The thing about tell-all interviews, Butterymuffin, is that she wouldn't actually have to do one yet; just suggestions that others are "interested" could keep the RF money rolling in for the time being

It's true that doing it would burn boats completely, but if Harry's use ended and there was little left to lose, it might well be worth one last £££££ throw of the dice

yolofish · 22/02/2020 18:49

Now, were I ever to be looking at an amazing priceless collection of tiaras to get married in, and said "ooh I like that one" only to be told it might be a bit iffy politically, I would have said "oh ok then, what about that one?"

That seems reasonable to me.

DandyRaven · 22/02/2020 18:50

Somewhat off topic but @BahMooQuack I’m so interested in your jewellery collection and expertise! I adore jewellery but have limited knowledge really about it.

yolofish · 22/02/2020 18:50

Or of course, it could be tiara manager's fault for not excluding the iffy politically sensitive ones?

Jeez, the 'little people' really don't get it do they...

CallmeAngelina · 22/02/2020 18:50

And of course, we never heard exactly what it was that drove Kate (allegedly) to tears during a dress fitting (for bridesmaids?) in the run-up to H&M's wedding.
Don't suppose we ever will, either.

yoikes · 22/02/2020 18:51

I thought the tiara she picked was beautiful.
I prefer it to Kate's and Es

Butterymuffin · 22/02/2020 18:52

Ok - but if there are 'forbidden' tiaras in the collection, was that clearly communicated at the start, that those were off limits? In other words, was it misunderstanding, communication breakdown, or one/both Sussexes assuming they could get past any objections?

yolofish · 22/02/2020 18:53

yes bah please tell us more! and dandy both the Crown Jewel collection at the Tower of London and the jewellery rooms at the V&A are totally worth a visit if you can get to London - amazing.

DandyRaven · 22/02/2020 18:53

I remember the potentially dodgy Russian providence of the Tiara too. I interpreted it as being politically sensitive for any one to wear it at their wedding and I didn’t think Eugenie did or was going to.

Butterymuffin · 22/02/2020 18:54

My new dream career is 'tiara manager'. Though it's probably more achievable for @BahMooQuack!

SpinneyHill · 22/02/2020 18:54

The Queen forbade her using it because they cannot be certain where all the 'bits' came from...imagine if the Racist Royals sent a mixed race Meghan out in a tiara that had ties to slavery, colonialism or worse.

Meghan didn't give a shit, neither did Harry.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/02/2020 18:55

What baubles were actually given to Meghan, as opposed to being loaned

I expect we'll have to wait for the auction to find that out ...

yoikes · 22/02/2020 18:56

Anyone remember the pr put out prior to W&Ks wedfing?
2011 - uk still enduring the effects of the global financial crisis.
No gold state coach.
Trees not flowers in the abbey - they were then planted.
Kates cartier tiara was very small iirc?
Not many attendants (3?)
It was all very appropriate

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 22/02/2020 18:56

was that clearly communicated at the start, that those were off limits? In other words, was it misunderstanding, communication breakdown

Does it matter? As Yolo says. Yous is presented with bling.

You choose certain big bling
Told Big bling not kosher.
There's still tons of bling.
So you choose next big bling.

I would just be grateful for any bling.

BahMooQuack · 22/02/2020 18:58

Dandy if you are not squeamish, then I highly recommend going to estate acutions. Personally i love having jewellery with a history because I love knowing that someone has loved my jewellery before.

DH and I have been together 20 odd years, and he has bought most of my jewellery from estate auctions. My wedding present was a lovely diamond bracelet and my engagement ring an art deco emerald and diamond ring. I like to think that the people who wore them before are somewhere knowing how much I love them.

DandyRaven · 22/02/2020 18:58

yolo good tip about the V&A, I’ve been seen it I think but not for years and years. I saw the collection at the Tower of London more recently, it’s so stunning.

Buttery you can be Chief Assistant to the Tiara Manager. Bah & Buttery is a great-sounding team.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 22/02/2020 18:59

Indeed @Puzzledandpissedoff Grin

Alsohuman · 22/02/2020 19:00

The V&A jewel rooms are fabulous. I could lose an entire day there.

BahMooQuack · 22/02/2020 19:01

OMG!!! Tiara manager! I am so into that. My favourite episode of the Big Bang Theory is when Sheldon buys Amy a Tiara. :)

DandyRaven · 22/02/2020 19:03

@BahMooQuack wow excellent advice, I’ve never have thought of that, thank you Flowers I’m not squeamish. I completely agree with you on pre-loved jewellery. My engagement ring was ‘secondhand’ from a jeweller’s, I think it might class as antique now. Like you I loved the idea of someone else loving it.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 22/02/2020 19:04

BahMooQuack That sounds lovely. I love both the art deco and art nouveau decades of craftmanship.

StSaulOfSnacks · 22/02/2020 19:05

Always go for the fashion at the V&A. Jewels for me next time.

mrscampbellblackagain · 22/02/2020 19:06

@bahmooquack if you are in the south west I would love to go to an estate auction with you! I love jewels!

I can't believe MM walked away from all that bling. Because if reports are to be believed Harry is pretty tight!

Can you imagine how much everyone involved must be dreading the royal engagments in March when they all have to be together and smile sweetly. I can see Kate carrying it off but William and Harry, not so much

CoffeeCoffeeTea · 22/02/2020 19:06

Teresajune you need to trademark SussexRoyle before they do!
To be honest this is better than any soap opera. It makes me realise my family are not so bad
