Prince Harry - sounds articulate and quite intelligent

There seems to be an accepted view that Prince Harry is very dim and unintelligent but he seems to be to be really quite articulate and have a wide vocabulary (antagonist, complicit.) I've thought this before when he made a speech at the Invictus games but assumed it was written for him and he was reading it but the answers to the questions in the interview couldn't all possibly have been learnt,

He has a posh accent and a way with words. He is not being intelligent at the moment. If he usually is then this is one extremely long brain fart he is having.

Pastryapronsucks · 08/01/2023 23:06

He obviously hasn't got a good memory, he seems to have completely forgotten the allegations 'they' made in the Oprah interview, or doesn't it count if Megan said it🤔

I am also wondering why when he spoke to his therapist after being 'attacked' by his brother he didn't ask advice for Meghan. Does he think the general.l public are as forgetful as he is?

carben · 08/01/2023 23:07

I'm absolutely sick of the word 'narrative'. Thesaurus please.

mathanxiety · 08/01/2023 23:07

YYY @Crosswithlifeatm

milti · 08/01/2023 23:09

All rehearsed for months

ItWasDobbinAtTheMareAndSpare · 08/01/2023 23:09

I don’t think he’s dim, average I’d say. Somebody in the press likes him:

Good evening Meghan, nice of you to drop by. He is reasonably articulate but he also has tunnel vision and a very unhealthy obsession. Intelligent? No. He appears to have learnt that empathy is something he should feel, and is using terms to Illustrate that he's acquired some, but his actions demonstrate he has little or none for his family.

donquixotedelamancha · 08/01/2023 23:10

He has a posh accent and a way with words.

This. He's had the best possible level of education and a ton of media training so, of course, he's eloquent but that's not the same as intelligent.

His private tutor (when asked if Harry is bright) said it wasn't appropriate to criticise someone he taught as a child.

It would be a completely different interview if conducted by Emily Matilis. Now that would be an interview and a half

I agree. Emily Maitlis' interview with Prince Andrew was excellent. She was polite - no annoying abrasive Laura Kuensberg style- but intelligent and asked the right questions and let Prince Andrew unknowingly dig himself into a bigger and bigger hole.

This. Plus he's certainly drunk the kool-aid on critical race theory, as his repetition ad nauseam of 'unconscious bias' and its role in racism shows.

Exactly this! He has had an expensive education. I would expect him to speak with a posh accent and be relatively eloquent and confident.

bombemma · 08/01/2023 23:12

Coolheadedbird · 08/01/2023 22:49

He should have put some of that intelligence to the naming of his book 📕

Spare is too non descript.

‘Twat’ would be too misogynistic.

‘Prick’ more like it. But wait one more…’Wanker’ it’s got the right ring to it and sums up his whinging persona just right.

Quoting conversations with his brother and wife from 5 yrs ago does indeed make him an utter wanker.

This!!!

newnamethanks · 08/01/2023 23:15

Emily M conducted that interview perfectly. Might be her last royal interview though!

AuroraCake · 08/01/2023 23:16

He comes across as what he is. Expensively educated, pumped full of confidence and arrogant as all he’ll. he comes across like Andrew to be honest. I have a friend, state school, who went to Cambridge and she said she learnt pretty quick that it didn’t want what you did and didn’t do you just stood up there and tried to sound like you know what you were talking about.

I thought he was fine when talking about Diana, and then it just was incoherent. But you know look at his parents. They liked to blame everyone else too. He was actually today defensive and irritated with Bradby…who is surely now back in royal fold.

torquewench · 08/01/2023 23:17

He's as thick as mince but has a posh accent. I thought he has very little to say other than making it crystal clear that he hates the press. The interview seemed very over-rehearsed and didn't go into much detail. Lots of waffle and non-answers. He said Catherine and Megan never got on but wasn't asked to explain further.

All I took from it is that he needs proper therapy/treatment and that it's apparent that he's done a lot of drugs.

Emily M conducted that interview perfectly. Might be her last royal interview though!

She does a podcast now with Sopel…who has long been her down park husband. The two have some seriously appealing chemistry. She no longer interviews really or appears on TV.

SayMyNameProperly · 08/01/2023 23:20

I'm not a fan but thought he came across well enough. He stated his life's work was to bring down the tabloid press. I actually wish he could / would. It's thoroughly corrupt and irresponsible.

CoffeeBoy · 08/01/2023 23:22

It will have been so prepared and rehearsed. Won’t have been done in one take, will have been reshot multiple times until he was happy with it.

GladysPew · 08/01/2023 23:22

He wore me out.

Poor William, he must be very worried for his younger brother.

F4chrissakes · 08/01/2023 23:22

The interview was not exactly incisive was it? And why would it be, it's to promote his book. Harry knew what questions he was going to be asked, and the answers were pre prepared, whether by himself or another or both.
The contents of his book I have seen would not indicate a high level of intelligence, though I concede that what I have read so far are as reported by the press, so are taken out of context. Amongst other indiscretions, a person who needlessly puts a lifelong target on their own and others backs can't be too clever.

EarringsandLipstick · 08/01/2023 23:23

RosesAndHellebores · 08/01/2023 22:45

He's well educated. That doesn't mean he's intelligent and capable of critical thought. It just means he can present himself reasonably well.

This.

He sounds well-spoken & fluid. He has jargon & therapy-speak at the ready.

But he says nothing of substance or meaning. (Tho better than Meghan, at least)

SallyWD · 08/01/2023 23:23

Yes exactly. I keep reading over and over again people saying he's unintelligent and "very unwell". He came across as very intelligent and completely lucid!

BellePeppa · 08/01/2023 23:24

Pearsandclocks · 08/01/2023 22:56

yep and for all that private education he managed a B in art and a D in Geogrophy!

With input from the teachers don’t forget.

SueVineer · 08/01/2023 23:25

Yeah right Meagan

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 08/01/2023 23:25

This is like a Black Mirror episode where we’re being fed alternate realities… what he was saying was for the most part ridiculous and basic? I’m no royalist but this man is really not intelligent. The stupidest thing was “I never intended to hurt my family with the book” point… know of cause and effect, of boundaries?

Eyerollcentral · 08/01/2023 23:27

pigalow27 · 08/01/2023 23:03

On that measure, Boris might be judged a fool but he is definitely highly intelligent. He did Greats at Oxford and was a King's scholar at Eton.

@pigalow27 Boris Johnson might have an act that he is a buffoon, but I think he has a first from Oxford, which they don’t give out in a lucky bag. Most mere mortals do at least three a levels. Harold only did two and didn’t excel in either despite having access to the most expensive, intensive education in the world. I think he comes across as quite thick. That’s why he swallows everything anything says to him with authority. Also in my experience intelligent people don’t respond with the naked defensiveness that Harry did when even lightly pressed. No serious person could find this man intelligent from this interview. The fact that you equate intelligence with ‘big words’ and a good vocabulary says it all.
