Harry and Meghan resigning Act 4: the Price of Freedom.....?

So the saga continues
Thé Canadians are not happy about paying for the Sussexes security

I think that will be their downfall. They can’t actually fund the cost of their «freedom»
Other security experts saying that the cost of 24/7 private security is about £4million per year.

Problem is; they have skipped the a Royal fold, and have to pay the real cost of their security and accommodation . They will have to sell every aspect of their Lives to fund this.

I hope Archie has a more rounded childhood and is able to make up his own mind about his life choices and career.

I'm sure he'll be hanging out with A list celebs kids though and this might turn his head ,but that's a few years off yet.

lydialangwish · 14/01/2020 16:39

I feel sorry for Archie, and any future siblings too. And for Harry - I can't imagine he wanted any of this.

I remember when DD1 was born the rush of protectiveness that both I and DH felt was sometimes overwhelming. For some reason I was obsessed that I would never be able to adequately protect her from sunburn and traffic. Any car that drove past me at more than 5mph sent me into meltdown. And she was born in the winter so not a sunny time of year. I can understand that Harry must feel like that x100 given the history of his own childhood and Diana. I'm sure he just wants a quiet protected life for his child and his wife.

The best way he could have had that would have been to move to the Cotswolds, get interested in organic farming and position himself to take over the reigns of the Highgrove enterprise. Gently step back from duties apart from a few that he enjoys. Archie could have had a great childhood, playing with the Philips cousins at horse shows, learning to play polo and hanging around gamekeepers at Balmoral in the autumn.

Of course none of that would have suited Meghan. Whatever the future holds for them all I don't think it is anything close to as pleasant and relatively easy as what they could have had.

GoFiguire · 14/01/2020 16:40

What if they become Scientologists????

diddl · 14/01/2020 16:42

Well they are doing this for Archie presumably so he doesn't have the childhood that Harry did?

So Eton & being with cousins and "Gan Gan" was never the plan?

SerenDippitty · 14/01/2020 16:42

I went off Harry a lot when he showed up to a fancy dress party dressed as a nazi , although I also questioned the people around him for letting him out the palace wearing it as well. Again , he was more or less supported because ' he was only young and silly and had lost his mum'
We've all been young and silly , but that was totally stupid and disrespectful.

I was impressed that William turned up to that party in a lion costume. Given the theme of the party, which was colonial uniforms or something, an animal costume was just about the only thing guaranteed not to offend anyone.

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 14/01/2020 16:43

What if they become Scientologists????

Oh can you imagine?

DeRigueurMortis · 14/01/2020 16:51

What if they become Scientologists

I'm sure Tom Cruise would be considered a suitably high profile enough pal.

Perhaps we'll see Mission Impossible 5; Royal Resurrection.

Megan can play herself and Rupert Grint can reprise his daft but affable "Ron" role as Harry.

fallfallfall · 14/01/2020 16:51

They are mid 30’s and want to move. After reading several posts I can’t blame them. M can run a flower shop, H can start a security company, the beauty of Canada is less people will care to be bothered. It might be social suicide but if that’s what they want fine. Btw Canada scores very well on education, and Eton takes “foreign” students. Maybe they want to be an ordinary family (ordinary in Canada that is).

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 14/01/2020 16:53

Have you looked at their website, fallfallfall?

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 14/01/2020 16:55

I didn't realise that Harry had dumped the Royal Marines in order to hobnob with more exciting people at the Lion King:

I suppose the marines wouldn’t have been very helpful in arranging a job for Meghan.

How do you know William turned up in a lion costume? Were there pics? Someone yesterday told me he wore something “far worse” but wasn’t able to tell me what.

Also according to her, William’s antics were just as bad but suppressed as he was the future king, whereas Harry was fair game. Allegedly this is also why PH is so upset at the difference in treatment of himself then his wife.

Mummyoflittledragon · 14/01/2020 16:58

Loving the Scientologist comment. Anything’s possible....

lydialangwish · 14/01/2020 16:58

Slight derail, but I am fascinated about what will happen to the multitude of royal homes after the Queen and Prince Philip pass. They simply have too many for a slimmed down RF.
Charles loves Highgrove and Clarence House, I doubt he'll want to spend weekends at Windsor like the Queen does. Nor will William and Kate, they are Norfolk when not in London. I doubt any of them will want to move into Buck Pal, though it will continue to have an important historical, ceremonial and symbolic role as well as being the centre of operations. I believe they have been putting off significant refurbishment so it might be a good time to commence restorations whilst giving the others an excuse no to move in.
Then there is Sandringham, Balmoral, both of which presumably have extensive staff maintaining the house and grounds etc and yet are used for a couple of months or so a year.
Charles has his place on the Balmoral estate, Birkhall?
There is the Royal Stud at Sandringham, all the Queens racehorses. I suppose Zara would be the obvious person to take that over but she may not want to move to Norfolk.
There must be a lot of employees and old retainers, many of whom will have housing as part of their job.
That's just the main ones.
Lots of choice for Harry to hole up in away from prying eyes if he could have persuaded Meghan to ditch the limelight. Hmm

With the level of criticism on here from people who have no idea what has happened or is going to happen, it’s no wonder they want to live outside the UK.

Alsohuman · 14/01/2020 17:03

I have no doubt that Charles lll will live in Buck House. Why on earth wouldn’t he?

MoonbeamsAndCaterpillars · 14/01/2020 17:04

As someone not from the UK originally, I can tell you for a fact, that bitching about celebrities is sadly not exclusive to the British!

I had no idea that MN posters were so influential.

Have you seen what the US tabloids write about them?

cathyandclare · 14/01/2020 17:07

He's said he plans to stay at Clarence House, which is beautiful.

Parker231 · 14/01/2020 17:08

Why would you read a US tabloid? They are known as gutter press.

astralweaks · 14/01/2020 17:09

The Marines were dumped by him? Oh it gets worse. How crass.

Alsohuman · 14/01/2020 17:10

Why would you read a US tabloid? They are known as gutter press

So why would the Sussexes go there to escape media scrutiny then?

SerenDippitty · 14/01/2020 17:10

Mummyoflittledragon

It says in this Telegraph article that William wore a lion costume.
