A thread for those who wish to discuss what's in the news and what your take on it is.

To clarify:

They - being PH and MM - and their fabulous Hollywoodish new life.

MrsDoubtTried · 27/01/2020 13:10

To clarify even more:

The father doesn’t feature in the new life. I imagine they feel he has tainted their wonderful plans. Too bad.

7Worfs · 27/01/2020 13:10

Hollywoodish

If I was MM trawling the internet to read about myself, this would be by far the most hurtful. Grin

ThreeRandomWords · 27/01/2020 13:20

I think MM was very hurtful in the way she treated her father and am bemused that people think otherwise. It must have been especially hurtful to hear PH talking about the "family she never had" when it is clear that MM was a much-loved child. And the Vanity Fair article did seem to misrepresent TM's words in order to present better image on MM.

It will be interesting to see what comes out in the court case, assuming it gets that far.

But threads like this one show me that, whatever transpires in court, few people will change their minds about PH, MM and TM.

FWIW, I don't believe any of them will come out smelling of roses. I think there have been poor decisions and unpleasantness on both sides.

FramboiseRoyale · 27/01/2020 13:21

Diagnosing people you don't know is not really appropriate in my opinion, but speaking as a parent of a child with learning differences, neurodivergent is not an insult.

rockingchaircandle · 27/01/2020 13:25

Grin so funny! Or maybe it would be when she read about her “exotic DNA” Grin or saw herself described as “(almost) straight outta Compton” Grinor saw herself attacked her for the very things that Kate Middleton, Prince William’s white wife, has been praised for Grin or maybe when her son was compared to a chimpanzee.Grin

So much to joke about here. Yes, it's dismissing all the abusive press she's had. But... Banter! Light hearted gossip etc.Grin

The court case is about copyright law. What is everyone expecting to come out? Any texts will only be disclosable if they're relevant to the issues in the case.

What is it that the DM think they have or will have that is going to be damaging? Do they say they have texts that are damaging? If so, who are they from - to?

DandyAndFine · 27/01/2020 13:34

FWIW, I don't believe any of them will come out smelling of roses. I think there have been poor decisions and unpleasantness on both sides.

Agreed. It seems that MM has backtracked, contradicted or lied about how close they’d been and how much he’d done for her. However in my book as he’s the parent, he should do and be better and not cause trouble for his child regardless of how badly she’s treated him (or he thinks she’s treated him). I have absolutely no interest in what he has to say and haven’t and won’t watch any of his TV interviews.

kirinm · 27/01/2020 13:35

I've googled to see. The reports say she may be required to disclose texts and emails because of the argument she's leading a smear campaign against her father Hmm.

She has control of whatever messages the DM thinks she has and the DM would have to persuade the court that they're disclosable. My guess would be that the DM would have to prove there is some evidence to support the allegation and some relevance to the actual claim for the court to consider ordering her to disclose them.

7Worfs · 27/01/2020 13:38

DandyAndFine

This is exactly my take on this, it’s why I haven’t commented on TM.

When is the case court date?

Encyclo · 27/01/2020 13:39

However in my book as he’s the parent, he should do and be better and not cause trouble for his child

This x 1000

The vast majority of us are parents,
Is there anyone on this thread that would behave towards their child the way TM has towards MM?

kirinm · 27/01/2020 13:40

Can someone explain the text messages thing? What's she accused of doing? I can't follow it and the only papers I'm seeing it reported in are the tabloids

Roussette · 27/01/2020 13:51

There must be nothing to talk about if a topic of posting is PH's A level results... they were 17 or 18 years ago! And his Dad, PC, was very pleased at the time. What in gods name are we trying to prove about him by bringing this up?

He's thick? Or he's a liar and a cheat? Or what?

OVienna · 27/01/2020 13:54

I agree with Dandy's bold: none will come out smelling like roses.

I diverge from some on these threads in that I think TM is a disgrace. Completely. And if he used the words the Times is saying he did in the interviews "candy ass" and "wimping boy" of Harry that seals it for me.

Quote:
Mr Markle joked that Harry and he should have a cowboy-style duel, adding: “I’d be happy to duel with Harry anytime. One round in the chamber. Cocked. Ten steps, turn and fire. That’d settle the score.

“The way he’s been acting, I think he’d crouch on the ground before he gets to ten steps. He’s a candy-ass. He’s whipped.”

WTAF'ngF!!!

I do wonder what lessons MM will take from his book - if it's true they do 'exclusives' with Ellen and Oprah et al, rubbishing Britain and the RF.

I think it is interesting that MM is going down the breach of info, privacy route considering her friends did refer to that letter in People. A high risk game, in my view. Not sure she's been well-advised at all.

OVienna · 27/01/2020 13:55

I mean - I wouldn't have brought a suit. With anything involving TM - for one thing - this could be the start of many. She clearly needed a long term strategy for dealing with him.

Lawyers will do well out of this, MM and Harry - not so much.

Froq · 27/01/2020 13:55

Is there anyone on this thread that would behave towards their child the way TM has towards MM?

What? Give interviews against her request even though she dropped him like a hot potato several months ago?

kirinm · 27/01/2020 13:58

@Froq is that a yes?

Personally if my daughter wanted nothing to do with me, I'd have to look at my behaviour and I would most definitely NOT give interviews bashing her and then threaten to give an interview every 30 days. But that's just me.

BertsFriend · 27/01/2020 14:06

I've come to the conclusion that Thomas and Meghan are very similar in character (both on the look out for an opportunity to make money), so I think the relationship was bound to implode.

Harry doesn't come out of this well either. I was fairly indifferent to him before, but I now think he's like a petulant kid.

Good luck to them in Canada or wherever they settle, I think they'll be financially successful although not well liked. Hope we hear little more of any of them tbh.

Encyclo · 27/01/2020 14:06

So you would behave the same way Froq?

Roussette · 27/01/2020 14:08

And the fact he is estranged from other members of his family says something. He's a nasty piece of work who (according to an old interview) is increasingly bitter that he hasn't received 'a f**king dime' from his children to pay for his retirement.

ajandjjmum · 27/01/2020 14:12

Thank God that I've never been hurt enough by either of my DC to consider anything of this type - but none of us can know how we'd behave until we've walked in his shoes. Not saying that I would - just saying that none of us know until we've been there.

Encyclo · 27/01/2020 14:13

Was a lovely man. The more airtime they give him the more he shows exactly who he is.

NiceGuyNeddie · 27/01/2020 14:14

True but he does come across as a whingeing creep

Froq · 27/01/2020 14:14

most definitely NOT give interviews bashing her

How has he bashed her?

Granted, his behaviour is unusual. But so is hers. Like for like, tomato (UK accent) tomato (US accent).

Encyclo · 27/01/2020 14:16

Re: the duel...which one of them saw active service again?

The man's positively Trumpian
