Play nicely and don’t say anything that will get your post (or the thread) deleted. I’ll start. Archie is cute and it would be lovely to see him more often.

Wow. Have they negotiated some kind of "3 for 2" deal with their solicitors?

SunbathingDragon · 08/09/2020 09:47

@Oldbutstillgotit

More legal action . According to OS , H has filed a legal complaint against the Sunday Times for saying that the Netflix deal was the reason for the Invictus event being cancelled .
They are saying it was because of covid but I think they are being pedantic about details. It might have been cancelled initially due to covid but could definitely have been rearranged at a later date with social distancing/vaccination/alternative arrangements in place but now that isn’t possible because of the Netflix deal. There is no doubt that he has chosen the Netflix deal over being able to participate in the Invictus deal.

They need more than a 2 for 1 deal considering their love of litigation!

So now they have added the Sunday Times to their list of U.K. newspapers that are out of favour, are there any left. Grin

Bumlooksbig · 08/09/2020 10:04

No way was it cancelled due to Covid. It isn't even scheduled to take placed until after many other indoor events, cancelled in 2020 are rescheduled to take place.

Sick to death of Covid being used as an excuse for everything from impotence to bad weather Hmm

EvilPea · 08/09/2020 10:09

They’ll sue the arse out of every paper until no one prints anything (perhaps the plan).
Which will back fire when they want to promote their Netflix programs and no one will cover it

YgritteSnow · 08/09/2020 10:32

Glad to hear they've paid their debts and stopped asking Pa for subsidies. Now they need to voluntarily renounce their titles in order to truly begin their new life. I'll be so glad to see the back of them. I've never watched an episode of The Kardashians in my life and that's how I rank these two now, right up there with those lot.

Agree with all of that, including having never watched Kardashians. Despite not watching them, I know they will sell out the worst family secrets for money and publicity and maybe that is the way H&M are going with Netflix.

TheNavigator · 08/09/2020 11:33

To be fair, I think the entire RF provide a sort of Kardashian style entertainment to the British public & have been doing so long before the Ks and their ilk. They are our longest running soap opera.

StartupRepair · 08/09/2020 12:21

Going to be another interesting court case.

Neverendingcourgettes · 08/09/2020 15:34

I agree with you @TheNavigator.

What I find interesting is the wording “a payment was paid to the Sovereign Grant” but it doesn’t state who made the payment. We all assume it was Harry but it could have been Charles or The Queen.

Neverendingcourgettes · 08/09/2020 15:35

Or, if not the Kardashian’s, then this is the real life Truman Show.

Oldbutstillgotit · 08/09/2020 15:46

@ Neverendingcourgettes I have re read the statement and I agree that the wording is a bit ambiguous.

SunbathingDragon · 08/09/2020 17:29

Usually when statements are vague, they are deliberately so.

JaJaDingDong · 08/09/2020 18:02

There's been an an announcement that the Olympics will take place regardless of the Covid situation at the time.

Biro20 · 08/09/2020 19:32

I notice that the Netflix share price has been going down.

LittleBearPad · 08/09/2020 20:31

They’re going to need a spreadsheet for all the litigation they’re pursuing!

Fairyliz · 10/09/2020 09:24

Someone mentioned the Kardashians, hasn’t their show been cancelled?
Time for a new show Reminiscing with the Royals?

Viviennemary · 10/09/2020 11:34

I wonder if they will enjoy doing it. And how much work thry will havd to actually put in and how much they will be told what to do. Or will just putting their names to it be enough.

SunbathingDragon · 10/09/2020 12:41

I’m very much hoping that the Netflix deal contractually minimises what other publicity that they can be involved in. I really think they will be better perceived if they weren’t heard from on such a frequent basis because they/their PR rarely seem to get it right which just causes negative headlines and then more legal action which, of course, causes more derision. They now have a chance to actually bring decent publicity to charities and causes but it comes down to whether they want fame and money, or to make a difference.

Viviennemary · 10/09/2020 15:36

I agree. I didn't even know the Obamas were involved with Netflix till it came up in articles about H&M's deal. Everything those two do comes with a trumpet fanfare. So much for not wanting publicity. There is a slim chance it could go well and they'll thrive. But on the other hand it could be a disaster.

When Harry stated that he ''wanted to move from UK to a life of privacy to protect his family I took him at his word...I thought that they would be leading a rural life of horses and Canadian wilderness far removed from vacuous empty Celebrity.
Couldn't have been more wrong!.
It seems that Meghan is fame and money driven...and loves to be in the media spotlight...{but on her terms}.
Harry has plummeted in many people's estimations, and profiting from his Mother's life story seems disrespectful.
I met Diana once, and she was a stunning woman... and more importantly, her heart seemed 'genuine'...She was vulnerable, and I think that led her to empathising with those who also 'suffered'.

I think it’s largely these sort of contradictions between what they have said and what they have done that have led to their popularity decreasing.

Now they can’t be trusted to be telling the truth when they talk, I don’t see they are worth listening to (not that I thought they had many areas of interest to talk about/listen to anyway.

I think it speaks volumes about how successful the RF PR machine is that people still want to defend Harry despite the fact his actions and words have told us exactly who he is.
