What does Prince harry mean by this in his speech at the Wellchild Awards?

"As you also probably know, she would have been the first person to insist that I still come to be with you all instead of going to her."

He is referring to the Queen.

Is he saying this is why he is not at Balmoral with the rest of the RF? Is this what he means by "going to her"?

He's explaining why he missed the awards last year.

Mornusting · 07/09/2023 20:44

Oh I see... but am I right in thinking that Harry will not see any of the RF tomorrow? He isn't going to Balmoral?

I've no idea of his plans.

Mornusting · 07/09/2023 20:47

Oh I didn't mean you in particular @Justmuddlingalong . It was just a general question.

no royal family for him to see. charles in balmoral and william in wales!! he just thinks they will all jump because he comes over but he does not want to come over to speak to them!! to be honest, he should just bugger off back to usa and stay there. neither him nor his wife are welcome here. I just hope to god that charles has not allowed him to stay at frogmore like he apparently requested! imagine preparing that 8 bedroomed house for one person for one night! he should go to a hotel and pay for it!! the pair of them are just entitled wee shits and I for one would not piss on them if they were on fire!!!

The RF are very smart. They know Harry has Netflix breathing down his neck and he needs footage of other family members to fulfil his part of the multi-million contract. Entertainment execs always knew the true money spinner would a royal version of the Kardashians with exclusive, candid footage of various RF members at the coronation, Balmoral, public events, private events etc. They are receiving none of that and are almost certainly cancelling the deal next year.

Wow the comment above.
Never ceases to amaze me how pissed off English people are about Harry and Megan.

They haven't killed anyone or hung out with paedophiles for example, just have been a bit annoying and unrelatable (like the rest of their family)

@User353463 @2jacqi

Wow. Just wow.

MissElinorDashwood · 07/09/2023 21:43

Anyway, he’ll be making his way to Germany straight after the awards. The Invictus Games opening ceremony will be on Saturday. All teams are now in Germany.

StopStartStop · 07/09/2023 21:47

He is trying to pretend he is important when he's not.

Yes, I think it must be that - the award ceremony 2022 was on 8 September, Harry of course did not attend

(despite what he's saying now - doesn't matter what ER II might have "insisted", totally understandably he didn't go - so I'm not quite sure what point he's trying to make and for me it doesn't come across quite right)

I don't think this has anything to do with anniversary plans.

He did catch up with last year's winners by Zoom after the funeral

They made a Big hugely profitable interview with Oprah making all sorts of damning claims not to mention a big Netflix series slamming them.
I think any normal family never mind royalty would disown a family member who did that.
They could have walked away quietly with all their millions and lived happily ever after, but their sole intention was to destroy their own family. This is why some people don't like them

skullbabe · 07/09/2023 22:02

He was giving a tribute to his grandmother by saying that she would have wanted him to attend the awards last year instead of trying to get to Balmoral. It’s relevant to the awards he is actually at to explain why he was not there last year. It would be odd if he just glossed over it.

Amara123 · 07/09/2023 22:03

Why would anyone care that they did a big interview about their family?

Families are complicated, theirs more than most. Surely people can understand how the bad feelings come about?

The people in the royal family are just people, flawed like the rest of us. The expectations that they are more than they are are totally unrealistic.

Fine - this is about honouring the award recipients at WellChild and you cannot hold your dislike of Harry for one day to not take the focus off them. That’s more important to you.

Exactly. Makes you ponder on the real reason they hate them....

PrincessOfTigger · 07/09/2023 22:23

It’s a bit of an odd thing to say, maybe he meant it as a compliment

Dabralor · 07/09/2023 22:30

Pffft, hating Harry on the internet is so 2020. And yet still people bang on.

Oh do be quiet. They weren’t paid for the Oprah interview. It’s not hard to find out.

Honestly, it’s been almost four years since they left and the same old misinformation and propaganda is regurgitated like you’re still stuck in 2020. Aren’t you tired already?
Get a life and move on.

Oh, and stop rewriting history while you’re at. Look up archives to see how they were treated even after they left.

Prescottdanni123 · 07/09/2023 22:39

The royal family don't dare risk being in the same room with him at the minute because everything they say will get twisted.

Yikes, I’ve just realised what type of thread this is.

Didn’t he say he killed 25 in Afghanistan?

drivinmecrazy · 08/09/2023 01:09

I'm afraid he's made the WellChild awards about himself again.
Found it quite distasteful seeing him Beijing quoted as referencing his late grandma.
Also how Meghan 'is upset she can't be here '.
Bloody hell, cry me a river!!
