Anyone think they are going to call the baby Diana? I think they possibly could... The Americans would love it.... Palace not so much... Win win...

I wouldn't be surprised. They decided to keep the link going by announcing the pregnancy on 13th February - exactly the same day as Diana's pregnancy with Harry was announced.

Except that Harry was born in September so it was a two month pregnancy announcement. Meghan is, what, five months pregnant by the looks of the bump? So she's been hidden away for three months to allow the 'reveal' on the same day as Diana did it? Very twee.

When she was pregnant with Archie (a first pregnancy where more can go wrong) she announced it at Eugenie's wedding, so only two months pregnant. This time around it's held back to fit the contrived link to Diana.

So calling the baby Diana would definitely fit in with the way their minds work.

I’m surprised they announced the first one so early Shock I wouldn’t dare if I was in the public eye to the extent they are. Obviously they get a lot more care and early scan though, I guess that makes them more confident than mere mortals.

bunniesanddaisies · 10/03/2021 15:57

Why wouldn’t you dare? It would be a miscarriage, not possession of class A drugs.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 10/03/2021 16:03

Precisely because I’ve HAD a miscarriage around that time, and I wouldn’t want everyone except those very close to me to be privy to my grief, not hard to understand.

MrsTabithaTwitchit · 10/03/2021 16:12

I hope not. It would be a terrible burden on the child . Having it as a second name would be much better.

It’s not hard to understand that you didn’t want that. It isn’t hard to understand not everyone is the same.

Perhaps as a middle name? Charlotte’s full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana Cambridge which I think is lovely. Elizabeth being after the current monarch, links to history as well as her Catherine’s mother’s middle name is also Elizabeth. I thought that was a lovely touch.

I totally agree.

Alright, keep your hair on Grin

Considering they apparently want to have privacy, I’m still surprised by an early announcement of something that’s sadly not seen as a sure thing until you reach roughly 12 weeks.

Lampzade · 10/03/2021 16:19

Diana is one of Princess Charlotte’s names.
I think he may use his mother’s second name which is Frances

MrsMackesy · 10/03/2021 16:20

I think Diana Doria would make lovely and meaningful middle names. I also wouldn't be surprised if they included Elizabeth as a middle name. Whatever they choose, I'm sure it will be something they both like and is meaningful to them - like Archie Harrison. I wish them all the best.

CoffeeRunner · 10/03/2021 16:22

I absolutely think she will be Diana.

Possibly Elizabeth will be in there somewhere too, as they both seem very fond of the Queen & want the world to know about it. I also wouldn’t be surprised if her middle name was Meghan. As Archie has Harrison.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 10/03/2021 16:22

Anyway this time they obviously didn’t announce until well past the time when most people announce, so yes I gather that’s to fit in with the announcement Diana made about being pregnant with Harry.

I don’t think they’ll go with Diana as a first name personally.

diddl · 10/03/2021 16:22

Woudn't surprise me at all?

Why would the Palace care-especially if they stay in USA?

Confused what on earth made you think I lost my hair?
52andblue · 10/03/2021 16:24

It would be a lovely way to honour his Mother.
The only question is, will it be a Christian name or a middle name?
(I think they might be bold enough to go for Christian, but that is a bit of a history to live up to for a wee girl)
Even if they don't I expect the press will start on about 'Meghan's daughter' in time. Ironically, I think Charlotte looks a determined wee girl

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 10/03/2021 16:24

Diana is one of Princess Charlotte's middle names, and Harry's uncle (Diana's brother) also has a daughter called Charlotte Diana.
But yes, I think it's quite likely to be her first name. Diana Doria.. and then something twee or pointing like 'Hope' 'Freedom' etc (although obviously not freedom, but you get my drift)

SmidgenofaPigeon · 10/03/2021 16:24

😂 come now you know it’s a popular expression used to refer to those who are prone to getting het up over something. Let’s not play silly buggers.

Liberty?
bunniesanddaisies · 10/03/2021 16:27

Of course I do smidge. That’s what I mean. Whatever made you think I was het up? Confused

SmidgenofaPigeon · 10/03/2021 16:29

Take a day off. I can’t be arsed to justify myself any further.
This is a site where people discuss opinions. MY opinion is I’d be far too nervous to reveal a pregnancy to the entire world at 8 weeks. YOUR opinion is different. The end.

bunniesanddaisies · 10/03/2021 16:30

Yes I get that, I’m just not sure that expressing that opinion means I’m het up.

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 10/03/2021 16:30

Actually, I think Rosa will be in there somewhere, after Rosa Parks.

I think they held on to the news to have something a bit for themselves and no speculation.

I think they may give the new baby Diana as a middle name, I would if I was Harry.

Lindy2 · 10/03/2021 16:41

I think Diana will be a middle name.

Meghan will want the first name to be one she has chosen herself and Harry will go along with whatever she wants.
