@Roussette

Now the Royal Family can just concentrate on the jubilee celebrations

That's fine as long as they don't wheel PA out for dress up balcony time

They wouldn't. would they?
JADS · 15/02/2022 19:53

My thoughts are with Virginia Guiffre tonight. I hope she finds some solace from this.

My feelings is that PA (who I believe is truly abhorrent) will not be back. PC and PW are going to risk him worming his way back.

JADS · 15/02/2022 19:54
  • aren't going to risk him

@Mamamia7962

My immediate thought on hearing this was that it's because of the Queen's age and the fact it's her Jubilee year. Imagine if it had gone to court and the Queen had died. Everyone would have been blaming VG for not wanting to settle out of Court and the stress that it had put the Queen under.

Now the Royal Family can just concentrate on the jubilee celebrations.

I think the queen is upset or dying is a UK trope. Not sure Americans care that much. Where was this queen's empathy for the victims when she was protecting Andrew.

I suspect that for VG's team, they worried about him getting off on technicalities - as in most cases. She and the charity would get nothing and Andrew vindicated.

For Andrew, a jury would have probably proved tricky as they would have possibly been more emotionally based, than a judge who would just look at the cold facts.

Surely the palace would have advised him to settle, as the public has already judged him anyway. Queen frail, he would be unforgiven if anything happened to her, while his case dragged on.

As you say, the RF can now concentrate on the jubbly celebrations.

Can Andrew pay? He is paying for his own security and everything now, supposedly.

[quote Roussette]For anyone interested or doubting the photo, this is very interesting and makes sense

Very interesting that, and looks plausible too.

Good to see you back, btw. Smile

Thanks!

I would just now like to know .... how much, and who's paying.

Will we ever find out... therein lies the rub

@Roussette

Forever and a day he will have the Maitlis interview following him around where he did not show a shred of sympathy for the victims. That is his legacy.
Yeh. He can never be wheeled back out again. No waving. No military garb. He must keep a low profile for the next 35 years.

I hope he's blessed with 35 years of having to hang his head low. I hope he's broke.

Of course, even if he's temporarily broke his mother will leave him more cash.

Redshoeblueshoe · 15/02/2022 22:51

I expect that we are paying. How much ? I'm guessing - and it's just a pure guess as I know nothing in this area, so I'm going for £5 million

Roussette · 15/02/2022 23:02

It's being reported as either £7.5 M or £10 M

The telegraph is saying 12m. I think the Queen will have to turn the heating down at Windsor palace.

Roussette · 15/02/2022 23:06

£12M Shock

Temporaryrespite · 15/02/2022 23:13

The statement is not clear whether he is just giving to her charity or she is receiving some money as well

I hope that it is a bit of both. VG deserves some compensation for everything she has been through. And I hope a substantial amount goes to a victims' charity too.

Billlius · 15/02/2022 23:22

I hope that, when they move into Eindsor Castle, William and Catherine bam him from using the royal golf course.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 15/02/2022 23:37

Or apply to another fund for the disadvantaged to pay for it ... ?

Lampzade · 16/02/2022 05:40

So Charles agrees that they should pay Andrew’s legal fees in exchange for the Queen’s endorsement of Camilla as Queen.

GreenFingeredNell15 · 16/02/2022 06:10

I read an 8 figure sum. Not sure what that means

MeanderingGently · 16/02/2022 06:31

I read 12 million, with the Queen footing a large part of the bill. Amazing that the Duke is paying so much to some 'random' woman he supposedly doesn't know at all, and can't remember anything about.
"Dear Prince Andrew,
I'm another woman you don't know at all, but I could do with a bit of cash, the odd million will do and I promise not to talk again until after the Queen's big summer party. Thanks mate...."

PreparationPreparationPrep · 16/02/2022 06:38

The BBC just read £12M - Good for VG. I believe her! Obviously court costs will take a. Big chunk. I'm wondering if he was involved with others who were either underage or trafficked at the time and will this give them more confidence to come forward.

ABitBesottedWithMyDog · 16/02/2022 07:16

An eye-watering sum. Pizza Express customers will be suing Andrew for sexual assault next. He can't very well claim he wasn't there.

I think that’s about it, yes.

Yes.

I have to link this again. I put it on the other thread

Lot of assumptions there, Lampzade, although I agree it's not beyond the bounds of possibility; even at the time of the Camilla announcement I wondered what Charles's input on it had been

Oooh I love your cynicism Lampzade Grin
Roussette · 16/02/2022 08:53

I agree with Lampzade

It was my first thought when the settlement was agreed.

StormzyinaTCup · 16/02/2022 09:23

He is a morally deficient and obnoxious man who likely had no qualms about holding his family to ransom, publicly threatening to take it all the way to court (in his mums jubilee year) unless someone coughed some cash for a settlement. Don't think they had a lot of choice and the Queen has had to 'pony up'. Im not sure if the Camilla arrangement comes into it or not.
