The royal family

Why are people saying the Queen isn't in the coffin?

I keep hearing people suggesting the Queen isn't in the coffin as apparently the same happened with the Queen's grandfather.

Sounds like a load of rubbish to me. It would be insane if she wasn't.

I've seen so many say this and I think it's batshit. All of the ceremonies were planned by the queen herself, and are clearly rich with meaning. Why would she plan for her body to be hidden away somewhere away from her family while all this happens around an empty box? As if either the Queen or Anne would stand for that. Ridiculous.

Obviously in a new avatar already

I’m so sick of the numpties and their utter stupidity.

Totally this. Look at Charles walking around greeting people or any of the royals right now.

Surely that is more of a risk than somebody who is already dead.

The idea she isn't in there makes no sense to me at all.

Exactly. The idea that it’s harder to protect a dead body, that no one is getting within 20 feet of when years of planning every detail has been done, than it was when she was alive and meetings hundreds of people in all different settings and hundreds of more variables doesn’t make sense.

And when was the last time someone stole the body of the head of state to hold to ransom.

I get, Ptolemy took Alexander’s body, but that was so he could claim Egypt, almost 2000 years ago. But can’t see that happening now. Or do people think terrorists believe if they grab the Queens body they can lay claim to being the King?

Non of the ‘she isn’t in there, it’s such a risk’ makes sense. At all.

sendwineandastraw · 14/09/2022 11:02

I’ve also seen this going about, I’ve also seen people post pictures of a frozen food lorry going through the palace gates on the afternoon of the day of her death and them suggesting it was decoy to get her out without the theatre.

Who knows?!

CrunchyCarrot · 14/09/2022 11:04

Yet another (ridiculous) conspiracy theory by people who haven't got anything better to do and are severely lacking brain cells.

Arenanewbie · 14/09/2022 11:06

Some people are just stupid and have lots of stupid theories.
My personal list why people do this and that is quite long to be honest.

nachoavocado · 14/09/2022 11:07

Why. Why would they do that? There's no need. So I would just assume she's in there.

3peassuit · 14/09/2022 11:08

Some people have too much time on their hands. Idle speculation gives them something to do.

SparkyBlue · 14/09/2022 11:09

Some people are just nuts. This is a woman who spent her entire life following protocol and this funeral has been planned for years.

Never heard of embalming then? It's a choice when someone has died. We decided not to have my mum embalmed. I can guarantee that the Queen has been.

MarshaMelrose · 14/09/2022 11:17

Same reason people think Prince Philip murdered Diana. Or that Elvis is alive and well. Normal life isn't enough for them. And they have to feel they're superior and know something other people are too naive to believe.
The fact is Diana's driver was over the limit and crashed into a post; Elvis died and had a post mortem; and the Queen is in the coffin.

Me too.

The level of genuine crictical thinking (not the stuff that conspiracy theorists think they are doing) has sunk to a new low.

I have to admit that I wondered if it was or not.

I do think it's a massive security nightmare having her body being transported from one end of the UK to another whilst the entire journey is broadcast over international TV. I'd imagine if some terrorist organisation wanted to intercept the coffin and hold it for ransom, all of this made it a hell of a lot easier for them to do so!

Have you seen the size of just the police operation that we can see accompanying the cortège?

the Vigil and resource on protecting her body?

what would terrorists do with her decaying body?

where is she if not in the coffin?

really, apply some common sense

I'm pretty sure having all her children in one place several times is a security nightmare anyway, a body in a coffin into the mix makes little difference.

MuddlerInLaw · 14/09/2022 11:29

Are there really adults (allowed on the Internet!) who have no idea how bodies are preserved after death? Shock

It’s quite shocking to know such ignoramuses walk amongst us!

Mochudubh · 14/09/2022 11:32

Not relevant to the Queen (who I'm sure is in the coffin) but Charlie Chaplin's body was "kidnapped" and held to ransom, which his widow refused to pay.

The perpetrators were arrested and the body recovered.

More so that when she was alive?

Protecting her now is probably a lot easier.

I don't recall her whereabouts being broadcast rolling 24 hours a day when she was alive. Or the itinerary for the entire royal family for the next two weeks being published in daily mail.

They were when they were on tour. Their movements were often on TV.

There’s more chance (possibly high) of a terrorist attack at one of these events. But, again, there will be all sorts of intelligence agencies working on this with plans.

And the target of that would be the living members. Not the already dead one. What’s

Trying to steal the Queens body is a high risk low reward plan. When, if you can get that close, for that long you have a better chance of harming one of her living relatives.

I wonder would they stand for their own mothers' bodies being transported in a frozen food lorry rather than a hearse.

Draughtycatflapreturns · 14/09/2022 11:48

It’s obvious where she is. She is back with the lizards.

Oh for god sake. Can't imagine Anne trailing around after an empty box.
Some people really shouldn't be allowed on the Internet.

This. ^ Of course she is in the bloody coffin/hearse. FFS!
