Storm has notions of being a car engineer - he wants one of those flat beds on wheels for examining the underside of things.

I’m struggling to think. Perhaps mine could be models? Or waste compactors - they enjoy ripping up cardboard with their teeth.

is there a job where if someone else needs to move or build or clean something, you sit on it?

One of mine is going to be the next Downing Street cat, after all Larry was 19 this week so won't be around forever.

Her qualifications are that she won't use the cat flap so needs a full time door butler so she'll fit right in there.

I don't think I've ever seen your lovely boy before @Pudmyboy - he is gorgeous

This one is just going to opt out and live on benefits - she hasn't bought into the Alarm Clock Britain concept.

Beautiful!

Kirova · 25/01/2026 12:47

Gizmo is such a handsome boy, but I'm now confused, because he seems to be in two peoples' homes! Or do you both have very similar cat, who are both called Gizmo...?

Fosterers are bloody brilliant. I managed 9 cats over 2 years before Kitty moved in.

They included a comedian, an acrobat, a bodyguard, a housekeeper (specialising in laundry & washing up), a hairdresser & a town crier.

She's a great cat. She came to "settle" as she had apparently been quite challenging, but she's been super good since she came to us, uses her litter tray, keeps herself amused with her toys, incredibly affectionate. She was supposed to be sleeping in her cat bed but she's decided she much prefers lying curled up on my chest, purring very loudly. Not doing wonders for my sleep, but very cute. Whoever adopts her will be very lucky!

Gizmo used to live in England, next door to @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats

He was rehomed in 2024 to my house in Scotland, where he joined Linney.

They weren't very keen on each other to start with, but eventually fell in lurve.

My neighbour (who is from Fife) calls Gizmo The Broon One and he calls Linney The White One.

And just to confuse things, here we have The White One (inside) and The Black One (outside).

The Black One (Suzy) isn't mine.

It’s a very good story.

Kitty’s also thinking about opening a launderette or becoming an explorer with her camel. She’s a cat of many skills.

Gizmo did consider politics, too.

He couldn't get up to the top of the wardrobe so he settled for the mantlepiece instead.

Do you think Linney & Gizmo would be in the same party or oppose each other?

Kirova · 25/01/2026 17:30

Gizmo is a big handsome chap. He has a bit of a Scottish wild cat look to him, so maybe he found his ancestral home! A very happy ending 😊

Linney looks like a Lib Dem to me. Whereas Gizmo might be a good Communist party chief, by the sounds of things. He certainly doesn't seem to believe in private property if the thread is anything to go by!

Herbie is very proficient in Pigeon Pilfering (unfortunately). I do not have photos of that evidence you'll be relieved to hear.
His other career is probably furniture restoration.

Mostly an assassin tbh. But currently enjoying a spell as a professional agitator as current foster dog is very much not cat friendly and contained behind tall stairgate. Dcat 1 very much enjoys lurking around in the hall on the other side, which results in foster losing her shit, getting told off about it and dcat stalking off smirking.
A previous cat worked in traffic calming as he liked to sunbathe in the middle of the road

Here, the service was very slow.

I think most cats are excellent yogis but would struggle to teach humans since we’re so incredibly inflexible compared to them.

HouseAshamed · 26/01/2026 11:59

DCat has a career already. She's a hot water bottle and chair warmer.
She snuggles up next to me on the bed at night.
