Play nicely and don’t say anything that will get your post (or the thread) deleted. I’ll start. Archie is cute and it would be lovely to see him more often.

Well, you'd have a very willing and interested set of readers for whatever you do produce.

ItsOverNow11 · 02/09/2020 18:24

Harry seems very confused. Think he’s having a crisis of identity

JaJaDingDong · 02/09/2020 19:00

@Oldbutstillgotit

It has been confirmed that H and M have signed a deal to make programmes for Netflix. I wish them luck however I trust they will stop using their Royal titles.
I've just watched the first half of Rising Phoenix. Harry has a small commentary part in it. It's a documentary about the Paralympics. Worthy, but a bit boring. I gave up half way through
Viviennemary · 02/09/2020 20:03

I can't think of anything worse than listening to those two. Its amazing that they think they have anything valuable to say.

YgritteSnow · 02/09/2020 20:21

@jessstan2

Good for them regarding the Netflix deal. I think they will be very pleasant presenters, both quite relaxed and articulate, also have interests in many things.
This made me snort Grin
SusansSassySidePony · 02/09/2020 20:50

I do wonder if the posters who come on to these threads to announce they're above them and accuse everyone of reading red tops, adopt the same approach to every other historic event they are living through.
Regardless of whether you like H&M or not; regardless of whether you think you know them enough to have a view on whether you like them or not - a member of the RF marrying a divorced WOC, renouncing their title, giving up on duties and moving overseas is news. It will appear in history books - a tiny postscript perhaps but there all the same.

It's frankly bizarre that certain sections think we should all avert our eyes and pretend we can't see the times we are living in.
Then there are H&M's court cases which sit within a context of super injunctions, Leveson; attacks on the MSM as purveyors of false news, etc.

Of course, some posters and members of the public may not be interested in the history of the RF; or the monarchy; or the relationship between the law and the media; or the dynamic between the MSM and democracy. That's fine. But it's a little ... odd ... to think that makes you superior to those of us who are interested in the legal, historic and media implications of what is unfolding.

slithytoveisascientist · 02/09/2020 20:51

See I find this interesting, as I don’t read the daily mail. I first formed an opinion watching their engagement interview, followed by the wedding, the SA, and the website statement. My opinion is not favourable - of either of them. In particular the website, completely unfiltered by media, I though portrayed them in an arrogant, foolish light. They come across as completely up themselves.

Yet I would be called racist by some if I called Meghan arrogant.

slithytoveisascientist · 02/09/2020 20:51

Sorry that was intended as a reply to the navigator

slithytoveisascientist · 02/09/2020 21:01

I also find it frustrating that people with a differing opinion are considered incapable of reading/viewing various sources including MSM and forming their own views.

The visit to the Nursery on Monday was sweet and a poignant date for H however , once more they - apparently- took their own photographer . Why ?
Also, some parents have taken to SM to complain that they are not allowed into the building because of Covid restrictions yet H and M plus photographer were allowed in .

MissEliza · 02/09/2020 21:15

It's definitely not the media that influences my unfavourable opinion of H and M. What really just disgusted me with them was their own behaviour on the South Africa tour: M saying no one had asked her if she's ok when she was surrounded by extreme poverty and H being so rude and arrogant to the Sky reporter. That tour could have done a great success but they ruined it with their self pity. Then there was the strange visit to Canada House, the sudden announcement without HMQ knowing, talking of 'collaborating' with her Hmm, seeking financial independence while sponging off others etc etc. The videos they make where they talk utter clap trap are in their own words. You can't blame the Daily Mail if people criticise them for what they say in them. They're their own worst enemies.

The last high profile person who was a producer while seemingly unqualified was Dodi Al Fayed. Seems like a plaything job for the super rich.

I’ve no idea of the restrictions in America regarding access to a nursery but certainly my DC’s nursery or school wouldn’t be popular with parents for allowing people inside for publicity purposes right now due to all the covid restrictions. Was there a particular reason they were at the nursery and needed to be inside?

Again, I would imagine his father’s connections and/or bank balance secured him that role.
ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 02/09/2020 21:32

How does this Netflix deal work then, do H&M come up with an idea and the Netflix make it and H&M approve what’s been produced, do the voice over and get paid mega bucks? Is it basically the equivalent of when celebrities ‘design’ a clothing line when they are not designers at all?

Oldbutstillgotit · 02/09/2020 21:41

Is this in place of Archewell ? I am a bit confused .

Dodi Fayed was hardly going to starve if it all went horribly wrong.

I think the figures being bandied about $50m signing bonus, $250m total revenue etc. etc. are optimistic at best. Well DM actually said $150m which tells me these figures are getting plucked from thin air. Any studio executive worth their salt is going to want to see some evidence of success and I would suggest that after an initial flurry of interest, viewing figures may wane as people realise that the stuff being pumped out is not exactly ratings gold. A cartoon about inspirational women? Programmes about the environment and mental health? If this stuff was guaranteed to pull the punters in then someone would have done it already.

Twitter is full of people "celebrating" the "great news" and sticking the middle finger up at the "haters". Most of them are Sussex Squad. No surprises there.

Please indulge me a little bit here if I predict that after a year or so the contract will be quietly dropped.

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 02/09/2020 21:41

Another pondering I was having was how do we think William and Kate feel about how high profile H&M are possibly going to be if they become as successful as the Obamas? (I know this is a stretch but bear with me) do you think they will resent their global success, will they feel eclipsed by them?

Viviennemary · 02/09/2020 21:48

William must be thinking how am I going to cope with that pair of headline grabbers for the next 50 years. What a prospect. Maybe in a year or two they will fade away into obscurity. Or maybe they won't. Well have to wait and see.

RubyViolet · 02/09/2020 21:50

I would not be surprised if Oprah Winfrey’s Production Company is in a joint venture with them. They need a Production Facilitator, that’s pretty standard practice.

Oldbutstillgotit · 02/09/2020 21:50

Firstly I cannot imagine H and M being as successful as the Obamas . The only thing people will pay to hear about is the RF and I don’t think they can risk HM’s wrath or POW cutting their funding.
Secondly , I get the impression that W and C are very secure about their place in the world and are probably looking on in bemusement . Like many of us .

AKissAndASmile · 02/09/2020 22:10

Well Netflix spent $100 million dollars on two seasons of House of Cards so I imagine the amount M and H will get paid will be preeeeetty hefty! So pleased for them....it's amazing!

AKissAndASmile · 02/09/2020 22:11

All the haters will be watching the stuff they produce. Because they are obsessed with them!

I won't. It all sounds beyond dull. I don't even watch any of their interviews. They make me cringe too much.
