Part 2 of a nice, unproblematic thread to discuss some of the fab outfits from the Duchess of Sussex, and some of the many great causes she (and Harry) and Archewell supports.

Sorry … back to point of thread … I loved M’s short herringbone tweedy cape thing! 😄

MissElinorDashwood · 02/10/2023 15:41

This is the outfit I was talking about. Love that shirt with the skinny jeans. There’s a video circulating where you can get a better look at the outfit.

wow she has lovely legs

Ineedwinenow · 02/10/2023 17:14

Haha tweedy cape thing made me chuckle!

Yes I did actually like that on her, normally I don’t think wide or baggy suits her body type ( she has a similar body shape to me and I look similar we just look short and dumpy) the red suit she wore for the Harlem school visit and the brown wide leg trouser outfit she wore recently at Invictus really swamped her but she looks incredible in fitted dresses and skinny jeans/trousers or cigarette style trousers! She has fabulous ankles so ankle grazing trousers look fabulous on her!

Thank you!

This thread enticed me 😊

@Ineedwinenow i agree i loved her in the black trousers with the heels, and I want a dupe of the dress she wore to meet the Canadian delegation.

I wore a dupe of the black jacket with the gold buttons to an arts event on the weekend (the one she wore to last year's Invictus at the kid jeep event). Got it from Mango. My sister loved it haha

I enjoyed this article in Vogue. Nice to learn more about this brand - I like it’s ethos (and the handbags 😁)

How This Californian Brand Became Meghan’s Go-To For Sustainable Wardrobe Staples

It’s no surprise, then, that the likes of the Duchess of Sussex have been won over by the label. Meghan was first spotted carrying Cuyana’s mini-chain saddle bag during a royal tour of Australia in 2018, before being pictured with the brand’s classic structured tote at Wimbledon in 2019 (guests at the Duchess’s New York baby shower that year had all been gifted Cuyana totes). More recently, she wore the brand’s classic silk trench and paperbag trousers while attending the Invictus Games in Düsseldorf.

“It’s such a great vote of confidence,” Shah says of Meghan’s support over the years. “She discovered us through her friends, Abigail Spencer and Daniel Martin. I think it also helps that we align with being two women of colour and having started this ourselves – that self-made story”.

“While the brand has long been committed to ensuring its supply chain is socially responsible, it reached a new milestone this year: ensuring that 100 per cent of its materials come with sustainability certifications, from the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) to the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS). “Sustainability is embedded in every step of how we make, produce, design and sell products,”

I really like Meghan in a more fitted clothes, especially with a flash of arm/shoulders as they’re are really fab. I also think she has fabulous legs and ankles.

I really liked her dresses and jeans at Invictus Games

I wasn’t so keen on the baggy trousers and shirt combo mentioned in the vogue article above, they swamped her in my opinion but vogue as spoken so what do I know 😀

MissElinorDashwood · 04/10/2023 14:52

The blueprint.

Love these two outfits from a couple of weeks ago, in Düsseldorf.

Smart and casual. She’s a trendsetter.

Meghan Markle surprised women and children at a community cafe in Düsseldorf before heading back to California.

TrebeCafé, which supports women and girls who are homeless.

I like the first outfit as it shows her lovely ankles/shoulders but I don’t like the second one (colour & waistline)

Again only my opinion.

But Elizabeth Hurley has been wearing the white top / jeans compo for years so I don’t think I could call it trendsetting, but great enthusiasm!

I can’t recall any outfit of Liz Hurley’s apart from that Versace dress 🥵

But that’s not surprising, EH isn’t on my radar.

I say trendsetting because of fashion articles/blogs etc that have been written since Düsseldorf. I think they’ve missed her.

Edited

I don't know whether it's just the photo, but I'm not a fan of those jeans.

They just look too tight and wrinkled at her hips, groin and knees.

Overall I love the "look" but just not the fit of those jeans. Could just be the photo though.

Agree she suits more slim, slightly fitted looks overall, the baggy look really doesn't do her any favours IMO.

Would agree, 1st outfit overall much more flattering. Still not mad keen on the fit of those jeans, but they look better than in the photo from the birthday party.

Didn't like the mix of textures in the 2nd outfit and the waistband was too high and too thick.

Thought the grey washed her out a bit too, she really suits bold, bright colours IMO. It's a pity she's a fan of "caramels/beige" etc at the moment - they just don't do it for me (for many people).

MrsFinkelstein · 04/10/2023 17:04

I'd love to wear white jeans, but I have 2 dogs (black & chocolate labs) and I seem to just attract tomato and grass stains even standing alone in a desert so it's a No from me on that fashion item. 😒

I’m old enough to remember the 90’s WAG uniform first time round.

4 Failsafe Ways To Wear White Jeans In 2023

MrsFinkelstein · 04/10/2023 17:41

So am I @Howsimplywonderful , white jeans were everywhere in the 90s.

I couldn't wear them then either. I could wear the hipster jeans and bellbottoms that were big at the time though. Not so much nowadays.

So much of fashion is repeated. I see Boho chic is back again now, and I'm pretty sure I glimpsed a rack of stonewashed denim recently.

That doesn’t look like the same look to me 🤔

I don’t actually like any of those outfits…but maybe that’s because I have a similar frame to Meghan,.

Oh, I love the boho chic look 👌🏼

Howsimplywonderful · 04/10/2023 18:05

i think those outfits in vogue are a little more fashion forward. Perhaps Meghan’s is more an homage to the Wags in Baden Baden

MissElinorDashwood · 04/10/2023 18:47

If it is, it hasn’t been referred to or identified as that by the dozens of fashion magazines from across the globe (who incidentally are still posting articles about her over two weeks later).

Her look is certainly influential and inspires many from all walks of life. The outfits she wore sold out very quickly and I know the JCrew website crashed for hours after she was spotted wearing one of their cardigans at Invictus.

My guess is that makes her a trendsetter and fashion forward 🤷🏻‍♀️

MissElinorDashwood · 04/10/2023 18:52

Love this dress and the whole look 👌🏼

The site was down for planned maintenance according to the company.

I do like that dress and the other black one she wore
