Why are people saying the Queen isn't in the coffin?

I keep hearing people suggesting the Queen isn't in the coffin as apparently the same happened with the Queen's grandfather.

Sounds like a load of rubbish to me. It would be insane if she wasn't.

Embalming doesn't always stop the smell. Found that out very recently, the smell was absolutely awful, even with embalming.

Hence the lead lined and sealed coffin...

Nothing can happen without several conspiracy theories! I cannot think of a reason why she isn't in the coffin, so in face of that, and the fact it is being accompanied by her child then I think we can be fairly confident she is.

I’ve seen this question loads of times recently. I guess it’s good that people are learning things like this i.e. embalming is done to preserve bodies. And that the servicemen we see around the RF are actual soldiers and not actors of some sort! Although there plenty of people who absolutely will not believe that the guards at Buckingham Palace etc. are carrying real guns 😂

Totally this. Anne has been with her coffin all day every day and she is visibly emotional about it. No way would no-nonsense Anne follow an empty box.

Because people's personal experience of death is that embalming does not stop smells. People usually have no experience of lead-lined coffins.

I don't think they are the same. There would be actual reasons for those things whether or not you think they happen. I can't think of a single reason why they would bother not putting the Queen's body in the coffin. Except the lizard thing.

You actually think they wouldn't have thought of this in all the incredibly detailed planning over decades for the eventual death of the Queen? Really?

Her body is embalmed in a lead lined coffin. No need for the smelling salts.

You could argue the whole point of all this rigmarole, ritual and ceremony is nothing to do with the queen's actual remains but all to do with whipping up all this royalist frenzy. So it makes no odds if she is the coffin or not.

The bidfood food delivery van isn't that deep. No they won't have shoved the queen's body in the back. There's a staff canteen, people need to eat, even more so when the population of Balmoral exploded with all the extra security, staff etc for the other royals.

She's definitely in there 🙄🙈 but I had been wondering if the coffin is the lead lined version yet. I recall seeing them take Phillip up the steps during his funeral and the bearers were straining under the weight. It doesn't seem to be the case so far. Maybe she was placed in the final coffin last night for her journey today?

I'm more confused as to why people think she'll smell after a few days. Even if that was the case, obviously her people wouldn't let people visit her coffin if she stank! Clearly very few people understand the process of death but a simple google would clear it all up surely. Otherwise the headlines would be "Stinky queen lies in state"

The embalming process itself causes a smell. But bodies are prepared for viewing in rooms that are well aired and with air fresheners. So for the amount of time most people view bodies it is usually fine, but not always.
