Why are people saying the Queen isn't in the coffin?

I keep hearing people suggesting the Queen isn't in the coffin as apparently the same happened with the Queen's grandfather.

Sounds like a load of rubbish to me. It would be insane if she wasn't.

What difference does it make to everyone if she's in there or not? It's an open casket thing is it? People are just in a queue to see a box.

As was pointed out up thread though, it would be sacrilege to have an empty coffin. As the Queen felt her religion deeply, this is yet another reason to believe that she is in there. If we really needed another reason….

What difference does it make if she's in there or not? People are queuing up to see a box anyway. It could just be symbolic. It would be a darn sight easier for everyone if it were empty

I suspect it's empty just in case of some potential incident/too high risk and her actual coffin is somewhere else waiting for the actual funeral. There's passages between the Palace of Westminster and Buckingham Palace for a start, underground bits that link the road to Westminster Hall etc where a coffin switch would be easy.

And not saying that as I believe in some kind of conspiracy. JuSt it seems so much more practical to have a stunt coffin

Apart from her lying in a cathedral in Scotland. And the Archbishop of Canterbury receiving her body to lie on state at Westminster Hall yesterday. And as pp have said, why mount a massive security operation to guard an empty coffin? And allow the living members of the Royal family to walk behind it as potential targets. Oh, and stick
a priceless crown on top?

Why on earth would it be MORE practical to have a stunt coffin?

The body has to be moved, why go to all the hassle of how they have actually moved it while, at the same time, secretly moving it in another way? What would that achieve? Who are they hiding it from?

The only terrorist threat will be the actual funeral with attacks on crowds or world leaders, not some bizarre desire to steal her body.

Its funny that people are arguing over this. I’d presume she’s in there but none of us actually know. I think it’s a bit weird to wonder about it. 😬

I was at my mate's and we were watching the soldiers carry the coffin onto the plane. She hoped they didn't drop it, how horrible it would be if it fell so far and broke open. To be daft I said what if it was empty. I didn't think it was a THING! Some people!

It’s amazing that SOME people don’t trust the large number of security and armed forces to keep the Queens body safe but will readily accept that she is being transported by the Iceland delivery driver 😂
