So, does anyone seriously believe that they can ever come back from this one a personal family level? The Queen said they remained much-loved members of her family. But now??! After all this?
Surely they can't just swan back in in early March and hug everyone hello!

yolofish · 22/02/2020 14:22

angelina no I dont think they can. I've said this before, but I just wouldnt have the gall to just swan in, hugs kisses, curtsies all round and pretend nothing had happened. It would be hideously embarassing for everyone.

I think she'll stay in Canada and Haitch will come back - maybe then an opportunity to rebuild some bridges with his family, maybe he wont take that opportunity because he's so pissed off and wants to get back to his wife and baby.

DandyRaven · 22/02/2020 14:22

They didn’t want to leave the Royal Family.

They wanted to leave the restrictions of being in the Royal Family.

ilovejeffgoldblum · 22/02/2020 14:22

I would of thought not call , but with the brass balls on these two, who knows !?
I wouldn't put it passed them to brazen it out!

CallmeAngelina · 22/02/2020 14:23

I wonder whether he’s seeing this as his revenge on the RF how his mother was treated
See, I diverge from the mainstream view on that one. Whilst I don't condone Charles's behaviour (assuming what we've read is true), neither was she an angel. She must have been an absolute nightmare to live with and they were woefully mis-matched. She manipulated the Press to her own ends too, and portrayed herself as the Queen of People's Hearts, but had she not died when she did, I wonder what would have happened to her public image.

ilovejeffgoldblum · 22/02/2020 14:23

A distinction worthy of a lawyer dandy !

CallmeAngelina · 22/02/2020 14:24

DandyRaven, But as they're finding out now, you can't really separate one from the other.

DandyRaven · 22/02/2020 14:27

Ha jeff. Maybe I should retrain.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 22/02/2020 14:27

That’s why I said conveniently forgetting the games she played. I didn’t like Diana. She was manipulative & vengeful. She was definitely not the saint she was portrayed as after her death. The Sunday papers had to be pulled on her death as the articles were quite inflammatory.

Charles was no angel either mind you. Apparently her gran apologised to The QM as she knew Diana had issues.

Alsohuman · 22/02/2020 14:28

There’s no way back for them as a couple. Harry could slink back alone with his tail between his legs but I can’t see that happening somehow. If it does it would be to a very low key profile, like the Earl of Wessex, with a British wife and a new family.

DandyRaven · 22/02/2020 14:29

Angelina exactly, you can’t. But this is the crux of it - there’s what they want ...and then there’s reality. They clearly think the restrictions are moveable. The Crown says No.

MissEliza · 22/02/2020 14:29

Monarchy also needs the support of the people. This is why talking of being allowed to use the term 'royal' outside of British jurisdiction is nonsense. I believe a majority of people in the U.K. no longer regard MM as a royal so on what basis can she use it?

ilovejeffgoldblum · 22/02/2020 14:33

Go for it dandy!Grin
C I completely agree , but wasn't an opinion I could voice out loud , without causing arguments! . The interview with the tilted head and side eye was pure manipulation!
I think they were as bad as each other.
The tide was turning already but tragedy struck first.
I don't know how h can blame the press, it happened in France and our tabloids weren't there.

DandyRaven · 22/02/2020 14:33

And there’s the optics of using the term Royal internationally but not in the country your royalness technically pertains to because you don’t don’t have legal permission to do so. It would look quite silly Grin

ilovejeffgoldblum · 22/02/2020 14:36

Miss , I think a lot of people didnt regard her as royal 👑 to start with , you can't marry into something so ancient and be royal straight away!

ilovejeffgoldblum · 22/02/2020 14:37

True dandy, I hadn't thought it that way , it does look extremely silly!

Yahboosnubsme · 22/02/2020 14:44

Why did they feel the need to include the first parts of each of these paragraphs in their statement:

'While there is not any jurisdiction by The Monarchy or Cabinet Office over the use of the word "Royal" overseas, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use "Sussex Royal" or any iteration of the word "Royal" in any territory (either within the UK or otherwise) when the transition occurs Spring 2020.'

'While there is precedent for other titled members of the Royal Family to seek employment outside of the institution, for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a 12-month review period has been put in place.

It's so unnecessary. H&M really are idiotic to be authorising this sanctimonious twaddle.

BahMooQuack · 22/02/2020 14:47

It just makes them sound petulant.

Prince and Princess Petulant.

They could change to that by deed poll.

DandyRaven · 22/02/2020 14:49

Bah GrinGrinGrin

Maybe @ them on Instagram to suggest it?

Has anybody read the full history of Anne Boleyn? She pushed Henry the VIII to the limit and involved herself in issues that were out of her remit. I'm not advocating the same ending here at all but I'm seeing more similarities with Anne Boleyn than Wallis Simpson. Anne Boleyn was ruthlessly ambitious and so is MM in a way too. Both had a habit of burning their bridges with people and put people off them very quickly by their behaviour.

ilovejeffgoldblum · 22/02/2020 14:59

7 I've been thinking of a name change, as I'm due .... but I'm so lazy and I do love Jeff goldblum! 😃

ilovejeffgoldblum · 22/02/2020 15:00

Yeh very interesting 🧐 comparison, very apt.
Beheading does seem a slightly harsh punishment thoughGrin
