They do not do themselves any favours with 'forgetting' what they have previously denied.

Beetle11 · 10/11/2021 20:57

@TaliaB1
Hmmm - is forgetting to tell the truth in court different to a lie?

PrestonHood121 · 10/11/2021 20:59

The court heard that the duchess had written: "Given I've only ever called him 'daddy' it may make sense to open as such, despite him being less than paternal, and in the unfortunate event that it leaked it would pull at the heartstrings."

She wrote the letter with the intention of it being it leaked. When he didn't do it, she had "friends" reach out to People magazine, and then her dad showed some paparazzi the letter when they asked him about it.

I was responding the poster who was talking about the Oprah interview.

amusedtodeath1 · 10/11/2021 21:03

Hubris is an excellent word for them puzzled. I am genuinely baffled by their behaviour. I don't believe she "forgot" the numerous emails and conversation regarding colluding with the authors of FF. I forget a lot, but not something I've discussed several times over weeks/months. No that's just not true IMO.

Beetle11 · 10/11/2021 21:04

I seem to remember there being a few dubious statements in the interview too - the fact that the Archbishop of Canterbury disputed her claim about a wedding before The Wedding would seem to be proof of a lie. Although perhaps she “forgot” that as well?

As has been stated at least 200 times on this site, it is common for Americans to refer to a non-binding vow ceremony as a marriage. The Archbishop never denied a private ceremony took place, only that a legal marriage wasn't held. This is the biggest myth of all, that she lied about a 'marriage'. She did not, and the Archbishop never confirmed or denied a non-legal private vow exchange.

So the lie that she lied about the wedding is....a LIE.

Beetle11 · 10/11/2021 21:11

@TaliaB1
Ok, will perhaps give her the benefit of the doubt then but do you believe that she truly forgot about the emails in her court statement?

LondonWolf · 10/11/2021 21:11

This is all more evidence how deeply racist the UK is and why she was right to flee

Flee? Grin

Oh stop it Hmm

Thank you for proving my point. Hmm

Nope, I reject your BS accusations of racism, no matter how many times you try to lever them in Smile

Of course you would 'reject' the facts. Hmm
LondonWolf · 10/11/2021 21:17

She’s quite clearly not told the truth. Repeatedly. Now it’s damage limitation.

There is nothing racist about observing that. You cheapen real racism with these kinds of accusations. Shameful.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/11/2021 21:18

Quite - and certainly not something which someone cared so much about that they swore to it in court

Let's be honest though; is this really a surprise? Did anyone really doubt that Meghan had cooperated in the writing of the book, no matter how much they hoped her denials were true?

Apart from the emails I see no evidence she has 'repeatedly' not told the truth.

The racism comes into play with A) a black woman being howled down by the British public when she told her experiences and B) the smug and gleeful delight in this thread which is because of their opinion of her doing A). Shameful of you to invalidate a black woman's experience and be so gleeful at the sign of an infraction from her. Very shameful.

Beetle11 · 10/11/2021 21:23

This is about not telling the truth in court, it has absolutely nothing to do with race.

queenofarles · 10/11/2021 21:25

Honestly I did believe when she said had nothing to do with it.
it seemed like a big risk not being truthful .

I agree.

No matter what racism may have occurred at other times and from other people, she is in difficulty with this and it is circumstances entirely of her own making.

LondonWolf · 10/11/2021 21:28

No. I reject your CRT inspired nonsense. She is being held to the same standards as anyone else would be in this position. As she should be. Your race baiting will get you nowhere with me I am afraid.

Any glee is due to the fact that she has been deified by certain posters - notable by their absence on this thread - who have repeatedly shut down any criticism, indeed any discussion around the DOS’s actions, as racist, just as you are today. You may keep making your poisonous accusations if you wish but know that almost everyone rejects these notions and are disgusted by your attempts to shut down this discussion with your one word epithet. These accusations have been overused and are losing their power. What will you and your ilk do then I wonder?

CreepySpider · 10/11/2021 21:31

I imagine Harry has spent his life being protected by the Palace and all kinds of things covered up and lied about. As a result, he and Meghan probably believed that would continue and that Jason wouldn’t disclose these emails.

When the court case was first in motion, relations between Harry and Meghan were not as bad as they now are. Perhaps they felt they would continue to be protected but now the Palace has stopped doing so.

No the glee is by poisonous posters like yourself who have taken against Meghan from day one and are now being called out on it. You then use the typical DARVO and gaslighting attack against me, a woman of colour, and are attempting to silence me and shut me down from pointing out the home truths of your agenda. You won't silence me, and your typical invalidating my and other black people's lived experiences won't work. I won't be silent. And I will call you and your ilk out every single time.
TaliaB1 · 10/11/2021 21:33

PS Racism is only 'overused' by those guilty of racism and unwilling to see their reflection in the mirror. It's the cheap tactic by racists used to silence BAME by saying it is 'overused'. You really showed yourself up there. If anything, it is UNDERused.

TaliaB1 · 10/11/2021 21:35

@Beetle11

True, but for the third time the glee on this page stems from hatred and prejudice against a BAME woman for daring to speak out against the Holy Royal Family.
Serenster · 10/11/2021 21:37

I can see the Palace was in a tricky situation. We know from other reporters that apparently Harry & Meghan launched this lawsuit against Palace advice. Perhaps because the Palace knew that the claim the couple was making wasn’t true?

Anyway, with all the emails and who knows what else evidence that Jason Knauf has to show this, their hand may well have been somewhat forced. If they come down hard with his contractual NDA and prevent him from offering evidence in the court case, they are knowingly complicit in the court being misled - and Jason has all the information he needs to blow the whistle on them for this.

Having just been burnt publicly by whistleblowers for covering up the bullying allegations, they may well have had little appetite for being exposed again for choosing not to do the right thing?

EdithWeston · 10/11/2021 21:38

I thought she was brilliant when she first came on the scene.

As did the thousands who lined the streets, and noted with pleasure the major signs of welcome extended to her (first unmarried to Sandringham for Christmas, solo visits with HMQ much earlier than others who married in, early major patronage when she was given the National Theatre etc)

Please do not assume that those who comment on what is happening now have been poisonous since the off. It's inaccurate and, to use a sporting metaphor, it's playing the man not the ball
