Looking a little uptight and exasperated when the collar is put on Charles and then the cloak? I didn't notice at the time but on sky re run I can see William looking uncomfortable and even impatient??

Probably because millions of people are scrutinising his every move

I had thought louis was not going to be present?

He did disappear at one point.

Maybe to the loo, or if he was over-excited to calm down. He came back.

It was a long time to ask a n energetic young child to behave. I thought all of the children did very well indeed.

elevenplusdilemma · 07/05/2023 08:28

@Emotionalsupportviper It was always the plan that Prince Louis would take part in the processions but not sit through the whole ceremony itself. Understandable given his age.

Quia · 07/05/2023 08:29

Kate was constantly pecking at Louis.

Bollocks. She was keeping an eye on him, and at one point we saw her smiling at him and talking to him.

I think PW and family were late, maybe because of the kids (who knows), this made KC angry/flustered, and put the ceremony out of sorts. No one seemed very sure of what to be doing in the first 20 minutes. I will extend my psychic powers by thinking that they made up when William kissed him on the cheek. Massively stressful day, I know my family wod have had several rows by the time we reached the church.

You are correct. Lip readers have shown what Charles was saying in the gold carriage before he got out.
God he's a whinger. How dare he moan. Entitled man. He says its taking too long, he's rehearsed endlessly and where is William

I agree.

I lost it here at home when the dog stole the quiche I had made, scoffed the lot then threw it up at the backdoor! (I had just so much wanted to have one day in this bloomin' house where everything went well and I wasn't chasing my tail all day - I'd been up at 5.30am cooking it because I prefer quiche fresh. The greedy bugger left the salad, though, and the sausage rolls were saved.)

Fascinating….. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This thread is bonkers! 🙊

Grin

He's had diarrhoea this morning, too - has had me up from yon time (it wasn't a coronation quiche BTW - just an ordinary cheese one).

She was. She did the same when the African-American pastor did his sermon at Harry and Meghan's wedding. She clearly finds black people a source of amusement - she seems hugely unpleasant.

I don't know about that but I did note that during both H&M's wedding & during the coronation that the Pastor & Gospel singers were (the most?) genuinely joyful & exhuberant parts of the occasions. I am from a CofE background so love that tradition but I was captivated by both the pastor & the gospel music. Captivated as I was, it was hard not to notice the po-faced / amused / eye-rolling from some upper class members of the congregation.

I definitely noticed the king almost recoil when William had to kiss him on the cheek.

The royals don't kiss each other or hug. Harry said this in his autobiography. The most they are allowed to do is rub cheeks.

Diana once tried to hug the queen and she moved quickly out of the way.

That really is nonsense. It was an intrinsic part of the ceremony which they would have rehearsed. There was no recoil. They clearly do do tactile between themselves, despite the nonsense Harry writes. I'm always reminded of that clip of Diana hugging Harry and William on returning from some Royal tour - if you see the whole clip, Charles hugs them as well, but it's rarely shown.

WaitingForSunnyDays · 07/05/2023 08:43

As far as Camilla and her crown goes, I thought she was trying hard to move her fringe out of the way, as the way the crown was placed probably meant strands were pushed down her forehead and would have been uncomfortable!

CabernetSauvignon · 07/05/2023 08:44

Penny Mordaunt did say she had been doing press-ups in preparation for carrying the sword.

I was enjoying the reflection of how mortified Rees-Mogg must have been that she was getting the limelight and not him, given that he was President of the Council until last year.

LadyKenya · 07/05/2023 08:46

Yes, I noticed that at the time as well. It goes to show that you can have lots of money, and no class.

LaMarschallin · 07/05/2023 08:48

I think people are just seeing what they want to (probably unconsciously) to support their own bias. It's natural.
It's more problematic when presented as fact, but it's just on a small corner of an internet discussion forum so probably won't do any harm.

What does "pecking at" mean in the supposed case of Kate pecking at Louis?
It conjures a picture for me someone constantly fiddling, moving and/or adjusting something/someone.
I didn't see anything like that, but I was in and out of the kitchen so may have missed whatever it was.

Yeah Kate and Camilla were sharing so many smirks

I thought that both Charles and Camilla looked very stressed and nervous. Where has Camilla been the last few days? She looks a bit thin, ill almost. She was desperate to fix that crown on her head herself too 😂

Camilla didn't look at all well to me either. She looked anxious, bewildered and confused at times. Particularly when she first came out onto the balcony and tried to usher others out. That's not the queen's job love, just look elegant and enjoy the moment, let someone else do the organising.

It's like Fantasy Island on here.

Riverlee · 07/05/2023 08:51

i thought they all looked nervous and emotional. Charles looked tired - probably hasn’t slept for days, and emotional. He was probably thinking about his late mother and father at times. William looked nervous as well.

You've clearly never seen the eleventy billion times the late Queen did exactly that.
And, indeed, her mother.

Soozikinzii · 07/05/2023 08:53

To think that anyone was late is impossible since these things are planned to the second . They rehearse in the night to check everything .William was clearly reading the card hence no eye contact. Also on a serious occasion I would avoid eye contact with a family member in case I laughed . Catherine looked as if she enjoyed the fantastic gospell choir who did relieve the tension a little. I also think they have to be so careful these days because of the lip readers they can't even make a little side remarks which sometimes gets you through these occasions. And it would've been great for Harry's children to see their Grandad be crowned wouldn't it .IMHO.

Seriously hope this is sarcasm because you are clearly reaching. As are the others who are going on an evil Kate rant here. Reminds me of the Meghan haters who criticise her for daring to smile during royal events. 🙄Royal women really are in a damned if they do and damned if they don't situation.

I read that the Wales weren't late, it was that Charles and Camilla arrived early. So they had to wait for the Wales to arrive before entering the abbey, which they did and they were on time.

Unless your a part of the RF yourself, I don't see how you're in a better position than Harry to know what the reality is.

Embarrassing to read some comments here. So much nit-picking and pretending stuff happened that didn't.
