A thread for those who wish to discuss what's in the news and what your take on it is.

If everyone on this board agreed that he was out of line and that the rest of us wouldn’t do such a thing to our kids, so what?

His behaviour is odd, but so is theirs. H and M have not handled this wisely. I mean what would it have taken to keep the old geezer on side - go and meet him as a prospective father in law - send a bunch of flowers for his recuperation - take the baby to meet him, whatever.

It’s all rather ghastly and I don’t see at this point how anyone can still be fully on one side or the other in any of this. None of it adds up and that’s not usually a good sign.

Froq · 27/01/2020 14:19

The man's positively Trumpian

Same could be said about trying to control your own press coverage.

Froq · 27/01/2020 14:28

Taken from The Tig Archives 07 / 07 / 2014:

“Little girls dream of being princesses. I, for one, was all about She-Ra, Princess of Power. And grown women seem to retain this childhood fantasy. Just look at the pomp and circumstance surrounding the royal wedding and endless conversation about Princess Kate.”

Lol. Yet she knew nothing of PH or what being in the RF would entail, of course.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 27/01/2020 14:29

I agree with your post, BertsFriend

DandyAndFine · 27/01/2020 14:37

There must be nothing to talk about if a topic of posting is PH's A level results... they were 17 or 18 years ago! And his Dad, PC, was very pleased at the time. What in gods name are we trying to prove about him by bringing this up?
He's thick? Or he's a liar and a cheat? Or what?

Um @Roussette his A Level results came up as per my screenshot ...

After you corrected a poster by saying he had two, I googled and wrote a comment praising him for getting a B in Art as it’s a hard one, and I’m in awe of people who are good enough to do that. Other posters then pointed out there was controversy, as it was a big news story at the time (which I’d forgotten). That’s the way discussions naturally seem to go, and if you think his A Level results aren’t a good thing to discuss, maybe you should have pointed that out yesterday. You could have saved your today-self from this boring and awful topic of discussion Grin

I guess if TM goes out and and shoots someone, it'll be a case of, "Well, she drove him to it."

Roussette · 27/01/2020 14:47

True Dandy Grin
It just seems a tad irrelevant to be brought up in the first place! (And I didn't bring it up originally, I corrected someone who said he hadn't passed any)

I'm honoured to be screen shot though (or is it screen shotted? I don't know, I didn't get any A levels! Grin)

Roussette · 27/01/2020 14:49

And I did say this yesterday on this riveting subject..

'What the four and a half has that got to do with the price of fish?! He took his A levels about 18 years ago or whatever. This thread is bizarre'

MrsDoubtTried · 27/01/2020 14:50

That he was helped in coursework by a teacher at his school is very much relevant. Fgs.

MrsDoubtTried · 27/01/2020 14:52

Wasn’t it actually done for him by the teacher? That A Level result should have been wiped out.

MrsDoubtTried · 27/01/2020 14:54

If someone condoned cheating 18 years ago, there is a question mark over their integrity. That still stands. Simple.

Roussette · 27/01/2020 14:54

What... 18 years ago a teacher helped him in his coursework for an A level and that is very relevant today. Fascinating.

Perhaps you should go to the Daily Mail and regurgitate the non story?

Poppyfields21 · 27/01/2020 14:54

So TM is fair game for a ‘vitriolic tear down’ but MM is not? Just want to check

EcocabbyRickShaw · 27/01/2020 15:00

It’s all rather ghastly and I don’t see at this point how anyone can still be fully on one side or the other in any of this. None of it adds up and that’s not usually a good sign.

Well said, JillyHilly, I totally agree

DandyAndFine · 27/01/2020 15:00

@Roussette I think either screenshot or screen-shotted works. Let’s just agree not to go with ‘screen shat’. Wink

In all seriousness, part of the reason I screenshot you was to represent you fairly and show it wasn’t you who raised it originally. Trying to stick to the facts here and PROVIDE SOURCES.

I missed your other comment about price of fish however, apologies

Encyclo · 27/01/2020 15:03

So TM is fair game for a ‘vitriolic tear down’ but MM is not? Just want to check

TM is today's news and is on TV threatening to give more interviews unless she contacts him. If this was the "Stately Homes" thread everyone on here would be horrified.

Again, he is the parent. MM is not the only family member he's ever been estranged from. He barely knows his grandchildren so what makes Archie so important?

Oh yeah...Kerching!

PerfPower · 27/01/2020 15:04

It would appear so, Poppyfields1. Also, no evidence is required for vitriolic tear down of TM, but must be provided for any opinion less than fawning for MM.

derxa · 27/01/2020 15:06

All of this especially the last sentence. They're all telling fibs it would seem.

MrsDoubtTried · 27/01/2020 15:06

Oh yeah...Kerching!

Not only in the case of TM, we are led to believe...

DandyAndFine · 27/01/2020 15:09

If this was the "Stately Homes" thread

This made me giggle @Encyclo

There should be a royal version of the Stately Homes thread: “We raised you in Stately Homes ...”

(I used to be on that thread btw so no disrespect intended)

Encyclo · 27/01/2020 15:11

No evidence?

Encyclo · 27/01/2020 15:13

Oh yeah I forgot Samantha. Good catch!

Roussette · 27/01/2020 15:15

Dandy for that you shall be class I mean thread monitor! (On second thoughts, that's a poison chalice Grin)

Encyclo · 27/01/2020 15:22

H and M have not handled this wisely. I mean what would it have taken to keep the old geezer on side - go and meet him as a prospective father in law - send a bunch of flowers for his recuperation - take the baby to meet him, whatever.

I'm sure in her wildest imaginings she could not have imagined her own Father would turn against her so completely, while at the same time blaming her and her Husband. That's how I would feel this way if my Dad did this to me.
