@MrsMaizel
There is a reason she is in SA and it has to be serious . Who would leave their children like this ? I'm assuming it is part of a divorce that will come out but yes I also expect her mental health is not the best . Poor woman .
They initially said she travelled to South Africa to have oral/jaw related surgery (perfectly possible, she is South African, has family and friends there and South Africa has a very good medical system, plus she could have the surgery and recuperate in relative privacy).
Then she developed an infection, and could not travel home. Again, perfectly possible - you really don’t want to be flying with anything affecting your sinuses and connected systems as the air pressure would make it incredibly painful. If it’s that bad it probably rules out travel by boat as well, as anything like that going on in your head can badly affect your balance, so a lengthy boat voyage might be impossible. You can’t exactly take a train or drive back to Monaco from South Africa either.
Then, add in the global pandemic, making not at all easy for her family to travel to her. Plus, her husband is head of state, so expected to be doing things in Monaco, not basing himself at the other end of the world. She may very well have wanted her children to have stability with their nannies and schooling and father while she recovered, to try and make the whole thing as normal as possible.
Charlene’s family have been visible in this time - her brother and wife (who I think live in Monaco?) appeared with Albert at the annual Rose Ball, which is the big event on the Monaco royal social calendar. And Albert has been previously seen with his other children, so it’s clear he has kept some contact with them and presumably their mothers.
So, to my mind, given Charlene is clearly not well, the official explanation may actually be true here.
