The royal family

To think Prince George is never going to find a life partner?

Who on earth would marry into the Royal Family, at this point?

What sort of parent would send their child to the slaughter-house?

The monarchy could well end up crumbling because no-one will be willing to marry into it - due not only to unacceptable levels of press intrusion, but also social media (and God even knows what that’s going to look like by the time George (and his siblings) come of age).

This is beyond ridiculous of course Prince George will find a partner. Not everyone sees it the way the fawning mumsnetters seem to ,(thankfully) Kate has thrived and I'm sure if he finds an appropriate person from appropriate upbringing who knows what they are getting in to then they will thrive like she did. Mm has not been successful in integrating into the royal family for reasons specific to her and her husband. They are now a much unneeded spare now so should be free to earn their living outside of the firm. If as much press has been dedicated to William and Kate's success as Harry and Meghan's failures then we wouldn't be having this conversation.

cakeorwine · 21/12/2022 08:14

Maybe,,,maybe he won't want a partner.

That would make things interesting when it comes to succession.

But I guess duty will have been drummed into him. So all you Monarchy lovers can go on being sycophantic about them and obsessing over their every move.

custardbear · 21/12/2022 08:24

What an odd post! ... but I'm sure he'll be fine!

MyPurpleHeart · 21/12/2022 08:31

Not everyone believes the waffle that Meghan and Harry are spreading you know

She doesn't speak to 90% of her family, cuts off friends like old credit cards, and has had 3 different religions to suit her relationship status. I'm pretty sure the thousands of years old institution will be just fine after she and Harry divorce and she runs off into the sunset with her massive pay off

Yes, clearly. Put me down for a village-wide flagellation at dawn.

At least we can take solace in the fact that he doesn’t read MN and so will be none the wiser about this thread.

Still doesn’t make it right, OP. Don’t try and justify it by saying he doesn’t read Mumsnet. As I said upthread, he’s not your child, he is 9 years old- it’s not right that you included him specifically (a child) in your title, when you could have used a broader question about marrying into the RF. Instead, here we are with grown ups discussing the future love life of a 9 year old. Awful.

Yes that's it exactly

I strongly suspect Harry found finding someone to settle down with a minefield because he's rather a manchild with a persecution complex.

Not many women have the patience to take on such a daunting prospect without having to entirely subjugate him because, well, SUCH a tosser. He's crying out for a dominant female to tell him what he is, and how to conquer SM.

I won't speculate on the potential love lives of children

I agree with this so much, I saw him with his wife and thought he’s like a little boy needing unconditional love & positive regard.

I couldn’t put up with that either.

Lots of Royals have managed to have a relatively private life. Look at Edward & Sophie, Zara and Mike, Beatrice, Eugenie, even Kate. None of those have "suffered" the excesses of the media, maybe because they havn't courted the publicity and done/said stupid things! By and large, they've kept themselves to themselves (as far as you can in the royal family), respected and worked with the media, i.e. providing photo opportunities for "big" events like first day at school, in return for being left alone at other times!

If you look at the ones who've "suffered", they've contributed to it themselves, by saying or doing stupid things or trying to use the media for their own purposes and then attempting to dump the media when it doesn't suit them.

Sad, but true!

I’m going to put myself out there and suspect you’re alright and not at risk 😂

I know I am. Happily married for 12 years now!

Kate had to press and even bottomless pictures of her splashed everywhere after paps climbed trees and trained foot-long lenses at the private, shaded villa she was in, about a mile from thd public road. Pictures of her bum were also published after the wind blew up her skirt...there were articles about the need to weigh skirts down. The British press largely stayed away from actually publishing all these images, although they reported on them. But there was a time they'd have projected them on to Westminster Palace.

It was mostly the foreign media that ran with them. Other countries may not want their own Royal Families, but it really does look like they're glad we have ours.

Duck you, autocorrect.

Well exactly. Seems a bit weird to extrapolate their failures to others, especially children.

I’d be more concerned about other children growing up with narcissistic parents, we all know how damaging that can be

susan12345678 · 21/12/2022 06:24

Apparently, some of Harry and Meghan's superfans have now turned their hatred and envy onto George. Perhaps because the great unveiling of H&Ms own children in the Netflix doc didn't spark the collective awe and delight they'd hoped? So transparent.

I predict apoplectic seizures on Christmas day when cute little Louis puts in an appearance.

And I remain convinced that many of those starting these sorts of threads are paid Sussex PR.

Give it a rest Susan. Soon, you'd start going on about "hyperbole" and "exaggeration" like your other friends on any RF thread.🤣

You all are always on these threads, so you may as well post gleefully like other paid bots you want to.🤣

00100001 · 20/12/2022 22:48

He's 9.

Nine.

Why would you even think this??? About a child.

It's going to be 20 years or so before anyone needs to "worry" about this...

It's a valid question even so. The monarchy might have slimmed down quite a bit by then and be less of an issue.

SighsTheNewWord · 21/12/2022 09:54

NowDoYouBelieveMe · 21/12/2022 06:28

What do you think an American Hollywood actor needs that only the British royal family can provide?

Even closer proximity to sexual abusers? A renowned racist white grandpa-in-law at the dinner table? Or is it just the chance to rub up against billionaires, which you imply Kate and co. engineered? Surely Meghan could've just gone for that by herself, if she wasn't satisfied with a guy merely scraping by on his mommy's millions. The uber rich clamour to hang out with actual celebs these days. The richest (now second richest) man in the world Elon Musk was booed on stage while striving for validation at a Dave Chappelle gig the other day.

For better or worse, the rest of the world has moved on from worshipping inbred European dynasties.

If anything, Meghan married down.

Plus I don't see any evidence of anyone on Meghan's side wanting anything to do with the Firm, as her late mother-in-law referred to them. Let alone engaging in some kind of feudal family plot as you suggest.

All we can hope is that somewhere in Buck House there's a broom closet of straight, meek Kate-a-likes ready and waiting for the rest of the royal boys...Else this country'll be really screwed eh.

You paint quite a picture, I'll tell you that. That was an interesting read and I enjoyed it. Even though I disagree that Meghan married down (at least not in her eyes I presume), I get the sentiment.

UseAMuckySock · 21/12/2022 07:18

I’m really hoping he turns out to be gay. That would shake up the old fashioned stuck up “firm”

Then again, no doubt he’d be “advised” that homosexuality is not an option

It's probably being drummed into him that "In the right time, when you find the right WOMAN..."

I doubt they add "...or man" during their royal lecture on what the future holds for George and the expectations the Firm has of him.

Just as I doubt they'd say "or woman" with Charlotte.

But who knows, things may have changed drastically by the time they're old enough to carry out such duties.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 21/12/2022 10:05

Maybe he'll turn out to be gay and want to marry a man and really shake the royal family up 😉

...a black gay man.. wonder how that would work with the courtiers and establishment....hopefully we will have moved on by then.

It would be even more awkward if he wanted to marry a black (or white) straight man!

No one had ever heard of her before she started going out with Harry.

Not at all: she was very well-known in her own country. That's the same kind of reasoning by which we have historical records of privileged white men 'discovering' far-off lands.... because all of the native people whose families had lived there for centuries presumably didn't realise that their land existed....

Anklespraying · 21/12/2022 10:07

He will be fine, most people don't google themselves as much as Meghan obviously does.

I have to say I’m finding all this speculation and excitement about the future sex life of a 9yo boy really, really creepyZ

rumship · 21/12/2022 10:10

OP this is a new standard of low statring a gossip thead about a child. MN should shut this down.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 21/12/2022 10:12

He's going to be our first gay king, can't wait.

What's that standard MN trope of calling somebody a 'sweet summer child' ?!

SighsTheNewWord · 21/12/2022 10:15

As if on cue...

Interesting.

lollipoprainbow · 21/12/2022 10:16

I personally don't think there will still be a monarchy by the time George is an adult. It's so outdated.
