Play nicely and don’t say anything that will get your post (or the thread) deleted. I’ll start. Archie is cute and it would be lovely to see him more often.

It's ten o'clock on a Saturday
The Respo crowd shuffles in
There's Portia’s Mum sitting next to me
Makin' love to her tonic and gin
She says, "Babe, can you play me a memory
I'm not really sure how it goes
But it's sad and it's sweet and I knew it complete
When I wore a younger girl’s clothes"
La la la, di da da
La la, di da da da dum
Sing us a song, you're the Guitar Man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright
La la la, di da da

Sing us a song, you're the Guitar Man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright

Oops. Completely the wrong thread Blush

Viviennemary · 12/09/2020 22:53

Never mind. That was very nice. Maybe Harry and Meghan could use it for their theme tune on Netflix. Grin

beelover · 13/09/2020 09:33

Great song by Billy Joel but actually it's Piano Man Grin

BalloonSlayer · 13/09/2020 10:38

I wish them well with their venture, and hope it is a success.

I hope it isn't the case of agreeing they might do a programme about Diana amongst all their other ideas, they get pressured to do that first, then dropped as that's all that Netflix actually wanted from them.

TheDragQueen · 13/09/2020 10:52

I think you’re right BallonSlayer.
They’ll do a documentary about Diana and that will be it.

Pretty sad selling your mum out like that but Harry doesn’t really seem to have any integrity.

StartupRepair · 13/09/2020 12:35

Can just picture the Diana documentary with Meghan clinging to Harry's arm and looking soulful while he recalls his childhood trauma.

Oldbutstillgotit · 13/09/2020 13:32

Did anyone else think the “ I Love California “ painting behind M in her latest zoom chat was deliberately sending a message ?

meercat23 · 13/09/2020 13:32

A film about Diana's life and background could be interesting. The Spencers have a long and interesting history. Somehow I suspect that this is not what Netflix would want though.
MissEliza · 13/09/2020 14:40

@Oldbutstillgotit yes I do. She's quite entitled to love her home country but not when she's using her British royal title.
She seems to love using anniversaries of things to get her face on the screen again. Does any other celebrity or royal do this?

Royals certainly don’t as they tend to have a lot of advisors and they listen to them.

Charles Spencer is quite outspoken. I wonder what he will say or do if he feels Harry is bringing Diana’s reputation or memory into disrepute. I do hope Netflix aren’t using Harry to get something about Diana that will pull in the viewers (because it won’t be a nice documentary if so) and have no intention of covering anything they think they will be portraying.

Today Kate unveils 100 photos of how the world has coped under Covid for new National Portrait Gallery exhibition as the Queen says she is ‘inspired’ by images of ‘such a challenging time’

C'mon MM. Top that why don'tcha Grin

Maireas · 14/09/2020 08:34

@Viviennemary - I'm laughing at the idea of a theme tune! We'll see what comes out of the Sussex brand next. They are certainly ensuring a strong media presence.

ButteryPuffin · 14/09/2020 09:41

As well as Kate's project, looks like the video for this literacy project by Camilla is coming out today:

The Duchess of Cornwall has helped launchtwo National Literacy Trust digital platforms for parents and teachers to support children affected by the Covid-19 crisis.

In avideo, recorded during a visit to Ivydale Primary School in London last week, the Duchess launched theVirtual School Library. The project will provide all primary schoolchildren in the UK with a free ebook or audiobook, an exclusive video and engaging activities from a different children’s author or illustrator every week. Partnerships are in place with publishers including Bloomsbury, Bonnier Books UK and Penguin Random House.

The Duchess of Cornwall said:“I love libraries. They are absolute treasure troves of knowledge, wisdom and hope. Enter a library and you will suddenly find you are able to walk through wardrobes and pop out of rabbit holes and play quidditch and maybe even steal the crown jewels…I am delighted to launch the National Literacy Trust’s Virtual School Library. What a fantastic idea it is: a library that enables us to read books online, meet authors, see inside their writing rooms and enjoy reading activities – all from our own armchairs. I know children will have a fabulous time exploring it.”

Good for Camilla. I await the latest news from California.

Viviennemary · 14/09/2020 09:46

I was very critical of Camilla and still don't approve of the way she behaved. But there has been no suing and no sly digs at other members of the family or whining about her lot. Just getting on quietly with the job. Somebody we know could take a lesson from her.

EvilPea · 14/09/2020 09:59

I have to take my hat off to camilla on her domestic violence speech. She got it spot on. It sounds the same with this scheme as well.

Bumlooksbig · 14/09/2020 10:16

Perhaps MM could donate a free lunch to every elementary school child in California whose parents were in receipt of welfare benefits.

And perhaps someone else could pay for it. As well as MM's air fare for turning up to obligatory the ten minute photo shoot. Hmm

Maireas · 14/09/2020 10:35

Camilla has certainly shown how to rise above negative press and possibly family! I respect her work on domestic violence and literacy. She also visited a care home and was lovely and chatty which I know made a huge difference to the residents.

Didkdt · 14/09/2020 10:35

I think Duchess of Cornwall is really good at delivering what the country needs.
The Duchess of Cambridge is involved in other things but content and delivery for her projects seems on a much lighter note, perhaps this is just a reflection of the Royal Hierarchy.
Brand Sussex seem to be playing some kind of supermarket sweep of causes to trumpet, with very little depth of knowledge on the issues involved and a lot of swiping at the other members of the family.

Maireas · 14/09/2020 10:36

@Didktd - supermarket sweep! Good metaphor!

Didkdt · 14/09/2020 10:37

Not sure what The Dukes are doing all of the above seems driven by the women folk

Didkdt · 14/09/2020 10:39

@Maireas thank you

ButteryPuffin · 14/09/2020 10:41

@Viviennemary I agree with you about Camilla and past events but like you, I can now see real value in the projects she is taking on.

wufti · 14/09/2020 10:50

Camilla has picked her projects to support very carefully and with great thought - to focus on important issues that don't cross political boundaries - and also ones which she clearly has a passion about. Quality above quantity.
