I plan to go next week from the midlands, to oh my respects. How many of us are planning the journey? I’m considering going late in the evening as it should be open 23 hours a day according to the news.

I’d consider it. I’m quite close by but hate crowds and queuing in particular.

Mum2jenny · 08/09/2022 21:02

Just no!

TheClitterati · 08/09/2022 21:03

My kids want to go ....

I'm not keen on queues.

imlevitating · 08/09/2022 21:03

Gross. No!

KylieCharlene · 08/09/2022 21:04

No

onemouseplace · 08/09/2022 21:05

Yes, I'd like to. I went to see the Queen Mother and queued for around 3 hours I think, and we somehow managed to cut in on the queue somehow.

SupposeItDoesnt · 08/09/2022 21:05

For clarity- it will be a closed coffin, with ceremonial guards etc. Not an open coffin

No.

Leave the woman alone. She was working under public scrutiny pretty much until her dying day. Give her some peace in death.

medianewbie · 08/09/2022 21:06

I think she will lie in state in Scotland first at Holywood. Can the public just troop past the (closed??) Coffin then?

HundredYearsOfSolitude · 08/09/2022 21:06

No chance!

DrDinosaur · 08/09/2022 21:07

God no.

weebarra · 08/09/2022 21:07

I'm in Edinburgh and work about ten minutes away from St Giles', but no.

lovelychops · 08/09/2022 21:08

Jesus wept

generalh · 08/09/2022 21:08

No. I live in Wales.

Mabelstearooms · 08/09/2022 21:08

No, I live 150 miles away from London & I also have to go to work. Life still goes on.

It's very sad the queen has died. But this is just a weird tradition that needs to be given up now. Let the poor love rest!

Hellocatshome · 08/09/2022 21:08

No. She is someone's Mother, Grandma and Great Grandma but she is not a relative of mine and I feel it would be ghoulish for me to view her body.

UrghBlahBlahBleugh · 08/09/2022 21:09

No, let the woman bloody rest. I find it weird.

EmmaH2022 · 08/09/2022 21:09

I could...
I can also go at night no problem. I can't cope with crowds.

but I'm not sure it's the right thing to do.

Itwasntright · 08/09/2022 21:09

What an incredibly odd thing to do. Why would you want to? Just to say that you saw her coffin?

The coffin will be closed, I am 99% sure...

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 08/09/2022 21:10

I don't know . I'd like to but a part of me thinks this could be disrespectful
I'm 50/50 .
I went to Thatchers funeral parade through London 🤷‍♀️

MintyGreenDreams · 08/09/2022 21:10

No its a bit ghoulish. I'll watch the funeral though.

It doesn’t need to be given up. It’s tradition. No one’s making anyone go there. It’s their choice.

God no, I'd not tell my friends and family if I go, they think I'm a total nutjob already!

I‘m part of Operation London Bridge. We are expecting MILLIONS to queue to see her lie in state. You won’t do it in a day. The line is expected to be about 7 miles long with people camping out for it from tonight.
