Do you think Prince Charles will bestow titles on Harry's children when he becomes king?

worriedaboutmoney2022 · 19/06/2022 14:40

That's an interesting one??

I'd like to say yes however Harry has been so awful to his father who knows but it's a shame for the children but then if Megan would rather they become internet sensations who knows!!!

Frankie412 · 19/06/2022 14:45

They become Prince / Princess the instant the Queen dies and Charles becomes King - so if they don’t want it to happen the Queen needs to issue letters patent now. Given she hasn’t done so, I think they are inclined to let it happen.

Snog · 19/06/2022 14:46

Ah yes the reality TV show with Netflix

Snog · 19/06/2022 14:48

I can't really see the point of them becoming Prince and Princess as they seem highly unlikely to become working royals.

FirstFallopians · 19/06/2022 14:48

I imagine they’ll have the right to use the titles, but will chose not to like Sophie and Edward’s kids.

Snog · 19/06/2022 14:49

Artwodeetoo · 19/06/2022 14:50

I doubt they will get any titles, I mean meghan and Harry have made clear their desire not to be part of the RF whilst spectacularly burning all of the bridges on the way out.

Raspberryjam22 · 19/06/2022 14:52

I’m pretty sure the titles will be snapped up although why H and M would want their DC to be saddled with them whilst living in the USA is beyond me :

SirChenjins · 19/06/2022 14:53

I’d like to think the H&M will choose not to use them in keeping with their disdain for the RF and their claim that its inherently racist . I suspect they’ll manage to put that all to one side though as royal titles seem to open doors in certain circles.

gingersplodgecat · 19/06/2022 15:10

On a scale of 1-10 of things that matter, either to me or the world in general, I'm struggling to get a reading here.

Georgeskitchen · 19/06/2022 15:11

Didn't they say they didn't wish for Archie to have a title then complain to Oprah that Archie hadn't been given a title?

Supersimkin2 · 19/06/2022 15:15

They’d be Lord Archie and lady lily Windsor, nothing more

Yes they did . Archie could have used Earl of Dumbarton but I don’t think that was good enough .

They are styled as the son and daughter of an Earl (given their Dad is the Earl of Wessex) but as grandchildren of the sovereign in the male line they are entitled to be Princess Louise and Prince James. Those are the titles they don’t use.

Supersimkin2 · 19/06/2022 15:15

They won’t be. The moment the Queen dies they become grandchildren of the monarch on the male line and therefore become HRH Prince Archie of Sussex and HRH Princess Lilibet of Sussex.

in the same way Harry ans William will become HRH The Prince Henry and HRH The Prince William.

SpinningRoundRightRound · 19/06/2022 16:43

And Meghan will become HRH The Princess Henry? Just checking.

I don't think so, because she is married into royalty, not born into it. Same as Sarah ferguson and Sophie wessex neither have the princess title. Diana only had it and Catherine in the future because they are married to the heir (Prince of Wales)It's all a bit convoluted.

I thought she was Princess Henry now as Kate is Princess William? I didn't know about "The" being introduced into the title once Charles is on the throne but I'm no expert.
After all, the late Princess of Wales wasn't actually "Princess Diana"; she was Diana, Princess of Wales or Princess Charles.
I think it depends on whether you're born a princess (eg Beatrice and Eugenie) or marriage has made you one.
I think...🤔

Ah. Right, perhaps she's not.
I thought it might be a bit like Princess Michael or something.

But their parents will milk the titles on their behalf. Need to earn some Netflix money.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 19/06/2022 17:02

My understanding is they will be entitled to become Prince/Princess but they decide when older whether they want to? (I'm sure I read something about Louise having the right to chose to use the Princess title now shes 18, her parents having chosen not to use it when she was a child)

BasiliskStare · 19/06/2022 17:15

Ach - H & M want their cake and eating do they not? - Earn a fortune by being D & D of Sussex but want to earn their own money on their own terms - How on earth did they think Netflix etc would give them money without the RF connections.

I rather love Princess Anne - she properly gave up titles for her children .

She already is.

JiminyGlick · 19/06/2022 17:17

I would hope not.

I'd hope Charles is going to be progressive and modern and not dish out these ludicrous titles to the broader family when public feeling is becoming increasingly anti-monarchist.

Maireas · 19/06/2022 17:19

Sophie, Sarah Ferguson, Kate and Meghan are princesses by marriage.
Princess Edward/Andrew/William/Harry doesn't sound good, so they use the dukedom title. Prince Michael isn't a royal duke, which is why his wife is Princess Michael.
