In what other court proceedings would something be withheld because it isn’t very nice (Harry’s text to her father)? I appreciate that this is. Civil case not criminal but surely evidence can’t be suppressed because it makes someone look a tit?

It seems it can when the tit concerned is a member of the RF and the court is British ... they don't act in the Queen's name for nothing

Amusing to see that Meghan claims to have "forgotten" passing info to Knauf though. For all I know someone might believe her, but to me that sounds like yet another credibility fail

Meghan did. All the actual email addresses have been blanked out, but the email comes from “M” to Jason, with Harry and Samantha Cohen cc’d. The email sets out information about “M’s” siblings etc.

But that latest piece is absolutely stuffed with detailed personal information and must have taken a fair while to put together - and this is what she claims to have "forgotten" sending??

Unless the whole thing's a fake (and it wouldn't be the first time it had been done) it'll be fascinating to watch the mental gymnastics coming up over what remains of her credibility

That is what it is, general background info.

As she would give to her lawyer, pr, manager etc. So when they get asked questions, they do not look dumb and know what is being refereed to. Nothing on here, says you must give this information. You would assume - and as Meghan says, there is a barrage of requests. She says so in her statement.

I would assume this information would have been sent to Shillings and the lawyers too - anyone who has to deal with outsiders on her behalf.

I don't think it's a fake because then Meghan could just have said so in her rebuttal statement - instead she simply claimed she had forgotten about it - which implies she is admitting it happened. So there's probably enough proof that the email chain is real.

As I had said above, it's a background brief. Either JK does not know his job that he takes what is given to him as background and feeds it to the media.

Who is instructing him to do this btw, he is still working for the palace.

This point is that MM, in a sworn statement, says she did not collaborate with Scobie, but the email produced by Knauf shows that she did, via him. MM, most certainly based on legal advice, has now accepted this in her evidence to the Court of Appeal, and she has apologised for misleading the court. It doesn’t matter whether you want to describe the briefing as general background or something more detailed, the issue is that Meghan’s credibility has been damaged.

If it goes to trial - which is the point for ANL - both sides can bring more evidence. M&H will also have email trails regarding the letter / book to support their case. So this is not the end.

It’s also clear from the email chain that the briefing was not given in response to a ‘barrage of requests’. It is misleading to characterise the context that way as it’s clear from the email that their strategy for contributing to the book was being discussed in a very specific and considered way. I bet Schillings are furious.

I know she says “for when you sit down with them…” but it’s not clear who “them” refers to is it? Or is there another email that shows what this was in response to?
