Looking a little uptight and exasperated when the collar is put on Charles and then the cloak? I didn't notice at the time but on sky re run I can see William looking uncomfortable and even impatient??

Me or Kate?

BadNomad · 06/05/2023 23:21

I noticed how much William looks like his uncle Edward when I don't have my glasses on.

They're all a bunch of grumpy fuckers. William had a face on. Kate was constantly pecking at Louis. Charles looked annoyed when the crown was being jammed on his noggin. Camila looked like she was away with the fairies for most of it. I was just watching for Major Johnny tbh.

dishyrishi · 06/05/2023 23:21

Also, there was some very odd organ music, felt like it was meant for a bingo hall circa 1950

When the lovely gospel singers did their bit, Kate was stifling giggles at their "exhuberance"!

Interesting I didn’t see her at all in that segment. Could see Camilla’s daughter and granddaughter though. Laura had her head down and the daughter I typical 15 year old fashion had no facial expression whatsoever.

Fine looking man.

They all looked fine. It was funny seeing them behind Charles when he was being crowned. All straining to get a look.

CabernetSauvignon · 06/05/2023 23:24

He just looked serious and nervous. As you would expect.

AskMeMore · 06/05/2023 23:24

I had thought louis was not going to be present?

She was clearly smiling because she enjoyed it.

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 06/05/2023 23:29

@BashStreetKid that’s what I thought too. It was a lovely performance and KC had included them specifically, why would she be laughing?

CreationNat1on · 06/05/2023 23:29

I thought William looked like he was dressing a child, which he has plenty of experience in. I thought he went into protective Dad mode.

It must have been very stressful for all of them, but I think they enjoyed it too.

He definitely looked bad tempered sort of bored but exasperated.

It's where he's standing in front of Charles whilst they are putting the collar for George's cape on.

Even on the swearing allegiance he doesn't make eye contact!!

I think it was clear that he was reading the words shown for him by the priest next to his dad.

yeH, I know, may have not been difficult to learn but as someone who messed up saying my wedding vows I can understand why he was reading!

DorritLittle · 06/05/2023 23:30

Kate kept smiling at Louis. She had a five year old next to her. Hardly suspect William wasn’t bothered to be there either.

She’s a mother who is in front of possibly billions with a 5 year old…who sat for an hour and twenty minutes. I’d be ready with a hand to put over mouth at all times. Terrifying for them all.

That is incredibley rude! No class whatsoever.

Just had a watch of that segment. Kate looked as if she was really enjoying the performance. She wasn't 'stifling giggles' at all.

Prescottdanni123 · 06/05/2023 23:34

I imagine it's the type of day where you are constantly experiencing high stress levels, just wanting it to be over so you can relax again but when you look back on it a few weeks later you think "Ah, that was a great day,"

changednametorespond · 06/05/2023 23:35

@40thmonarch some people spend lots of time looking for things to moan about King Charles III and Prince William. Why? What's with the constant moaning and criticism?

40thmonarch · 06/05/2023 23:36

@changednametorespond... Ummm nope.
I only noticed it on the replay, sky and it was very noticeable.

I used to perform a lot as a teen and a child. Blinding headaches the whole time. Spots in front of eyes. I don’t think I ever looked back and went it was great. More frustrated at myself for not being able to enjoy it.

40thmonarch · 06/05/2023 23:38

@CreationNat1on

Good point and I imagine poor William has been more of a dad to Charles than vice versa!

Surely the gospel singers were there to be enjoyed? I was surprised how many people sat with absolute po faces when they were given such a joyous performance. She wasn’t smirking, just actually appreciating the wonderful performance.

William was taking his duties seriously. Louis was fabulous as were all the other children.

Anyone care to take a pop at Justin Welsby?

AuroraCake · 06/05/2023 23:40

If that’s true what an utterly shit childhood he’s had. I hope someone had his back.

40thmonarch · 06/05/2023 23:42

@Hungrycaterpillarsmummy yes!!

He seemed very grumpy!

Re card reading I totally get that although it was a very short speech yes ok he needed a prompt but even then.... Not one actual glance until the end and Charles himself sort of looks pleadingly at him... Sorrowful..

And obviously thankful.

I think they were just stressed. The other royals…who are used to this stuff but it being a fairly low key occasion for them seemed to be enjoying things far. Ore. Especially when you got to B and E and Zara and P. Margaret’s kids and grandkids.

40thmonarch · 06/05/2023 23:44

Matilda, I'm not fond of Justin, no.

Maybe will I am feels he's looking serious when others like myself feel he looks like grumpy?

He has a foul temper just like Charles.
