Awful story just broken on twitter about horrendous racist questioning from Lady Hussey to Ngozi Fulani from Sister Space at yesterdays VAWG event.

Lady Hussey has resigned.

Sounds even more disgusting than you described, actually.

Member of Household resigns

Flip...

TheTantrumoftheToddlerIsThere · 30/11/2022 13:03

Wow!

TheTantrumoftheToddlerIsThere · 30/11/2022 13:03

Bucking Palace has commented on the matter:

”We take this incident extremely seriously and have investigated immediately to establish the full details.

"In this instance, unacceptable and deeply regrettable comments have been made. We have reached out to Ngozi Fulani on this matter, and are inviting her to discuss all elements of her experience in person if she wishes.

"In the meantime, the individual concerned would like to express her profound apologies for the hurt caused and has stepped aside from her honorary role with immediate effect.

"All members of the Household are being reminded of the diversity and inclusivity policies which they are required to uphold at all times."

RaRaRaspoutine · 30/11/2022 13:08

The way she moved her hair out of the way!! Like Fulani is public property to be manhandled!! I would have slapped her hand.

TheSpottedZebra · 30/11/2022 13:09

This is the late Queen's Katy in waiting, is that right?
As in not her daughter, who is Camilla's aide, whatever they're calling them?

TheSpottedZebra · 30/11/2022 13:09

I'm glad Ngoni Fulani was able to speak up, and be heard.

Yeah. Also the woman assigned as DoS's "helper". Poor Meghan.

TrashyPanda · 30/11/2022 13:10

Her husband was a complete prat too

OMG, really?

That's telling.

DohaDragon · 30/11/2022 13:11

Who on earth is she

bellinisurge · 30/11/2022 13:13

Do you need to attend diversity training to know that you don't say (or think) that stuff if you are a decent human

greenhousegal · 30/11/2022 13:18

An old retainer who, if you dare to look at the DM has "that look" (IMV) of a supercilious old school white privileged person. She just happens to be the godmother of William, and was retained by Charles, whose judgment of people I would question quite frankly, not just regarding Hussey either.

Velvetbee · 30/11/2022 13:19

Bloody hell!

amyneedssleep · 30/11/2022 13:20

Oh, but according to posters on here as well as the future king himself, there's no way the royal family has a problem with institutional racism.

LadyKenya · 30/11/2022 13:21

Totally unacceptable behaviour. Demanding to know where the lady is from, but not accepting the answer. Was she doing that to all the other guests I wonder.

catandcoffee · 30/11/2022 13:24

That poor woman having to justify her space at the Palace.
Are certain people going to make pathetic excuses for her...she didn't mean it. She was just being friendy bollocks.

crosstalk · 30/11/2022 13:24

I was appalled by what the then unnamed person said. Why would you do anything like touch a person's hair and then cross question them about their family history?

The only good thing is that it appears to have been resolved swiftly. I hope the Queen Consort's companions (another word for lady in waiting) are properly vetted ......

CannibalQueen · 30/11/2022 13:27

Grim yes, but hardly bloody front page, breaking news! Who are these people?

Namechangedforthisonetoday · 30/11/2022 13:27

Good God I am cringing at that exchange. It’s disgusting and I’m glad she’s resigned. She’s an embarrassment. Like something off Little Britain.

TinyChancer · 30/11/2022 13:31

Where are you from?
Hackney
Great, I'm from...,

A much better way to have the conversation

I wonder if there was more context as otherwise I just don't get why it even mattered?

SalviaOfficinalis · 30/11/2022 13:34

It’s excellent that it’s front page news.

Horrendous that things like this (and much worse obviously) are still going on. But it’s a step forward that it’s being publicised and condemned instead of people being expected to put up with it quietly.

Ch3wylemon · 30/11/2022 13:35

I read somewhere that the late Queen's famous "have you come far" was a phrase to avoid "where are you from".

kirinm · 30/11/2022 13:36

This old racist also had some shitty things to say about H&M.

What was what about it being impossible the royal family have a racism issue?
