He did a lot of charity work. Nobody with a normal mind could’ve conceived the atrocities he was committing at the time. Do you honestly think Charles knew?

Yes, I know some people did, and looked the other way, but I’m asking- do you believe Charles was one of them? If you do, why aren’t you out there campaigning for him to be removed from the throne?

I don't believe that the secret service would not have warned Charles about Saville. But Charles is known to dislike taking advice that does not mesh with his own views.
The daily mail article says that some of his staff were horrified with the suggestion and were going to make sure Saville name was not on the shortlist. It wasn't.

Savile was brought in by Charles to give marriage guidance counselling to Diana - considered bizarre even at the time because Savile was unmarried.
